One of the biggest differences that make DL1 better was the dreadful feeling from going to day to night and the relieving feeling of going from night to morning. As the sun went down, you would get a call to come back to base, if you stay out, chance of survival was low. You could see the zombies staring into the sun as it went down, and the moment it was gone, they would turn aggressive or just outright into a Viral. This one mechanic was huge. It put you in the "OH SHIT" feeling everytime. If DL2 kept this, I think it would of been way better than just saying oh we now have more special zombies that come out at night. Ok??.... For me, the feeling of losing track of time and staying out too late, watching the zombies get way more crazy at night with a half working flashlight was far better. You truly get the feeling like night time is not for the weak. It's for the daring.. one thing I would do for DL2 to succeed is 1, bring this into the game. 2, make it so some places would lock the doors after a certain time and the only safe place are the locations that YOU secured. If AI has a location for you to go to or a safe zone, those players should have a choice to let you in if you've helped them in the past. Otherwise, you're all on your own after hours.
DL2 nights still urge you to find a safe house, it's not like launch. But the first game in terms of detail that shows how special the night is definitely wins. Also, I did see that DL2 is getting a feature where the normal zombies turn to night walkers at night and their behaviour becomes almost like a volatile. 😏
Playing right now with my sister. Recently got her into gaming after I got the Switch a few years ago then gave her my PS4 last year when I upgraded to the PS5. She played Dead Island 2 by herself and loved it so we've been running this on co-op. About 70% of the way through currently. Almost 10 years post-launch and almost as long since when I first played the game, and it's still the best zombie game ever. On the PS5 it runs smoother than ever. I always thought Dying Light 2 was good and even after the 2 years of patches (no excuse for release state but damn the game went from good to great with those patches), it doesn't reach the art direction or atmosphere of the 1st. Love the 2nd installment but man does this game hold up. One of those games where with how the graphics look it'll never age that bad. Dying Light will always be a fond memory of my past and younger years, a joy to look forward to new installments (The Beast), and a game to replay to recapture the magic.
Never once when I was playing Dying Light did I ever wish for a Fast Travel System, something about how the character ran and how much was in the world, I really liked exploring.
The fact we got a current gen update for it was amazing to me. I remember I had no idea it got a small update with higher res at 60 fps until I randomly saw it in a dying light 2 video as a casual mention then I went to instantly reinstall the first one on PS5. Love when devs do that kinda stuff when the series crosses over to a new generation of consoles.
@Calzee i like watching these videos revisiting old games. Sometimes they got buggy releases or mixed reception so nice to see updated review after all the dust has settled. And i missed out on most of these older games so these videos help me find some good games to look out for during sales.
Yes and if you meet some nice players they could definitely drop some OP weapons for beginners if someone ends up asking, I always go back for a few missions or finding loot a few times every year and have had this since release date.
I remember when I found out that running into the water far enough out would keep you safe at night and instakill virals(?). At least I think those were the virals at night.... I forget sometimes. I would try and not use that exploit if I could but on higher difficulties if I was really screwed then I would make a B-line for the shoreline.
I think playing in a city not built for parkour is more fun it takes more strategy on where you go you actually can make mistakes and fall to the ground easier in dl1 vs 2 amd to me creates more intense gameplay vs dl2 where almost no matter where you jump theres a way to parkour which can get a bit boring and stale and definitely not as heart racing but thats just my opinion if anyone disagrees thats fine.
well it make sense that the combat may not be the best because first in the first game you are running away and surviving while in the 2nd game you actually more engaged in combat than surviving you may have a point about the combat of the first game but the thing i really don't like in the combat is the small knife animation altho other than that im ok with the other knifes/swords and other types of weapon movements and also the launch of the first game may have had bugs but they weren't as significant as the 2nd game launch i literally saw npc climbing through (not on to the roof but actually through the roof) which was absolutely weird and stupid in my opinion also the parkour functionality in the 2nd game also worked pretty terrible at first because you literally were doing the "tictac movement skill when you just wanted to climb the building normally and it ruined the parkour experience a lot in the 2nd game.
I always said: Dying light 1 for combat, Dying light 2 for parkour. I think both games are great but org is just bit more nostalgic to me. Also i recommend everyoen to play org dying light cuz new dying light with Crane as mc has been announced. One of few games that ill prolly ever pre order lol.
trust me, we are still playing dying light in 2024
We??? (I agreed)
And 2025 🧟♂️
@ 💯

The original Dying Light is amazing! I loved DL2, but DL1's night time was just so much more scary and better.
agreed!

It’s totally worth going back too ☺️
for sure!
I literally just picked this up at local vendor mall and I have to say it’s hard to put down the controller it’s extremely addictive and fun
I just picked this up with the star wars 14 game colleciton at a fanatical bundle. Ready to play some old games!
nice one!

This game is online? I thought it waa a single player game.
@@ziljin yeah it has online matchmaking but this was just a singleplayer review
@@ziljin yes you can play the story mode with others or play the multiplayer humans vs zombies mode which I didn't enjoy the zombies seem very broken.
Dying Light is as great now as it was 10 years ago.
If you haven't yet really recommend checking out the dlc Dying Light The Following as well! Really want to hear your thoughts

Getting back into it myself to finish the DLC! Although.... am I crazy or is it brighter at night now in the game world?

Yes
It actually is if anyone reading this And Haven't Heard About The Game Story Or Gameplay
Dying Light is awesome
DL2’s map was mad by AI, compared to the handcrafted world of DL1, no wonder you & everyone like it more.😂
Bro took a break and thought we wouldn’t notice
Video out today, been hella busy.
Done a good amount of shorts in the meantime though!
@@Calzee Ay let’s go, I’ll come on here one day n see you at a million 🤍
someone tell me how to get ammo fast, or just dupe 🤣
The only reason the hype for Dying Light 2 was so huge is because of Dying Light.
Than you can imagine the disappointment.
I only play it for the story I a really dislike the PVP
Yes everyone should, the game keeps going to 10$ definitive edition on xbox.
