great interview .i find it troubling to see how much of Sir Anthony went into Hannibal Lecter's character in silence of the lambs.his art and his vibrant enthusiasm with life plus the obsession with death are fascinating to me .his characters in other movies like "meet Joe black" seem to be also mirroring the actor's personality .i think i love almost everything about him and at the same time his shrewd intelligence keeps me on guard .as far as chaos goes(in reference to his art gallery presentation) he is one organized mind ,paradox?

@@MB-cx2ks It was for Spartacus. A great classic. Olivier did complete the film long before he died, but they did a special edition later with cut footage that they no longer had the sound for added back in. Hopkins dubbed over the extra footage playing Crassus, Olivier's character. I honestly never noticed the difference between what was Hopkins' Olivier impersonation and Olivier's actual voice in the film.

Beautiful response from Hopkins when asked about having any regrets: "No; don't have time to regret. We move on; because we're acceptable for who are, not what we think we should be"
His quote of poetry was also very nice, but, it is not Edgar Allan Poe he's quoting, it's a poem by Ernest Dowson called "Vitae Summa Brevis Spem Nos Vetat Incohare Longam":
"They are not long, the weeping and the laughter,
    Love and desire and hate:
I think they have no portion in us after
    We pass the gate.
They are not long, the days of wine and roses:
    Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
    Within a dream."
Hopkins, very forgivably, mistakes it with Edgar Allan Poe's, A Dream within a Dream:
"Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
Thus much let me avow -
You are not wrong, who deem
    That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.
    I stand amid the roar
    Of a surf-tormented shore,
And I hold within my hand
Grains of the golden sand -
How few! yet how they creep
Through my fingers to the deep,
    While I weep - while I weep!
O God! Can I not grasp
    Them with a tighter clasp?
O God! can I not save
    One from the pitiless wave?
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?"
Anyway, writing this just in case anyone was going to quote him or whatever. Fantastic interview all round; Larry King was great; really enjoyed this!

«If you weren’t an actor what would you have done?»
    «Drunk myself to death».
If you didn’t caught that. Tony was unfourtunately a heavy drinker in his early days, and he is also diagnosed with asperger syndrom. And as he stated in the interview he got picked on a lot and was mostly alone. He has cut all connections with his daughter and a response to that a few years ago he said, «I don’t care».
Now he are happy though and have stopped drinking ages ago. We gotta be thankful we still have him, one of the greatest actors ever lived.

Sir Anthony Hopkins, I know you are too busy to read my comments, but I must write something from my heart. You are a wonderful Actor. The Best of The Best, and I have over 30 of your movies. I love you with respect. Please keep making movies, and sharing all your talents. You make people happy because you keep the J in Joy. Thank you, Marion Coleman, Athens, Georgia.

One of the greatest Human Beings to come out of our British acting history! An 'Old Soul' if ever there was one! What a GIFT to our world he has been! His musical composition 'And The Waltz Goes On' is my favourite waltz of all time! It's right up there with Schostakovitch's 2nd waltz from his 2nd Jazz suite!
How you will be MISSED when you finally leave us Sir Anthony! Heaven is in for a treat! 🙏❤🙏
