Like you,the holiday buggy was never on my radar as it were.
But,after acquiring one in order to compete in Peter Smiths dto2 speed challenge this year i was pleasantly surprised !!
It goes together well ,is easy to work on,and really does handle well.....even with the stock pogo sticks!!
Its also extremely tough, ours survived the speed challenge with no breakages ,even on the 11 turn super modified motor and 2s!!
Now its retired from the speed challenge it just has an RZ superstock installed, and is a blast to drive both on,and off road!
Congratulations on getting the paint to stay on guys, and the torque tuned seems to be a good match!
As for the GT tuned,i just dont see a place for it in the Tamiya motor range.....its not much of an improvement over a standard silver can from what ive experienced !
Although its more aesthetically pleaaing with its swanky bell end.....woops,i mean end bell!
    😂😅🤣

I think we will start giving this one a bit of stick to see how the paint holds up long term, but so far so good. I have to say I well prefer the BZ over the RZ, RZ is good for nice flat roads, BZ is great for everywhere, but the Tamiya ESC doesn’t seem to like them, one day I’m sure they will figure out what’s going on in that company, maybe spend less time doing ceremonial lorry nonsense at the beginning of the year and read their internal memos instead 🤷‍♂️

@@RCsoandso I'm pretty sure you are correct with the superstock motors buddy.
The BZ is designed for off road, and the RZ and TZ for sprints and endurance races.
However, i do like the extra speed on the RZ, and it's my go to for my buggies and touring cars as I want them to go as fast as possible (particularly on our figure of eight time trials track which is on road)
I do use the BZ in the ORV monster trucks though which are mainly used off road.....
The lunchies though are far happier with a trusty torque tuned.
It's funny you mentioned this ESC issues, I have at least ten runners on Superstock /TBLE02S set ups and have never had any issues.
I have however had lots of problems with the hobby wing 1060s (limp mode, overheating etc)
This is weird, as everyone bashes the Tamiya ESC's, but rave about the 1060s!!?
And yes, Tamiyas marketing team work in mysterious ways!
They have always been that way/will probably never change!
It's like "let's ignore the request by everyone to re re that particular vintage model that would sell HUGE amounts of units worldwide and make us tons of profit!!
Instead let's bring out yet another tt02 that everyone already has, and put some weird body on it from a car that has no cult following! '
      😂😅🤣
Who knows, maybe one day they will shock us all by bringing back the Falcon, 959,king cab and original monte Carlos m01 Mini..... and then announce that proper ball bearings will come in all of their kits as standard from now on!! 😂
I'm not really bashing Tamiya, I'm a fan boy.... and really we are lucky to have all of these re releases of cars from our youth available once again in our 'adult' lives!

I really like the DT-02 platform, they are tough and drive really well! I was just working on one this evening! The paint job looks great and it looked cool zipping around out there. I found the GT Tuned motors are pretty torquey and do well with higher gearing over stock. I have them in a few kits but for the money now I would just get two Sport or Torque Tuned motors for the same price as one GT Tuned!

    • @RCsoandso
      @RCsoandso  2 месяца назад +1

Yeah Torque Tuned is a firm favourite here I have to say, seems just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting 👍
