Tell me about it. This song is incredible. It's great that there are some bands still out there that can pull off the 80's rock style. Damn, what a song.
I still Remember the day i listened this song on the radio for the first time. It was a late spring afternoon, the sky was full of light and i was driving my convertible on a road between the trees.. fallen in love, i still come here sometimes to listen . ..
As with most Afghan Whigs stuff you should give it 3 listens before voicing an opinion on the song. Dulli is the greatest musical artist to come out of the 90's.
Whoever the music director is for Ray Donovan is amazing, they deserve an award. I've heard so much awesome music from that show. This song is hauntingly beautiful❤
This is music that you listen to as you look at a blood-red sunset on a black horse and turn to wave goodbye to your lover, because you're an outlaw, and an outlaw has to be alone. And as you cry silent tears you wave a gentle wave, and then ride into the unknown desert that's ahead as you try to comfort yourself by remembering that you didn't choose this life, it chose you.
Music video inspired by a Clint Eastwood movie 'High Plains Drifter' (1973), in which a sheriff of a town called Lago gets whipped by a gang of gunslingers and outlaws hitting him with cattle whips, and he goes back as an avenging spirit and teaches them and the citizens who just stood by while he was whipped to death a lesson... And he tells the citizens to paint all buildings red and renames the town 'HELL' before the final showdown.
It's artistic license, though there is an Algiers, IN. The US borrowed lots of city names from other countries as people were settling further west. There's a Paris, KY, and Rome, NY, and Alexandria, VA - you get the picture.

I can't get enough of this song... just been listening on repeat the last 24 hours since released... Magnificent. Can not WAIT to hear the rest of D2TB.
Ray Donavon brought me here, this guy sing's this song "Algiers" with so much conviction! Fitting tune for this episode. Never herd of Afghan Whigs, I Love It!!!

So glad to have these guys back on the scene after all this time; not content to rest on their laurels, but with a renewed vigor and sense of purpose that continues to define what these legends are made of and where they are going. Actually, Dulli never left the scene, he just comes out of hiding every once in a while to remind us who he is and why he gets better with age.

Getting a band back together to record new music can be dicey business. Like Guided By Voices, its nice to see the Whigs reuniting with something legitimate to say...what a great tune.
Loved this from the first minute of listening. [though you're point is true in many instances. such are the nuances, etc] Thanks Afghan Whigs. Good to have you back.
A few years ago, I got into a Limo on NYE and Rick was driving. I had no idea who he was, until we starting talking. I really wished he was on this album. Interesting guy.
I'm sure you're awear of the new riders of the purple sage, Garcia started that band, and played pedal steel until buddy cage replaced him. RAY DONOVAN BROUGHT ME HERE :)
This has a really Old school 70's/80's rock feel. I love it!!!!!!!
Same here
Ditto! Come in Ray and tell me about your day.
Same here! Guitar reminds me of Tom Petty (Face in the Crowd). Excellent tune!
Tell me about it. This song is incredible. It's great that there are some bands still out there that can pull off the 80's rock style. Damn, what a song.
Ray fucking Donovan! Broughy all us here
I still Remember the day i listened this song on the radio for the first time. It was a late spring afternoon, the sky was full of light and i was driving my convertible on a road between the trees.. fallen in love, i still come here sometimes to listen . ..
What radio station plays the Whigs ? Omg !
No-one cares.
As with most Afghan Whigs stuff you should give it 3 listens before voicing an opinion on the song. Dulli is the greatest musical artist to come out of the 90's.
im loving "it kills"
I loved it after the first listen
This was an instant classic for me after the first minute.
Greg Dulli has truly perfected the craft.
I've heard it about 300 times. IMHO you are absolutely correct.
Pretentious horseshit is what it is. Maybe I should watch paint dry three times before I voice my opinion.
Whoever the music director is for Ray Donovan is amazing, they deserve an award. I've heard so much awesome music from that show. This song is hauntingly beautiful❤
I first heard on Ray Donovan 👍
True
Wow that’s crazy I’m re watching the series and caught this song at the end of one of the episodes , made me want to look it ❤ great song
I'm here because 8 heard it there and I had to listen to it again and again...... And again
that is so true
I'm here for the afghan whigs, one of the most underrated bands of all time.....
Yeah, a video titled 'The Afghan Whigs - Algiers [OFFICIAL VIDEO]' on their publisher's channel would be the place to go...
this song is fucking incredible. FUCKING INCREDIBLE god damn it.
My hero, Ray Donovan. What a mother fuckin awesome family. Great series. Best since The Sopranos.
This is music that you listen to as you look at a blood-red sunset on a black horse and turn to wave goodbye to your lover, because you're an outlaw, and an outlaw has to be alone. +Socratic Paradox so beautiful
+Socratic Paradox forgive me... but i just got an erection!
Socratic Paradox - excellent and beautiful poetry which truly lives as an image in my mind whilst reading your words. Bravo!
Outlaws don't cry
@@DavidGriffin-ww2fk Crying isn't a weakness.
this song is way too underrated
Absolutely!
And so fucking amazing! A masterpiece.
One of their best imho.
Underrated by who???
At the age of 26 i had given up on ever hearing another life changing album..... Thank you afghan whigs I have been blown away.
how's life going mate?
what were the others one ?
thats something you shouldnt say until your deathbed
I am here because I am a fan of the Afghan Whigs. Not because of some TV show. But hey, whatever leads you to this great music is a good thing!
Rochelle Pettijohn me too 👌
Rochelle Pettijohn me too :)
Yes, but thanks to Ray Donovan for the extra 500K views.
Check out Morrisey. He's from the 80s. Music is like fashion. It always comes back around
Dulli's voice hasn't lost a thing. Still great as ever.
This is one of those magical songs that does what you want it to do and goes where you want it to go, all before you realize it.
this is why afghan whigs is one of my favorite bands, 16 years after their last album they come back with the same vibe and appeal but doing new stuff
I think I caught Covid at the Afghan Whigs concert this past Tuesday but it was worth it. They sound so great live
"Dream your sins away. Sin your dreams away..." 🎯
Love from Algiers , Algeria .great song thank you ♡♡♡♡♡
Damn this song is so catchy it's been stuck in my head for days, when I listen to it I can feel myself in the back of that limo
Hello beautiful Brooke❤️❤️❤️❤️
Iam algerian and idk what this song has to with my country but i must say : this is a gem i found !
It's artistic license, though there is an Algiers, IN. The US borrowed lots of city names from other countries as people were settling further west. There's a Paris, KY, and Rome, NY, and Alexandria, VA - you get the picture.
New Orleans
I live in Algiers, New Orleans, where Rosser was living.
Doesn’t have much to do with our Algiers, either 😆

The Last true Rock Star.
Faith, the diamond in the chain
Still I was a slave
Waiting to be saved
Dream
The body sleeps, but I
Am not too proud to roll
On the back streets
It's oh so simple when you know
You'll know this when it's time to go

The lonely past you've sold
Paradise

The body leaves the bone
To sit upon the throne
The battle waged for life

Dream your sins away
Sing your dreams away
Your holding back
Stop holding back a chain
Say you love me tonight
Save your love for me tonight
And I feel you now
I lie awake and love drunk
I feel you now

I dont know why but this song runs through my mind at least once a week....I'm obsessed.
Did anyone else Shazam the shit out of the closing credits to Ray Donovan this week? :D
No you lazy person. I memorized a lyric and googled it the old-fashioned way!!!
aMacFanatic Its a bitch listening on headphones and trying to hold the phone up to the phone to shazam it!
aMacFanatic Haha, that's how I did it, too.Nice tune.
aMacFanatic hahaha
aMacFanatic same here ... old-fashioned way (y)
I can't get enough of this song... just been listening on repeat the last 24 hours since released... Magnificent. Can not WAIT to hear the rest of D2TB.
This goes through the whole body in many aspects …
This song really grows on you, like a lot of 1965 I didn't really like it at first but then I needed to hear it again. The Whigs always amaze me.
They got me with the guitars...just the composition; it’s genius.
damn this song gives me true detective vibes....man i miss that show
Yeah, shame that this record didn't come out a year ago. T-Bone may have picked a track from it to use.
haha damnn soo true
Record came out 4-15-14. Almost a year
Excellent song. Dulli's voice is aging and sounds better than the 90s.
Ray Donavon brought me here, this guy sing's this song "Algiers" with so much conviction! Fitting tune for this episode. Never herd of Afghan Whigs, I Love It!!!
This music video is fully based on "High Plains Drifter" a western movie with Clint Eastwood from the 70s! Great music! Great Video! Great Band!
I can’t even explain how much I love this song. It just has something so unique. And of course, it reminds me of that episode of Ray Donovan.
This line amazes me,"Dream..dream your sins away, sin your dreams awaaay...still holdin back!"
Greg's voice is bone chilling. Love the Whigs
The amount of talent this man has is astounding, its a damn shame that nobody knows who he is.
I must say: Thank you Ray Donovan....the song is so good!!!!!!
Ray fucking Donovan
Vinod SobalO
A strong striker strummer and singer songwriter isn't a song without poetry in motion..
A fine example of a song sung.

Nice nod to “High Plains Drifter.”
Death rides in a pale Lincoln as intended with style. 😂

Ray Donovan thank you....and love the high plains drifter connection
I haven't listened to these guys in years. just felt the urge. this song shows off some of their influences, like Roy orbison and the church.
