Both him a Kurt died the same date April 5th , 8 years apart. One of My sisters birthday is April 4th and she was born the day mlk was assassinated and I was born hours after Bob Marley passed away. I’m not religious but I am spiritual when it comes to life and death. It’s a weird concept but all life is sustained by the death(s) of other beings (were sustained by harvested plants , animals, microlife and phytolife yet were are all one. Like the cells in our bodies we are but a very small part of the larger world and ecosystems with it. follow Buddhist philosophy as best I can. Life is full of suffering and pain in infinite ♾ forms. The only out of that trap is to accept there would be no good without the bad and be thankful for the opportunity to learn from that uncomfortableness and suffering in order to better ourselves as Wells’s the life’s of our fellow residents of the universe. Easy to say But that’s incredibly hard to do when your going through some real hardships!

I’m aware the police had to break in etc but hearing Mike talk about it and his demeanor on celebrity rehab with Nancy I’ve always had the gut feeling Layne died while Mike was there. Mike discovered him and seeing that Layne was already gone left fearing he would be in trouble. When he was speaking with Nancy he just seemed like he was holding back and couldn’t let that guilt out. I could be totally of based and have no evidence of it just my opinion. Either way RIP to both Mike and Layne.

Yeah I’ve always said this, unfortunately Mike himself has been dead over a decade, so we will never know. I personally believe, either Mike actually didn’t see him that day, made the story up, or he saw him die, cleaned up best he could for Laynes sake, and left. They didn’t find much dope, so Mike took it, for himself, but the way Layne, and the house itself looked at that time, god I can’t imagine, and I don’t see Layne letting anybody see that, but if anybody it would be Mike, we truly will never know.

I read a comment on facebook of a friend of Demri, she wrote Layne and Demri tried to stay clean but drug dealers knew where Layne lived and used to wait for them outside the house. So I feel a bit angry when I listen Your Decision written by Jerry. I don't think we can't understand a heroin addict, if many people have died it means it's extremely difficult to get clean.

Addicts have to decide to get help for themselves. I used to be an addict, too. I quit because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. Your heart is in the right place, but addicts have to decide to get help themselves. Phil Anselmo (of the band Pantera) did that, too. (Sorry for the late reply; I just found your comment.) Edit: I get why you feel that way, though.

Life is so danm precious and we as human beings think money and success can cure our pains and problems but in the end everything we do is about choices. I'm a fan of AIC and they ar😂a great band. The problem is it’s the lifestyle, sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll have been synonymous with each other since it began, if he’d been a gardener or a fireman or any other person he probably still be alive today. Some guys can do the drugs and the lifestyle and the sex but not let it overtake them, classic example is look at the Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin. I’m sure they’ve had their fair share of addiction, never let it gain control of them to this extent. Sad end.

Cornell, Cobain, Staley all suffered from severe addiction, alcoholism and depression. The reason Laynes addiction killed him is because he wanted that, his life was empty after his wife's death.

Obviously every member helped create the incredible music of AIC my personal favorite vocalist in music/incredible lyricist, one of my favorite guitarist in music/great singer in his own right, criminally underrated drummer & two equally great bassist again all imo! That being said Layne would’ve always been iconic without addiction it would be a diff type of iconic but still amazing I’m sure we all can agree! Unfortunately it was a tragic path but he expressed the anger, loneliness, emptiness etc in such a way it’s like he’s singing to just you! His art through so much tragedy helps us who experience it relate like we’re not alone no other musicians life gets me emotional thinking about them like Layne but what left behind really is special as horrible as his life ended up & I feel the pain I’m in still isn’t at the level he ended up (not to compare tragedies) but it’s bad enough that I truly relate to his words even more so then I did years ago even as a huge fan then! I’m ion a very bad place emotional right now not to get into details so trying to imagine the pain getting worst to just being close to how he probably felt is a very terrifying thought! Thanks Layne & also Mike for giving us some of the best music ever created!

I was born in 67 and heard Alice in chains many times but it wasn't until some time after 9/11 did i feel more linked to the lyrics. And the river of deceit just blows my mind as to how some things in life really are. Now any time i hear him i just want to hear more and feel so sad for him for having lost his loved one and going into seclusion. One thinks someone should or could have done something but some times not always but i do know it's hard to change someone if they don't want to change them self. It's kind of hard to imagine the world being a lonely place for a soul. But it can be. Shine in Heaven the guiding light of Layne Staley from DOGMAN@NAMGOD

It's been said that he spent the last months of his life pumping heroin and playing video games. He also made withdrawals from the ATM for his fix since thebank had mentioned the day of his death is when they no longer saw withdrawal activity.
