      And compare this to the absolute crap that most interviews are. Always nice when intelligence is present in😊 more than one person.

    I've tried watching interviews on Small Things Like These before, but often ended up turning them off because the interviewers were so off-putting. I didn’t have high expectations for this one either, but I was pleasantly surprised! You are smart, engaging, respectful, and clearly knowledgeable. I hadn’t seen your work before, but I was happy to spend half an hour on this interview and came away really impressed.

    Good movie, i so loved the silent bubbling emotions. That's powerful. Heartbreaking for the young girls an woman who had to go through this.

    Hope this comes to Australia. Read the book - haunting. No mention in our Sydney movies lists yet. Greater Sydney has 4.6 million population and an Irish Diaspora and an Irish film festival.

      With Cillian Murphy heading the cast, I'm sure you'll be seeing the film in the Antipodes before long. "The Quiet Girl" was released to tremendous public and critical acclaim in Ireland and the UK in mid-May 2022, but we didn't see it here in Ontario, Canada, until the following March, ten months later!

    Here in southeastern Ontario, Canada, I'm fortunate to have an independent, three-screen cinema within a 20-minute drive of my home, which has announced it will begin showings of "Small Things Like These" on November 22nd. It's the same theatre where last March I saw--several times--"The Quiet Girl", another award winning film based on a book by Claire Keegan, "Foster", and directed by Irish film director, Colm Bairead. In fact, I can't help but think that the worldwide success of "The Quiet Girl", my favourite film of the past several years, helped facilitate the production of "Small Things Like These" by demonstrating how popular a film adaptation of a Claire Keegan story dealing with an Irish topic could be.

      Just wondering if you have looked at Canada's history of mother's homes, stolen babies. It's happened in many countries.

    • @TomBrzezicki
      @TomBrzezicki 2 месяца назад +2

      @@lenacraig377 Yes, from the 1950s through to about 1980, thousands of First Nations children were wrenched from their family homes and placed for adoption in white, middle-class Canadian homes, where they lost all sense of their language and culture. There were also the thousands of First Nations children who ended up in residential schools, where they were physically and sexually abused, many dying under mysterious circumstances.

      @TomBrzezicki I appreciate your response Tom. Yes all that happened and many other countries as well. I have been researching and speaking to others in regards to the history of stolen children who we also sent overseas and many of them used as experiments also. I don't think that there is a proper count done as yet as to how many babies were stolen but it could go into hundreds and thousands, perhaps millions.
      Once again thank you.
