    Great job! Plumbing isn’t meant to be a work of art. As long as all the parts are where they need to be and you use the right amount of primer and glue, then the job is complete. My guests won’t care about an itty bitty purple stain on a pipe. What matters is that the pool is clean and safe to use.

      @@enriquel765 No Name is right. Pool plumbing is an art. Not a visual art but more of a water flow art. This video shows that he's proud of a HUGE footprint and and lack of knowledge in water flow. A perfectly plumbed system would have absolutely no short 90's. Long 90's and/or double 45's for all turns. The goal is an extremely low head pressure at the filter. Most installers make the glue look nice and shrink the footprint as small as possible like yourself. The difference for the homeowner is not having to get up and bypass the filter when they want super strong jets from the spa or crazy water features, waterfalls, etc etc. Flow is key. It's worth the extra $20 in fittings...

      Using purple ensures that the particular pipe is thoroughly primed. Unless your an acrobat and can flip over to check the underside of the pipe, its the best route for a proper fit. Yes it may look nasty and not so pleasant, does it work? It will if you use purple primer for clarification that it's primed correctly.

    Until the check valve in front of the pump gets snagged full of debris. Discharge 3 way pointed at house and not necessary at all.

    Did you ever think about spray painting all those pipes, maybe a tan? Also, that filter has a plug on the bottom. You could attach a threaded fitting and ball valve to it to drain the filter. Can't tell where you are, SW?, but maybe freezing isn't an issue.

      I'm building an enclosure over this so it won't be exposed to the sun, so I'm not worried about looks. I know some people commented about the looks but I designed this for function and high water flow, not for looks, ie the blue primer and glue. Also, I am installing a bathroom next to this and I'll be plumbing in a drain for the pool pump, but that's a good idea to install a drain for the filter as well. I'll make sure to do that, thanks!

    • @krehbein
      @krehbein 3 года назад

      @@wompus44 No problem, painting the pipes is mostly aesthetics. Plus you’ll cover them with a roof. To clean the filter, sometimes I open the bottom and spray the cartridges in place, so having that plumbed helps.

    Purple primer and glue never looks good. Nice setup but I’ve installed much cleaner pads with clear primer and clear heavy glue. Pro tip, use jandy valves instead of those cheap ball valves that get sun baked after a year. Love the sacrificial anode, don’t see that enough.

    The correct way is to never use blue glue or purple cleaner on any of the plumbing above dirt level. Looks like shit 💩 and all the return pipes are in the middle of nowhere! Definitely should be closer to the equipment itself. Inlet and outlets should’ve been further to the right for a snug neat look. Overall functional but not top notch in my opinion 🤷‍♂️👍 also 3 way valves look neater to me.

    Unacceptable. God awful glue joints. Manufacturer doesn't recommend that you set the filter on anything besides the pad. Returns are nowhere near the equipment. Cheap ball valves that will not hold up to the chemicals. Self priming pump so check valve is completely unnecessary unless the pool is below grade of the equipment by a significant amount. No bypass for heater. No bypass between pump and filter for vacuuming...if you would have turned the heater to where the control panel was facing opposite of the fence you wouldn't have had to run a pipe on front of the pump pot, making it difficult to service. Very intrusive. I wouldn't have posted this.

    Ball valves are junk. Only use quality Jandy or Pentair diverters. Check valve before the pump shouldn't be necessary. Sacrificial anode doesn't do anything. No heater bypass. Check valve isn't needed with a SWCG (only a tab feeder). SWCG should be hump down so the plates are completely submerged. Flow gauge optional (doesn't do very much). This is a poor example of a pad setup.
