Nice clean plumbing. Not trying to bust chops, but those outlets should be at least 6 ft from the edge of the water. And the heater also needs to be bonded by grounding wire to the frame of the pool. That grounding rod you have now is great but make sure its grounded to the pool frame also. Tie the grounding wire from the heater into the same wire as the pump. That way it is also bonded to the frame of the pool. Otherwise looks great!
Can I ask what your experience is with this? Not being a dick just genuinely curious. Friend of mine and myself are starting to do gas line install and heater installs and piping heater to filter and pool and definitely want to be as professional as possible so I’d really like to have a full understanding of what exactly it is you’re talking about with the electrical side.

What I do know is in Texas they required the gas line to be buried and then coming up to the appliance, whatever that might be. That may have been done, just not sure from the video. I noticed you used a copper rod. In my opinion you can't have enough of those. My last pool I had was prior to 2014 and bonding wasn't a word. Today it seems that bonding is a thing and was wondering if your pool is bonded. Fancy name for grounding the way I see it and the expense of more to do with the same end results. Definitely envied for the heater...bet that is super nice! ENJOY!!!
Great instructions. We just put a 30ft above aground in last July. Looking to get something to heat pool first and last few months of the season. Yours is pretty sophisticated and complicated. I hoping to make this much more simple, if I can. ( my husband will not have any part of a project like this) lol. But I might be back for some questions or tips, once I do a little more research.

I couldn't get my 10' Intex pool above 76 degrees the year prior and last year I got it to 90 and had to put ice in it. This worked so well! I have just 1 mat hooked up to a 1,000 GPH Intex pump and it makes a significant reduction in the flow rate coming back into the pool, but that is to be expected with how far the water has to travel through the mat.

I have a oval pool 18'x33"x52, the pool guy recommended a LP gas, Hayward H series 150K BTU, I'm in NY. He figured by the pool water surface, not gallons, make sense? 150kBTU is enought? I hate to get a heater that will be running at max to give 1° an hour. LP is not chiep, $3.90 gl. If anyone have suggestions, pictures will be aprecieted.

You should have a check valve in between your heater and your chlorine feeder, so it doesn’t rot out your heater core when the highly concentrated chlorine traveling backwards

Fyi..we are having similar pool installed..electrical ppl were here and informed us if electrical box outlet is within 5 ft of waters edge...the steel sided pool HAVE to be bonded. Pool shop never told us...so we plan to have outlet set just over the 5 ft and under the 6 ft cord range. No matter what pool sellers tell you DONT put it on extension cord! Also needs a dedicated circuit.
The heater is on a dedicated line with a GFCI, its only sharing the same conduit with the box above it. I never knew about pool bonding, i looked it up, ill get it done... thanks.

yes they are female threaded adapters, and i also used plumbers tape on the threaded end. I installed the unions so I can disconnect all the plumbing and store it over the winter in the house, and also so i can disconnect the filter to change the sand. They are female unions.

How often do you run the heater and what temperature do you like to keep you pool set at? I have a similar setup however i've had lots of trouble with the heater coil leaking (somehow gets a hole) . I'm very happy with the heater. I only run the heater the night before we go in the pool, which is maybe once or twice a week. I like to keep the pool at 89 to 90 degrees. I beleive my chlorinator might be discontinued because I cannot find a link for it.
Our PSI gauge on our sand filter is no longer reading once heater was installed. Presser is strong at release. Any thoughts on what the issue might be?
Great job , im trying to hook up the water lines from my sand filter to the pentair heater and they are not the same size as my last heater so none of my hose fittings are the correct size , my question is did you hook up pvc fittings to the threaded male fittings on the pentair ?

Where ever the flex pipe attached to is usually threaded. @@poljana good question. I had originally ran a 3/4" line to the heater, and before I fired it up my plumber friend came over and read from the manual that it specifically required a 1" line. So I had to replace the whole line lol. I had to tap in to the 1" gas line from the source coming into the basement at the front of the house. Don't make my mistake, read the manual lol.
Hi, I'm no expert on gas line size, but believe it or not, most residential natural gas lines run at 1.5 psi MAX! Based on this, the size of the line is based on 4 things: Distance from the gas meter to the heater, size of the pipe, number of appliances drawing from the meter, and btu requirements of the heater. I ran 1" flexible poly gas line underground with risers on both ends that tied to CSST (corrugated stainless steel gas tubing) that connected to 1" black pipe within my basement. My actual heater (150k btu Raypak) uses a 3/4" inlet so I had to choke down the 1" to 3/4" at the heater, BUT this is much different than trying to run 3/4" the whole run (62' underground in my case). Next trip to Home Depot, pick up one of the Home Flex free install guides and it helps to explain the line sizes needed. You will never go wrong with larger pipe other than a bit more cost vs smaller.
Comment just on electrical ground rod should be driven all the way down into earth nothing sticking up second that’s a Romex indoor connector on yr power cord it should be a weatherproof connector it’s called a cgb connector
Only thing different I would have installed a much bigger heater. I can get my spa that’s connected to to pool from freezing to 102* in 35min. Installed a 4000btu Hayward

You need to put a check valve in the valve that is closer to the chlorinator. The other two that are closer to the filter are OK.

I think most heaters/heatpumps come with 2 inch unions so you just need 2x1.5 reducers.

Hi thanks great video, question is do you have the heater on a timer to work in connection with the pump? Or does it come on with water flow?
The heater turns on and off with temperature setting. I keep it set at 91, so it maintains 91° all day, everyday unless I turn it off.

Please add a check valve between the heater and the chlorinator as soon as possible. Will cost you a heater in a few years if you do not.
