      What if you have a dual system with desperate return and intake systems? How do you fix the return part? We have already reinstalled the T ft 1 1/2 inch pipe and put a new elbow and 2 other small marts, to take care of a leak, but now the homeowner reports an issue with the return system. What do we do.

    Thank you for your video. I have a Polaris and the screen was getting pebbles in it so I thought it was stupid to have this hooked up to the system before it went through the filter so I changed it to what you're calling the return side. It's never quite worked right since. So I'm about to replumb everything to put an inline chlorinator I know that needs to go on the return side I was going to switch the Polaris back to the pressure site at least that's what I thought it was called. I would assume the pressure side would be before the filter and after the pump because I read that the Polaris need to be hooked up to the pressure side. You never mentioned pressure side but I understand what the return side is that is after the filter so my question to you is should my Polaris be after the filter the return side thank you

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  Год назад

      I'm thinking by Polaris you're talking about a Polaris "pool sweep" that is a return side "sweep/cleaner". By "return side" I'm talking about the water once it leaves the filter and is returning to the pool.

    Thank you sir for the video. Have a quick question. I have the similar set up for my pool. I turn off the handy valve for my water fall and air feature. And then my water pressure goes way up..passed 10 on the gauge. So I can manually vaccum with better pressure. Is that ok? I also closed my main drain valve also, but when I close the return water flow handy, it runs better. Is that ok? Thank you

    I have the red valve as in this video. When I am running the filter should it be open or closed and what difference will it make? I know when I backwash it obviously needs to be open. I don’t have a spa or water feature, it’s a very simple and kind of primitive but done well type of job. There is something in the back of the pump where you have to turn this white round thing and then move a lever to change how much is coming out from each outlet/skimmer etc but I never touch this but the pool guys adjusted it this summer when they put in our new liner as they said they were not getting a return signal or pressure signal (? If that is the term they used sorry). have primed my pump and released the air from the filter but I have massive small bubbles coming out of one of the returns (the other two returns seem to be fine. I have noticed that when I put shock in my skimmer that the shock comes out of this one return like a big smoke bomb (looks only, it doesn’t actually smoke lol). Does it sound like I may have a leak underground maybe or is there something else I can look at before hiring someone to try and find a leak underground, tear up our concrete, and charge me an arm and a leg??? I am disabled and living on limited income so I really need advice so someone doesn’t take me to the cleaners. Also, about how much would you expect it to cost if there is an underground leak to this one port? I live in New England. I can sent you a quick video of what my system looks like if you think it might help. I really appreciate your help if you can.

    I've got one for you... I have a pool with an attached spa (with a water fall feature). The spa has 5 jets. When the spa is not on, 4 jets are pushing water and one jet is sucking water. Not sure if related, but 1 of the 3 return jets in the pool is lower pressure than the other 2.
    It's driving me nuts. Also. One pump drives both pool and spa.

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  2 года назад +1

      Typically that’s how most attached spas are set up so as to allow flow and circulation to the water in the spa as well. The additional pump for the is usually a booster pump that increases the jet flow for a more therapeutic effect.

    • @gastcast2959

      Yes, it drops the phosphates out of solution and they get caught by the filter. This clogs the filter up and so increases pressure, you have to backwash and keep adding phosphate remover until this stops.

    Is there a recommended pressure of the filter? The one on our filter may up to 20, which is a quarter of the gauge.

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  3 года назад +1

      In a typical sized pool pressure varies between 14 and 25 psi. if you have a pop up system it will fluctuate. If there is return restriction it will go up. If you have a suction blockage it will be low. If your filter is dirty it'll typically be higher.

    I found a hole in one of the filters and replaced the filter. No holes in the others but when I add DE it came put in the pool. What else do I need to look at😊

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  2 месяца назад

      To be honest if there was a hole in one grid it's very possible that another one developed in another grid (especially if the grids are all the same age). Water seeks the path of least resistance and it's so common for a person to replace only the torn grid but the other ones give out under pressure and then you end up going through the process and cost each time it occurs. I ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE that if they have one torn grid REPLACE THE ENTIRE SET to avoid just such a situation. if you did the grid replacement yourself it's possible to have put it in incorrectly (but I'd still lean to my first possibility)
      Lastly if you have an in floor "pop up" cleaning system with a dedicated pump/motor (separate from the filter pump/motor) that could cause the DE to blow back into the pool as well if that pump is running when you recharge the filter.
      First and foremost REPLACE ALL THE GRIDS AND SEE IF THAT TAKES CARE OF IT:

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  Год назад +1

      Pulling the coda is not the concern. Rather it's why there is little or no circulation when the pump is running. I'm taking a shot in the dark on this one but you may want to check your pump impeller for debris. (Watch this video: ruclips.net/video/1xuGFGDJBmA/видео.html) Too often the issue you're describing is due to exactly that. So check that out and let me know and we'll go from there.

    I'm gonna apologize in advance for all the questions. I've got several things that I'm trying to figure out.
    1. Are all return jets the same?
    2. I have a pressure-side vacuum port (that I don't use). Can I remove that fitting and use it as a standard wall return?
    3. What is a "T-Jet"???
    4. I've got 2 return jets on a bench seat in the deep end and when they are on they kinda bubble/fizzy, and not full pressure. Is that how it is supposed to be?
    My pool was replumbed last summer for a new filter and I am still trying to identify all the valves.
    Sorry for so many questions; I'm just trying to sort it all out.

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  2 года назад +1

      Hi Sheila. No problem. Here's my answers:
      1. Not necessarily. Some are a tighter spray pattern than others.
      2. Typically pressure side vacuums have a separate booster pump to run them so why don't you just disable that pump and plug that line on the side wall of your pool.
      3. I believe the T-Jet is the Turbo T-Jet Robotic Pool Vacuum.
      4. Those jets on that step in the deep end are more than likely "therapy jets" that are supposed to bubble to give a sort of massage like effect when you get close to them. Think of a muscle massager. There usually is an air port near the jets where air is sucked into the jets to create the effect. So that's normal and how it's supposed to be. If you start seeing a lot of air coming out of your other return jets that's when you need to check for air leaks in pump, etc.
      Hope this helps.If you email me a picture or video of your current set up I can help you identify things. kennypoolschool@gmail.com

      Irt #2 question,
      I only have one pump so everything is on it. I did go ahead and removed the vacuum port fitting and it seems like a regular return but with less oomph. You would think it would have more oomph because it's supposed to power a vacuum but I guess maybe you would close off or turn down the other returns when you are using it. Idk. That's the only thing I can figure out.
      I've attached a surface skimmer to it and it seems to be functioning just fine.

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  2 года назад +1

      @@SheilaSpencer1 There should be some type of valve on the return side of your plumbing that allows you to adjust how much flow goes to that particular port.

    • @PoolSchooler
      @PoolSchooler  2 года назад +1

      @@SheilaSpencer1 Sounds like you have things well in hand. Way to go! The only thing about that vac port is making sure the opening is not large enough to allow a small child to get their hand stuck in it. If it does seem like that could be a danger then you should be able to install a standard return port to it. Just take the port you removed from there to the pool supply store so they can size it with a regular return port.

    • @PoolSchooler

      I would only suggest getting a variable speed pump when you’re single speed pump/motor finally goes bad. Are used to not be a fan of the variable speed motor and pump’s because they were so new but they definitely have proven themselves my two favorite in order our number one the Hayward and number two Pentair. They seem to last quite a long time especially because the motor doesn’t have to turn so fast all the time.
