For me, gold is for preservation of wealth, silver is simply for commerce. If you’re rich in a metals-based society, you’ll have a pile of gold and then convert what you need to silver to do your daily business. Silver might perform better than gold sometimes, but storage is much more difficult… literally 80 to 1! $300 of gold is smaller than a dime, $300 of silver is about 8 huge solid ounce coins. In CAD.

Its very practical to store one tube or less of gold at home. More than that should be stored in commercial vaulting. Silver should not be bought at all. Its not worth enough to be bothered with.
"Silver should not be bought at all. Its not worth enough to be bothered with." Owning silver (for me) is about what it will become worth in a SHTF situation when the US$ takes a huge dump. I can see its use as barter money. Think Venezuela and Zimbabwe type situations here. Chances of that happening in the US are miniscule... but not zero. But whatever floats your boat. That is the essence of stacking, IMO. We can tailor it to fit each of us exactly. I would trade about 2/3 of my silver stack for gold if we ever have a repeat of the GSR from 2011. Back then, the GSR dropped to a low of about 32:1. Yeah, I'd trade 32 ounces of silver for an oz. of gold. 🙂
