I know you have viewers of all kinds, thru the spectrum of experience level. But I was new to gold panning when I found you, and your stuff like this is really excellent in the RUclips of people doing this you are tops. I like Gary at Two Toes, also, but because you taught this in a high school, you know how to present it educationally. Very well done.

Well said. Dan was the very first RUclips video I watched. I was hooked from the start by his smile and how he explained things so that someone like me readily understood. I went back and watched everything he had posted. I particularly loved him teaching the students how to make a classifier, dredge, etc. If I was not disabled, I would have ordered a pan and hit a local creek right then! He is genuine with a big heart 💕

24:50 I know of a spot with shale exactly like that in a stream bed! AND, it's PERPENDICULAR to the water flow! >_____> Uhm, I gotta go now. I have some... laundry. yeah. *grabs his pan and rushes to the stream!*

Cool, just catching up. I’ve just come to Ballarat in Victoria Australia. It’s the base of the golden triangle where over the last 150 years they have recovered 2.5 million kg ( yes kg) of alluvial and deep lead gold. All hints welcome…lol. For a start I found a large piece of opal. Keep looking though lots of very dirty mineralised quartz

Dan ! Greetings from the other side of the world - Bulgaria.
I just want to let you know that i learned Aloooot from you and i'm really greatful about that ! Thank god he showed me your channel !!
I'm writing this to inform you and ask you that one day when i can afford to come to you i really want to meet you in private and teach me some or many of your knowledge. It's gonna require me alot of cash to come but it doesnt matter becauase one day i'm gonna have it and i will meet you.
Thank you brother, thank you for showing us you knowledge and experience it means alot for me. Thank you !
I'm working on a river where the gold starts from 50-60 sm and deeper and it amazes me how you find gold in the first layers of the material (Frazer River)
It is really hard to get to the golden material here trust me :D But thanks god the river is 20 km from my house so, it's kinda easy to get to it when i got the money and time for that ofcourse.
Thank you Dan! I wish more people were like you those days... People forgot who they are, and what they are capable of ... They forgot to be good and helping ! Thanks god for letting you existing in this world so we can learn from you.
I pray to god to give me the oportunitys to meet you one day.
First thing i'm gonna do is to Bow at you !
Hope you see this comment and just make you smile :) hope you have alot of gold in your pocket and happiness in your hearth.
(I wish Frazer River was in my country lol :D gonna make a cabin next to it for sure :D ) 😊

Hey Dan, how do you expect me to sit still and not scream at each of the potential gold laden areas? I'll be honest: I couldn't do it. Even I was pointing out places right before you mentioned them. I wish I wasn't disabled so that I could buy a pan and just enjoy the quest (no gold around here). However, the quiet, peaceful beauty of the site would be good enough for me to enjoy. That is some amazing history.
I was laughing when you said "fun guy." Tee hee! 😂 But you missed the other name, "fun Gus." Hee hee! You made my day! 😁
I'm so glad that you're enjoying life and more relaxed than usual. I pray for you and your family all the time. Your overall health dictates what you can and can't do in life. For me it's my back, hip and leg. Everything I do revolves around that. That is why I live vicariously through you! 🤩 Thank you so much for all you have shared and will share. You are a great person and educator, with a big heart! Tell everyone I said hello and send hugs and blessings from Alabama ❤️

I like to say gold is where no one else has found it. I've found some of My best gold in places that break the rules. Like, on the out side of corners, sitting on smooth bedrock, or in front of a boulder. Just look where no one else has thought to look, especially in a well mined area.

Buy a gold pan kit get a large black tub then buy a bag of pay dirt. Pan the pay into the black tub over and over until you can pan. Unless you live near a place to legally pan for gold if so skip buying pay dirt. For those that were taught to pan by someone like for example Dad please teach someone else what you have learned.

Just find a popular bank fishing spot or 3 and pan there for fishing sinkers during low water .
Boat ramps are also good spots .
It gets lead out the environment which makes some folks happy , you get free fishing tackle which might make some others happy or highly upset , (some folks are just wired that way ) , and , teaches you a skill or helps keep that skill set sharp .
Sure , lead isn't as heavy as gold , but , it's heavy enough for most purposes .
If you don't have any lead , melt some solder into droplets and use the solder to practice with .
Or just cut it into various size pieces .
