Did this today on my Predator that I have had for 3 years, it was starting to tire. Not sure if I applied the thermal paste correctly. But the result is exceptional ! Thank you very much !
8:20 on my machine all 4 had screws in them Edit: I think the fans and heatsink were a bit different for my model. I had 4 screws connecting the fans to the case / motherboard, with all visible screwholes occupied, and none connecting them to the heatsink, it seems they were only taped to the heatsink.
Hello thanks for your video ... I contacted ACER about my PREDATOR Laptop model PH317-52-737C, they say that it only supports m.2 PCIe 3.0 SATA SSD (it is not very fast), but I see that you are installing an NVMe SSD on it. .. The one you use for upgrade is M key and the SSD that comes with the laptop is B + M key ... Did it connect correctly? . Does the laptop use the full speed of the new NVMe SSD you are installing? ... do you recommend trying with a NMVe PCIe 4.0?
Does the pin type of the M.2 slot matter in this case? The SSD in the video has a B+M configuration, but the one you have linked in the description has an M configuration. Are they interchangeable in this case?
Sometimes putting some electrical tape over the screw and press down on to it with the screwdriver can help it grip - open the laptop up with the screen off the edge of the desk to avoid damaging the screen. Alternatively, carefully drill out the screw head and then remove the rest with screw extracting pliers once the panel is removed.
Left system running Prime 95 whilst editing the video and then Unigine Heaven overnight - temperatures very good, CPU maxed out at around 60c. Much better than before as the horrible clagged up fan didn't seem to be moving much air.
I am currently using an external SATA SSD with an enclosure connected via USB, would it be possible to put it in the slot that the HDD is currently in?
@@BrueComputing ok thank you. But there is another problem: I can’t open the fan case so I can’t clean it even though I got the same laptop. What should I do?
praying that this channel is still active with their comments, im panicking. when cleaning the thermal paste after removing the GPU n CPU from the motherboard i. cleaned the thermal pads off the heatsink without thinking much of it, only realizing now that mightve been a horrible idea, will my PC be okay?
Nice video! I have the same laptop but I haven’t used for a long time. It works really slow, do you think the dust inside the laptop which has been built up over the years is causing the problems?
@@BrueComputing It seems that I do have SSD installed, however i am not sure if it a good SSD (HFS128G39TND-N210A). I am buying an external ssd, do you think it would improve the performance? or would you recommend installing additional internal ssd?
i have same laptop, if you use windows on nvme m.2 disk, it iwill never work slow, it's 4 years old laptop, but still speedy in daily tasks, you can even game with it, plus you could also disable a lot of services that start with windows that are not necessary at all, i also have it with 8 gb x 2 sticks, not 8 gb x 1
Hello, could you tell me? If it works, putting higher frequency ram instead of putting 16 GB 2666 MHz, use Kingston FURY Impact 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) 3200MHz DDR4, does it work? thank you

I'm not a computer guy by any stretch but I was able to get this done thanks to your video. Thank you!
Nice upgrade - I bet the laptop now performs even better then new.
Great video! Thanks a lot, was my 1st time doing this but u made it easy:)

Hi B.C., what is the spray you use to both clean fans and disolve old thermal paste ?
Isopropanol alcohol
@@BrueComputing Thank you. 👍
@@eti32neg.55 You're welcome.
Which configuration of SSD us have used. What is the maximum expandable of SSD i can install ??
i have the same laptop but i cant take it apart since one of the screws has stripped head do you know anything that could help removing it?

Very very big thanks!!!!
The liquid you used for the cleaning of the fans, was the just basic Iso-Propanol or something else? Appreciate the video!
A few years ago so don't remember - probably was IPA yes.
How difficult is it to change the battery while in in there? Also, best source for replacement batteries? Acer is not very helpful.
I have a question...about those little pads inside the machine..i don't have them any more..With what i can replace those?
18:54 Probably shouldn't have pulled off the heatsink after applying new thermal paste, its gonna have tiny micro gaps and air bubble's
Fair point - I wanted to check I had decent coverage across the chips prior to fitting properly.
@@BrueComputing did you do some thermal testing though ?

@@BrueComputing Nice , cool temps , the fan with so much stickiness though , ugh , hahahan 😄😄😄 never seen that before , owner must be indeed a smoker.
Was a new one for me on a laptop - seen similar on desktop systems in the past.
May iknow the exact size of mm of each pad .
It would great help please 🥺🥺🥺

Can I use sanitizer instead of rubbing alcohol? I need a fast answer pls
Never tried it - I'd use something like a small amount surface cleaning spray on a paper cloth if you don't have something more suitable.

Potentially. Does the system have an SSD installed as that makes a big difference to performance?
