Might do this today. Love this laptop, I bought it factory upgraded to a 1 tb SSD so I didnt know it was this simple. Might add a 2tb in the expansion slot.
Make sure any drive you put into slot 2 is single sided crucial p5 plus etc
Worth noting that like most laptops, you need a single sided SSD - that is, one that has memory chips on the top of the SSD only. The ones with memory chips on both sides will not fit because there is no clearance at the bottom of the slot.
Also, when you remove the back, the sliver strip at the rear top of the laptop (i.e. above the part of the laptop behind the screen) pops off very easily. Removing this reveals the hinges, and more importantly, their tensioning nuts. Loosening these by about half a turn will make it very unlikely you will suffer from broken hinges in a few years time.
If you're upgrading now, its probably because you want more than 2 years out of the laptop - so protect those hinges!
To be fair, Acer gaming laptops have less of a rep from broken hinges than the worst offender (MSI - who tend to compete on price for laptops by providing good components in a cheap plastic case), but worth noting if you already have the back off and want to future protect your laptop by more than just memory/SSD upgrades.

well i actually want to say, this is not the way to open this laptop, you may damage its edges .this laptop has markings on the cover in triangle shape, just put your hand in exhaust fans place where marking is indicating on the back, and pull towards yourself it opens up easily with cracking sound, and thats ok, no need to use any tool like metal or plastic to put into its edges to open it,

I just bought an ACER with a 4080.(Bought today, don't have it yet) I've only added RAM to a laptop. I've built probably 8 or so gaming desktops. Can I remove the factory SSD and replace it to delete the bloatware? Just don't know if it's soldered in or not and my Google searches aren't turning up much.

How do I replace the liquid metal with thermal paste? I got the same laptop but the cpu reaches 100 celsius sometimes
liquid metal will not cool much compare with thermal paste. apply new thermal paste, clean the heatsink. hope that helps

@@JustAurai use a hammer and smash it a bunch, opens all the guts up.
Honestly, if you're not able to even take the screws and plastic clips off of the panel pieces, don't try to consider affixing new thermal paste to your gpu/cpu. If you are actually interested in resetting the paste (which everyone will recommend because factory thermal paste is absolute garbage) then look for a guide for that instead of just installing a storage drive lol...
Like most laptops, if you want to re-set the gpu/cpu with paste, you're going to have to take off the fans and heatsinks, so make sure you buy new fans (they cost about 2 dollars a pop, if you're gonna be in there might as well get new ones) you'll no longer have 100C problems anymore.
@@thalanoth I managed to open up the laptop. And no I couldn't find any video which suggests replacing the thermal paste specifically on this laptop, so I came here with the same intent of installing a new drive at the same time. But anyway, thanks
@JustAurai if you can't find resetting thermal paste for gpus in laptops, especially predators, then I don't know what to tell you man. There are hundreds lol, and it's not like they're hidden, they're everywhere
