  • Police in Mexico are increasingly becoming targets of drug cartels.
There has been a surge in killings of men and women in uniform.
But things are particularly bad in the state of Zacatecas, where the number of police killed has tripled in three years.
Al Jazeera's @John Holman reports from Mexico.

The issue I see this. If the police remained armed, there will be corrupt cops that would use their weapons for the Cartel and the other is if they don't have a gun they would be targetted. This isn't a win win to anyone.

I think a lot of ppl are not considering that corrupt cops that choose to do something with their gun, more than likely have another firearm that they will use to whatever it is you hope they wouldn’t with their duty weapon. So do Mexican police not have their own guns when they go home? Sure turn in your service firearm but then have your off duty firearm on you afterwards. All people should have the right to protect themselves. At all times, every moment of every day. This world would be safer in my opinion. Its the politicians around the world that are afraid.
