Havnt watched this all yet, but it seems clear the mexican millitary wanted to show off its army while downplaying the problems in the country. On the other hand, you obviously went down there to investigate the conflicts between the millitary and the cartels.
I visited Mexico, state Guerrero in 1984. I was there on my own during 8 days arriving from Canada. I moved freely and never felt at risk although there were military patrols in streets. Without it the soldiers are only for visual state-power presence without much real effect. This is something only local person can fully appreciate. I think it is still worth of visiting there; the climate and attitude of locals in without parallel on this continent.
In total fairness though you visited during the heights of the Dirty War, the cartels were practically nonexistent and the ones that did operate were still operating under the Pax Mafiosa under the collective name of the Guadalajara Cartel, the Army had a major presence in Guerrero and most of the South because they were mainly there to suppress Indigenous revolts and Socialist peasant movements, like the one at Agua Blanca or the Acteal Massacre, specifically to stop them from gaining any national prominence as the PRI was already faltering under the weight of its own corruption.

The subject matter deserves much more than the overly simplistic lad-like narrative of Reggie.
No it's not safe to vacation in Mexico. So don't go and put your life in danger.
40 yrs of travel in Mexico tells me different. Cartels ARE the government and protect tourists because that’s foreign currency in their pockets. It’s a big no-no to mess with the tourists in Mexico and a sure way to get run out of town at the least.
@@jimgaston9863lol u are not from Mexico bro I'm from df but my parents were born in Chicago so now I live here but if people in Mexico see foreign people their first thought is come up
@@hectorcelaya8225 what does that mean? Mexicans don’t like foreigners? This has not been my experience, maybe it’s just my approach 😂
@@jimgaston9863 No, he means Mexican's welcome foreign tourists.
Meanwhile, two people per day are murdered in Chicago. Every day.
A REAL MAN S JOB ...STAY SAFE YOUNG BROTHERS
@@diro5910 No, solo vez muchas noticias negativas. Si la violencia es endemica debido a la prohibicion de als drogas, pero la economia crece lentamente de todas maneras.
Mexico is beautiful but not with all its terrible areas, violence throughout the region. Maybe I would think twice about going to Mexico. The safest place might be the capital, but now I see a lot of people being killed, even people who work in the government. What is AMLO thinking? If it was violent crime between opponents in the Cartel it wouldn't matter, but what about innocent people. And also no one knows about the disappearance of 43 students.
@@bgsalvr no te entiendo ni vergas mijo estás hablando con un mexicano que no le interesa tu inglés.🦅🇲🇽
Perhaps subsidizing local businesses to provide higher wages, and other incentives, would reduce the allure of the cartel for a teenager’s future.
That is expensive you know. Legalization would cut profits, reducing the allure. It is well known prohibition created the cartels.
@@jonatand2045 You want to legalize heroin?
Won't work. Narcotraficante is embedded in culture now.
Yep. America needs to decriminalize drugs, manufacture and regulate it. Legalization is the way to end this violence in both countries.
Does the couple in the thumbnail have a problem? Where in the video does he talk about that situation? Thnks.
It's about the presence of armed forces in touristic zones and places you woulw consider safe. Very dystopian
