When I do the dry method, I slit the backing paper along the back so a portion of it is removable. I pretape the artwork up with the paper still on to get it lined up, removing the small section of backing paper that I precut, adhere that portion, then remove the rest and apply. It works flawlessly.
Tim. Couple questions. 1. I was going to cover a bare MDF bartop with vinyl. Will the artwork stick to it or should I somehow seal the MDF first? 2. How long does the windex to take to dry under the vinyl? Does the windex affect the longevity of the sticker and promte peeling later in life? Great vids! Thanx!
These guys made things much more difficult than they needed to by removing all of the backing when they applied the one side dry. Instead, use some masking tape to tape the art down where you want it positioned (with the backing still on.) You're making a hinge with the tape so that you can remove part of the backing and apply that section without the art moving. Then you remove the tape and apply the rest of the art. Piece of cake. Doing it the way they did, I can see why they don't like applying artwork using the dry method LOL.
Good video but I recommend against glass cleaner, it can cause tint and stickers to fade after time. The best method is to use water with a very small amount of baby shampoo, the same measurements you'd use for window tint which is about half a teaspoon per gallon of water.
Can you tell us where you get your artwork? I think someone else asked as well. I need reproduction artwork for a dart machine valley cougar SM. Trying to restore cabinet but want it done right and looking at options for side vinyl or painting, can you advise ?
For your project, Gameongrafix.com is probably your best bet. Great quality and will print custom artwork as well. As for side vinyl or painting. The choice is up to you. We typically go the painting route but will sometimes go the vinyl route depending on the project. At some point I will have to do this. I have an X-Men children of the atom that was converted to Street Fighter II alpha, which I will convert back to X-Men. Got the original Sidard decals. The ones on there now have been abused and damaged.

Best artwork video ever! I really liked the stereo sound and HD picture!
thanks for the tutorial. I'll be doing this for the first time in the next week or so and this video is tremendously helpful!
Excellent video and tips. Will definitely try the wet method when I get some side art for my cabinet.

Good video, but I think it was cut a little too soon.
Don't force that dry method, slippery when wet is wise, although personal choice
nothing change here
I fixed the game, then I played the game, what should I do next?
Wet method every time!
Actually...this video as a whole is a poor instructional for applying vinyl.
