I love how dark SC1 is. This was the end of the story for almost a decade and a half. The bad guys won. Kerrigan betrayed and killed tons of people. The only reason she doesn’t kill everyone is because she just doesn’t feel like it today. Mengsk is the undisputed leader of the Terran Dominon. The UED is slaughtered wholesale. Zeratul is dishonored and he and Raynor are in hiding. The Protoss as a civilization are shattered.
And the crazy part, you did it.
Darker to think that as a Cerebrate (zerg player) you helped Kerrigan to gain control and rule but in the end you know you will die since Cerebrates are meant to have the Overmind as their master. So essentially you willingly killed yourself.
As a UED Captain (terran player) , you are also most likely dead same as most of the UED remnants.
As for the Protoss, since you are Artanis (protoss player), you take up the mantle of the leader of your people. This is the best outcome out of the three commanders in the Broodwar campaign.
@@senpainoticeme9675 Cerebrates dying is SCII lore not SCI. The SCI cerebrate was fine serving Kerrigan
DuGalle's death scene was awesome
and after this event begins starcraft 2, correct?
but still, after this event, everything settles down and leads into starcraft 2 4 years later right?
Dugalle's death hits the feels man...
It makes me sad
...
Cant believe that all of you didn't even said a word about UED . Press F for blizz they will never give as them back
DuGalle as Coop Commander?!
Pls I need more UED Blizzard!
Yeah they said they didn’t want another human evil faction. There was already the Dominion, the confederacy and Reynors raiders
@@KevinMartinez-oz6gl The UED were never really evil. Just misguided.
Man, fuck the UED. I'm glad they spent the rest of the saga just sitting back at Earth and moping to themselves.
@@SteelShroom256 No.
Still get chills from this, after all these years
You will never see me again my Helena.
"I killed him, my pride killed him and now my pride has consumed me." Truly bone chilling words read by a man on the cliffs edge.
That makes me wonder if Helena ever got his message...I know it said no ship ever made it back to Earth, but could they still send transmissions somehow? If not, what was up with the cinematic from the Terran campaign? I imagine that was made to be broadcast back on Earth.
@@Hulavuta I have to imagine that they meant that no UED ship made it back to report first hand. DuGalle's letter makes it sound like his wife had heard the propaganda lies about Stukov, so it must have been possible to send messages.
@@darth856 well he knew that the troops would report the official story about Stukov once they got back anyway
Back when Kerrigan was possessed by satan and the universe's destiny was as obscure as dark matter. One of the few games where evil actually wins. They don't do games like that anymore not even Blizzard.
It’s because people like feel-good endings, not endings that are amazing, but bleak as all hell.
At least WH40k still exists :)
@@AlphaLegionXX 40k sucks and you know it.
Watching this cinematic kind of gives you an idea of what went wrong with Starcraft 2's story direction.
The devs' decision to "raise the stakes" in SC2 was a mistake.
In SC1, the story is epic because each character has their own agenda, which inevitably put them into a collision course with one another. Each one has their own flair, such as Mengsk and Kerrigan being the Machiavellian figures of their respective species, Raynor being the small-town cop whose ideals aren't suited for war, Zeratul being the world-weary brooding knight, Fenix being the indomitable proud warrior. And there were catastrophic consequences for character flaws, which really makes you feel the weight of each decision. Mengsk's vindictiveness created Infested Kerrigan and strengthened the Zerg. DuGalle committed suicide after seeing how his pride led him to condemning his best friend and his men to death.
In SC2, the story is epic because the devs tell you it is (the representatives of all 3 races have to band together to fight an ancient evil!). Each faction is represented by an with an and some sort of . Characters only come into contact with each other because they need to figure out a cosmic puzzle together, with Kerrigan being the MacGuffin at the center of it. There are no consequences for character flaws. After beating Xel'Naga Hitler, the heroes part ways, and all's good in the hood. Few, if any, newly-introduced characters on the player's side die. Tychus only died because he had been a Mengsk spy all along. The whole story is a 3-part feature from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Agreed.
The writing in SC2 reeks of corporate committee thinking. It's very safe, bland, and vanilla.
3:15
Zeratul and Jim trying to recreate the epic handshake meme.
3:37 Nevermind how that constellation looks like Amon, that picture or something similar was in the Heart of the Swarm ending when Kerrigan was talking about going after Amon
3:37
Those stars in the middle... they look like Amon's eyes, huh?
I suppose
Good catch, dude. I would have never spotted it
Its the idea :P
I think it's a coincidence honestly
@@samusaran13372 lmao its on porpuse, dont you get it? Shes feeling amon in the void, then she gets under his control by the start of sc2
They are memorable moments, I am always excited by the videos of the legendary games
1:49 wait what?? dominion and UED marines fighting together side by side?
They did ally in the last Zerg mission.
Everyone finally allied against Kerrigan in the end, but she had already deceived and weakened them all. So they all died.
Unfortunate we heard so little of the United Earth Directorate in the sequel.
They didn’t give themselves a good way to bring them back. Not a single human made it back to earth, so if they bought them back it would just be repeating the exact same story
@@danielearl3591 Not necessarily bring them back as a faction, just more mentions of them. Most of the UED that wasn't destroyed over Char became mercenaries in the Korpulu sector, like Spartan Company
You forget stukov and the infested. Where do you think they come from?
@@frankxu4795 I said little. Not none at all. Stukov was a welcome surprise.
3:43 those eight stars remind me of the eyes of Amon.
Nice catch. Very likely it was intended.
Nah they just weird constellation.
Amon: heh heh heh
Yeah, it's even in the loading image when you start the game
This is rolling a RAVENOUS SWARM in Stellaris...when you have friends playing other empires that you save for last all the while you consume the rest of the AI galaxy where untold 100s of thousands of one's own fleet power are sent to perish...awaiting the FEs to rise & be crushed (Protoss) & Crisis to arrive...
This might be an unpopular opinion, but the Zerg suffered most from the events of Brood War. They lost the Overmind. Twice. All of their Cerebrates had no power to create a new one. Their whole species was enslaved by a Terran they themselves infested. It's hard to describe, but you know what I mean.
The Protoss were decimated, the Dominion is once again under a dictator, the UED fleet was destroyed, and on the top of this hill stood Kerrigan. She was the SOUL winner of the war.
there is no sequel
It's a shame they won't make a Starcraft 3.
Dude the final words just set a perfect cliff for stacraft 2 with the only issue remaining is what the fuck is Duran (I asked myself that question until 2015)
Now we really realise what the meaning of this staring at the void mean, they planned it from the start I guess
A bit like Izual's story which was in Diablo 1 Manual.
It was planned from the start but the new team fucked it up royally.
Pretty much so yeah
wasn't all that extra dialogue at the end only added in remastered and wasn't in the original? Or am i going nuts. I don't recall any of that being in the original.
Come to think, wasn't there a lot of extra dialogue added in between all levels that wasn't in the original?
@@yummyfunnybunny5167 There weren't those artworks back in the original. Just a screen of text.
Kerrigan:I will rule the galaxy!
*Next game*
Mengsk son:I got a keystone!
Kerrigan:fuck
Overmind:should I happy or sad?
Overmind:Just as planned!
i just noticed the stars looks like the eyes of amon.
Music makes this incredible.
Zeratul...
Raynor...
You...SON OF A BITCH!
3:14
"Whatsa matter? Artanis got ya pushin' too many pencils?"
I will still give props to the Vulture who tried to escape
Damn, even after all these years...Kerrigan is still the baddest bitch in the Koprulu sector.
What is that marine shooting at 0:26
@@xLetalis infested terran
i interpret it at him shooting at dark swarm and an IT comes out, it looks foggy enough to be dark swarm
A terrible shot mind you- the infested was RIGHT THERE XD
How sad.......😭
Almost feel like the whole SC2 saga does not fit into the original dark SC1 universe.
SC1 was much darker for sure.
I wish SC2 actually followed the plot line of brood war. SC2 was too comical and many things changed in the story.
I really enjoyed SC1, and I enjoyed SC2 story continuation as well for the most part.
God damn it they had 20 years to fix "Au revior"
3:16
That's so fucking badass.
Remastered version Kerrigan is hella hot!
Yeah I’m gonna I’m in the feeling real life hatred for Kerrigan when I beat this campaign I want to physically go after her one of the few times in my life other than books I’ve read and I really feel that way.
DuGalle can spell as well as he can lead: "thatn", "au revior"...
3:37 did anyone else notice that the stars kinda look like Amon ? Along with the purple fog it looks kinda cool
Amons influence over Kerrigan caused her to commit all those crimes all over the sector.
I'm not sure anymore ;]
That's just lame
Amon did not exist at this point.
@@Guciom it was basically set up since SC1
@@darth856 not really control more as setting her pain and hatred loose.
