That and well meaning parents. I remember when I lived in Ny I used to shop at the old music and electronics store at the Queens Center Mall this guy came in with a Polystation (because it looked exactly like the PS1 but when you open the disc top there is a cartridge slot) looking for Playstation games. Queens Blvd between Macy's (what is now a Target and other shops iirc) used to be a haven for guys selling stuff like that. Poor guy (He was Mexican I believe so his English probably good enough to understand what he was buying) probably spent more money on that thing than what he would have on a real PS-1.

So yeah, as I kid, I asked my mom for a Nintendo 64
she came back home with a knockoff console I can't even remember the name
Apparently, when she was at the store, she asked for a Nintendo 64 but they were all out, and the guy at the store suggested that she bought the knockoff console instead, he told her that while the 64 only had one game with it and she had to buy more later, the knockoff had 1000 games in it and it was way cheaper.
Well, turns out, we couldn't return it to the store, dad called mom a retarded bitch and they divorced.
And now to this day I fucking hate any kind of knockoff company,
Shit, man. That's rough. Yet you sound like you could use this in some revenge plot against the bootleg industry..... I think I'll write something about that.

For people who really cannot afford a Xbox, PS, Nintendo. Having this from your parents is different.
When i was young we cannot afford to buy a Playstation. In young age we already aware of that. And one day when mama came home with a polystation, it was different, the joy and happiness. We guys its about appreciation. I remember how fun it was to play the baseball games, duck hunt, mario, charlie, spy vs spy (2 players), etc.
Having this cheap knockoff is something i never regret so thanks mom for everything.

PolyStation and the other, older ones are out for a long time. In a 1999/2000 gaming magazine there were undercover detectives buying the PolyStation and others at a second hand shop in Hamburg, Germany to find plagiatism for the copyright holders. Back then I laughed about the cartridge slots in the would-be CD drives.
I know for a fact the Vii exists, my sister-in-law has one that her mom gave her. Her mom likes to buy knock-off items.

ahh Polystation~...I remembered when I had a final exam during middle school and ask my parent for PS1 if I get a good grades but instead they got me the Polystation...I throw a tantrum so hard back then because my parent can't differentiate the PS1 and the Polystation...then again can't really blame them back then internet wasn't a thing so we lack of info and apparently my parent got scammed I found out that my parent were trying to find the cheapest PS1 and the scammer was selling Polystation instead making my parents believe it was the same thing...still I take what I can get...it wasn't the best thing but I enjoyed Polystation as a kid

I had a Polystation as a kid, it was actually a good deal because it played NES/Famicom games. By ''a million games'', they mean a million permutations of the same few dozen games. There'd be at least one for each stage of each game, and I think there were also some with cheat codes enabled or weird stuff happening. I remember one TMNT3 ''game'' where Shredder had infinite health for some reason.
i never had any of those but if someone was going to gift me any of those for my birthday or christmas i was just going to say: "FUCK OFF!!"
I wouldn't mind something like this so long as the person didn't pay much lol.
I used fake white PS one silm with blue buttons that plays Famicom Games when I was kid. It uses Dendy mode (50Hz PAL).

I laughed out loud several times watching this, I wish Danger Dolan were more than a reoccurring guest voice on his own show nowadays.
In all my years gaming I have never heard of these knockoff consoles.
You can usually find them in the more "out of the way" stores. Usually the places consoles thrive and shine at are the large dollar stores. That's where I ran into most of them (though aside from Poly, all the ones I've seen in my lifetime were made for the sole purpose of emulating SNES games. On one side it's not that terrible since it's like emulation but with more nostalgia.)
Long story short you go somewhere shady enough / big enough dollar store you're guaranteed to run into these.

For Christmas, I asked for a mini nes. My grandmother got a knockoff that to be fair looked like an nes but the controller had 2 extra red buttons and it had over 700 bootleg games that for 90% of all the games were just copy and pasted. I eventually got the real thing, but I kept the knockoff for my grandmothers sake.

The sarcasm in this video is TRULY remarkable.
I found one called "Fifa 200" The boxart had kids playing soccer and a floating gun . The box boasted about having a realistic hero game. It looked like a playstation and had a light gun, and a cartridge port that does jack chicken shit. On the box it claimed to have 999 built in games but when you put it on your screen it said it had 999999999 games. The games consisted of Mario (the hero game), Fifa, Olympic games, Hurdles (which was the first level in olympic games), Long Jump (Which is the second level), Fancy Mario (Which is Mario), and Moon Mario (Which is also Mario). These games repeated with a three digit code at the end over and over and over.
Ahh the Chintendo, can't wait till they release Super Blario Brothers 3, and The Ledger of Zeldna: A Wink to the blast, and if you really get lucky you may find a copy of Marsbound.
Oh boy I can't wait for the poly station 4 XD
