    When connecting the mic to the transmitter it is best to rotate the transmitter NOT THE MIC. This will reduce the possibility of work-hardening the copper strands in the mic cable that will inevitably lead to an internal break in the wire and a subsequent microphone failure.

      @@GabrielVIP So I'm running a very simple system: my iPhone and my Rode Wireless Pro to record brewery tours. Do you have any videos on how to increase the recording volume when only using an iPhone? I appreciate everything you shared if using a camera, but some of that doesn't necessarily apply with the iPhone set up... Thanks for all you've shared though... I already have learned a lot that simply wasn't explained in any of the online manuals!

      Hey bro. Thank you for your comment. Zoom F3 is another kind of tool. If you want to record an XLR mic, that recorder is the best. If you need a wireless system, this is great. It really depends about your needs. I am passionate about sound recording and I try all kind of recorders and most of the time you don’t need something expensive. If you record for RUclips, social media etc, you are ok with Wireless PRO in 90% of the situations. Thank you for your feedback :)

    To make sure I know which files are from which transmitter, I’ll do the export feature to two different folders. My TX1 would go to the folder named “left” and my TX2 would go to the folder named “right.” This is probably the best workaround I can do. But for all you pros out there - what do you recommend? Rode needs to make a 32-bit field recorder similar to and better than the Tascam Portacapture X8. That would be truly AWESOME!

    Thanks for this video Gabriel, well done! I was a victim of the locking collar issue you mentioned. I have other lav mics with a locking collar and they cannot be removed. I had expected the same behavior from the Rode mics. I had no idea that the collar is actually threaded on to the Rode connector and can be removed. As a result the first time I used the lav mic on one of my transmitters the connector did not seat properly. Because my receiver was set to MERGE the transmitters, I quickly looked and saw audio on both left and right channels and did not pay close enough attention to the fact that one of the transmitters was not actually sending audio. As a result I had NO AUDIO at all from one of the transmitters. This collar design is unusual. This not a mistake I will make again. You have some great tips in here, thanks again for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us! By the way I also agree with you request to be able to add a prefix to the file name. I don't like that both transmitters have the same exact file names.

    • @GabrielVIP

      Hey. Thank you my friend. In audio we can do so many mistakes… and bad things can happen even if you have experience. Lovely video, thank you Gabriel... so helpful. I bought the wireless go pro for recording a handpan drum in nature... so I want to collect the overall sound and the deep resonance of the instrument too. Do you think the lav mic, or the units on their own, will give the better ambient recording onto an iPhone?

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey! Glad you like it :) I really don't have experience with handpan drum recordings but if you can position the unit directly with the wind protection close to the drum, I think you will have a good sound. You need to do some tests and see is the transmitter will be better. If you record outside, 100% you need the wind protection.

  • @sibertiger17
    @sibertiger17 6 месяцев назад +1

    I don't have the wireless pro but I always enjoy your tutorials anyway!
    Here's a question: I have the DJI Mic system, is this worth the change to it if I sell the DJI? I don't use them a ton but they're handy when I do need a wireless mic.
    Also, second question: when wearing the transmitter on my collar or shirt, every time I move or turn, you can hear the rustling of the shirt etc...its very annoying as it ruins the audio and takes lots of editing time to remove all those sounds...it makes using these a pain. What do you suggest for that?

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  6 месяцев назад

      Hey bro. Thank you for your comment.
      If you need 32 bit float yes! If you don’t need that, it’s too much effort to sel and buy another one. The difference in quality is there but not that big. Also, change if you use often the lav mic because this has that locking system. DJI doesn’t have that.
      For the second question…try to use shirts not T-shorts. Lav mics will stay better in a shirt but if you move too much, those annoying sound will still be there.
      Thank you :)

      Hey bro! Thank you! Glad you like it :) For an XLR mic I don’t recommend this. You cand use some adaptors BUT! If you have a condenser mic that requires 48v Phantom power, you can’t use it. And I didn’t tested a dynamic mic. Maybe I will try to connect one to se but I don’t think is made for this. For a professional mic I recommend Zoom F3. Is perfect.

    Great teaching on better sound recording. Thanks a lot. I also wish that RODE update the Pro firmware where all recorded data be automatically grouped inside a folder according to their dates and time of recording in order to have a better organization of audio data just as in Zoom audio recorders.
    Secondly, inbuild battery will surely die with time, so what is the way forward say, in 2 or more years ahead?

Can’t figure out if the quality of the sound would be better just throwing one of these little wireless transmitters on the stage floor or putting the videomic + shotgun on the dlsr…or 3rd option which is using both by connecting the shotgun to wireless pro near theater speakers. 1. It's impossible for me to say if you will get interferences in a room full of people. You need to test it. Most of the time, if the distance between the transmitter and receiver is not big, it should be ok, but I can't be sure. The best thing to do is to test it.
      2. You can plug you 3.5mm jack directly in to the sound amplifier if your sound amplifier has a 3.5mm input. You need to check. It really depends on your sound amplifier.

    • @GabrielVIP
      @GabrielVIP  6 месяцев назад

      I saw those videos. It's partially true. I never experienced adio clipping at 1. If you push the limits, yes, maybe, But if you set the levels corect, is more than ok. I think... many creators don't understand how to set the levels OK and try to push the volume too much. I never had clipping at 1 but if you want to be 100% sure that that limiter is higher, yeh, you can use it at 3. Is safer.

      In my opinion you should set that mic to be sure that you wont overdrive it. If the rode has enough power to deliver a healthy gain with the mic set at 10%, keep it at 10% or try to keep booth in the middle. Nothing should be at max level. This is how I like to set them up.
