Wish they would have added stereo recording on each transmitter 😢 Now that you can just use each transmitter as a standalone recorder, why not just give it a stereo recording option via mic jack to make it the ultimate ultra portable 32 bit float recorder 🤤
I was JUST ABOUT to pull the trigger on the DJI mic kit for my first lav set as I start my first YT channel ... and then I saw this. Honestly, I've never worked with timecodes and I have no idea how much 32-bit float will actually improve the sound quality, but this has high quality, more features, and a better price if you consider than DJI does not include separate attachable lav mics, which I was going to have to buy, so that pushes the DJI price up from $330 to over $400. If anyone knows of a BETTER lav mic kit for a beginning RUclipsr let me know. This looks like the one to me. I've worked as a voice over with my own home recording booth, so I'm familiar with audio editing and not afraid of working with the extra features in this Rode system.
Being able to access the recordings without having to use the app is HUGE for me. I can't get the app to work and actually transfer recordings on 4 out of 5 systems here in our office.
So the receiver is also a very small 2channel audio interface via USB C to your laptop, provided you connect a stereo 3.5 jack IN… am I hearing you correctly?
Rode said this mic turns on and off automatically with camera is that the case? I agree with the big logo and glossy front. I don’t know why we have to advertise rode logo when we pay to them
I know haha no sound test but for good reason. He mentioned It a little bit. He said he did wish they upgraded the actual onboard mics for these especially being the "pro" version but was disappointed they are the same from previous versions. You don't get higher audio quality with the bit rate of the file. 32 bit just has more information, so in post, you can bring up quiet sources without bringing up a high noise floor. And on the opposite end, if the source audio is too hit and distorted. It's like dynamic range on a camera or even the data speed which it records at. More information, more flexibility in post.
@@andreasdk and it’s not that I disagree that audio quality ids important but the features are what is most different so spending time comparing just wasn’t his point this time. And honestly, nobody is gonna watch just one review on these anyway lol
@@beccamitchell05 Well, I wasn’t planning to dig deeply into these since I’m a big fan of my DJI mics. It just reminds me about how I also watch a ton of reviews about smartphones and only about 1% cares about actual sound quality in the calls (which a mobile is still being used for a few times a year ;)). This however is without doubt the main function. If these sounds greater than my DJI mics I might be interested. The rest is specs.
Also, why do I get the feeling Caleb already knows something is coming from Rode. The Wireless Code box idea he mention even had a supposed price of $79.....suspicious. Caleb are you aware of the next release and "predicting" it in front of us?
Look at how far the industry has come. I remember purchasing the original Rode Wireless Film-Maker Kit for $399 back in like 2015. We now have two transmitters, 32 bit float internal recorder, and a much smaller unit. Well done to Rode.
Well... Filmmaker's Kit is still the KING 👑 in an out of line of sight situation. This is something that has not been improved in almost the last decade. Is this something, or what ? Nevertheless, Wireless PRO is an astonishing piece of technology. Congratulations to RODE for making it happen in an affordable pricing. They deserve all the credit.
He mentioned It a little bit. He said he did wish they upgraded the actual onboard mics for these bur was dissapointed they are the same from previous versions. I hope I can turn off that new record-on record-off button. It’s gonna get tapped by mistake at some point. You’re right about the finish, when wearing it on a t-shirt I don’t really want it shining and taking attention (plus that new big record light).
The new record button on the transmitters can only be changed to start/stop recording (when unit is set to manual) or start a new clip (when set to auto record). It is WAAAY to easy to press. A firmware update really needs to address the lack of option to lock the button (or at very least require more than just a tap to activate)
Another improvement idea, though it likely would add cost: A small 'pelican-like' charging case with splash proof connectors and latches instead of the zippered fabric unit.
HUGE CON in the US: You can NOT transmit AND record 32 bit at the same time. You can ONLY choose one at a time. This is a deal breaker. I want the easy workflow of transmitting good sound AND to have a 32 bit backup - just in case it’s needed due to drop outs or clipping. Ugh. Soooo close to perfect - yet such a huge gaping missing feature.
I use black washi tape on my Wireless Go II for that shiny surface as well. Way less noticeable if you’re wearing it with their magnet kit. It’s not ideal, but if you plan on keeping it fully covered at all times, you could try to use a really light sandpaper to create some texture for the gaff tape to better grab onto it. Might not slip off as easily. But I’m with you, a matte texture on those would have been nice on the “Pro” model.
@DSLR Video Shooter, I’ll be honest I’m very disappointed about your coverage around the timecode feature of this product which is almost entirely borked and not one of the modes being a proper isolated output alongside a separate LTC signal. Even if we don’t count the terrible lack of jam-in, you ignored that they failed to consider proper TC on set workflows. You can’t just jam cameras a couple times a day and not expect the cameras to drift more than a frame out in less than an hour! That twice a day/every four hours jam schedule only works with proper crystal oscillator timecode boxes on each camera/sound device. Technically we have up to four audio channel outputs right now but not one gives the one mode all pros will need and it would have been told to a Rode developer on day one of any consultation with a pro who uses TC regularly. It’s sad because these could have been so great but are sadly massively let down by this failure. Looks like it will be the much larger Deity Theos for me because this TC issue is a showstopper if the selling point was TC.
When Rode releases a product different features are in different stages of development. You can almost bet the next generation will have a master TC clock device linked to multiple receivers sending a clock to their respective cameras. Right now you can two internal recorders and a receiver to one camera with matching time code. The jam syncing to other cameras was a bit of an after-throught (still under development).
@@seecraig then timecode is not a feature, the current Wireless GoII has an internal timecode too, but since it runs independently from the camera it’s only an approximation. This is sadly the same with the new Pro units since there is currently no way to feed independent audio levels and timecode into the camera even for a single camera. Let’s also be clear, every other major company releasing a timecode product has effectively managed to get the key aspects of how a timecode workflow works right on the first try. Rode has not here and we shouldn’t be giving them a pass or expect anything short of addressing this and fixing it. If you don’t need timecode in your work that’s fine, but for those of us who do, this half baked feature as released is a joke. If they gave us a clear development roadmap that would be one thing, but they aren’t even acknowledging that it’s incomplete and borked for actual use.
Ideally, the time code on the Transmitters' internal recordings should match the camera recording from the Receiver. Granted there can still be drift but that gets you closer than a free running time stamp since the Transmitters and Receiver/camera start time stamps can differ widely. For this use, it's an improvement. Companies rarely talk about upgrades or roadmaps far in advance because those roadmaps can change.
@@seecraig if they don’t perfectly match then it’s not a timecode setup. This is the point, it needs to be able to be constantly jammed to the camera and also supply the camera with both audio channels as well. I could get the Rode Wireless Go II close, but that’s not timecode. Drift doesn’t happen if everything remains jam synced to a temperature compensated crystal oscillator, or at least all constantly being jammed to a common source. Rode could do this with only a minor firmware change in the Pro but as it stands right now it’s completely borked and cannot be called a real timecode workflow. The point is that if they know this is an issue now and have a roadmap for it being implemented this is fine. Also just because a lot of companies don’t, great ones like Panasonic, and ARRI do. We can ask the same thing of them especially on a such a critical feature.
@@TheTechnoPilot Rode posted about the time code today. I'll just say if what they say is true you're wrong. You're making false assumptions. I don't think you understand jam sync. Your desire for a feature they have not implemented is not a flaw. The time code clock works perfectly as per SMPTE spec.
great review! 👏 Your future accessories ideas are very good, fully agree! I'm actually thinking to make some 3D Printed mods for it, i.e. a bigger case, in which you can plug the transmitters with the Lavs attached + all other accessories. But this is stretching it too much into Pro gear and might be better just getting Pro gear at that point.
So much tech and sync and timecode and buttons connections and bla bla. What about sound quality samples and 32 bit audio review? Isn't this all about and the most important thing?
The 'every 4 hours' timecode jam will be because the timing crystals in most cameras can vary by a field (half a frame on 25/30 fps cameras) every 30 mins - the Rode devices themselves might be more accurate but this re-jamming will be because of the variance in cameras.
QUESTION - you mention it can charge while using - when doing this with the Rode GO II - there is TERRIBLE interference when you do this either when charging a transmitter or when charging a receiver - another complaint of my Rode Go II's - there batter life sucks - at least on the receiver. Also - there was a HUGE bug with the RODE and the FX3 - when using the Rode Go II or any rode wireless - into the built in mic port of the FX3 - there was a bad grounding issue - this does not happen with DJI wireless mics - does it happen with the PROs?
Totally agree about the shiny finish. I use gaff tape on my v1 Rode Go to cover up the shiny finish. I really don't know why Rode decided to stick with the same form factor, either. Maybe they're working on a real UHF update to their other wireless system. I can't wait for Curtis Judd's review of the lavs. For $399 including lavs, they can't be that great... but we'll see.
that's who I'm waiting on, I rock with Caleb for most things video but audio I really think Curtis is the best on youtube, runner up is Gerald Undone for just overly detailed breakdowns on gear in general
Sorry - one other question - you mention connecting to a phone - in the past this required a VERY SPECIFIC USB cable - only provided from Rode and even then - it was hit or miss - is connecting to an iPhone even doable or reliable? Essentially I shouldnt need it - with the exception of possibly formatting on the go.
Perhaps the shiny finish is meant to force people to use the lav instead of wearing a giant, reflective square on their collars. 😂 Otherwise, looks like a great upgrade. And now a plug for Caleb's LUTs: Buy them. That is all.
I had a lot of peaking issues with the wireless go II using their GO Lav. Even with internal gain (and camera gain) all the way down, anyone with a projected voice was impossible to record without peaking. Have you done any audio tests comparing the units?
What makes these any better than the DJI option? It seems like most of the changes made were to catch up to the DJI variant. But for me personally I see the DJIs as the better option still (I don't use time code at work so that's not necessary for me) because they have both an output for camera and headphones on the receiver, as well as pins to charge off of in the case rather than using the USB port. The touch screen for me is way easier to use than navigating with buttons plus all settings can be changed on the receiver itself. Finally the mag is built into the clip on the DJIs so no need to add an extra attachment on to use the magnet. Sorry for the long post. This isn't supposed to be a rant but I'm just curious why anyone might choose these over the the competition.
I have the DJI and I love it.....But I have to admit this Rode system has a "Loud" limiter. NO peaking no matter how loud you shout....To me that's the only thing they have on the DJI...but im not trading in my DJI tho...Its smaller and look so much more professional......
@@JadeesVlog oh that would have been useful for me today. We shot in a plane and no one had a way to get the audio off coms so I clipped the DJI mics on the headset mics. It worked but my god will the audio be clapped out 😂.
The feature i'm wishing to see is to be able to sync more devices to it. Like 5 lavaliers with their transmiters, a boom with transmiter, and a single receiver.
yeah but is it any more reliable than other Rode products? Cause i've owned 4 dif Rode mic products and have had trouble with most of them. 3 out of 4 failed within less than 2 years of use. 2 were sorta unreliable even while they still technically worked. Complete trash if it doesn't last as an investment, or isn't reliable on set. Personally, i'll never buy another RODE product ever again......
I could never make the rode wireless go 2 sound good. Sarah Dietschy has the same complaint. What are your thoughts about the sound quality of the pros vs the DJI wireless mics? I’m quite disappointed that my wireless go 2s always have a hissing sound when I record with them.
Somehow I hated Rode for being expensive and not precisely the best audio, but this time I have to say I'm impressed. This looks amazing, but that's thanks to DJI Mic, it made them improve a lot just because the old version was worse in every way. Hopefully this device makes DJI release a powerful system for the DJI Mic 2
It's not just the sound quality that matters here. It's the practicality and peace of mind of having 32-bit float audio recorded in the transmitters and a backup track on your camera at the same time. This kit is a no-brainer.
Is there a way to just buy one transmitter? having a Rode Wireless PRO would be great but I can't afford the pack and don't' need it. I would be just happy to have one transmitter and a lav and then upload the audio file to my computer later.
A deal breaker for me is... The pro will not accept timecode from anything else. This would close the doors on versatility for these mics it would seem.
Receiver is lacking headphone port. Funny that Rode includes timecode connection for the camera but there is no way to monitor the audio during use of the timecode, camera operator will just have to wait for the playback, since timecode is already a lot of convenience better not include too much.
Hopefully they fixed the high pitch noise that is nearly impossible to get rid of from the first Wireless GO units. I paid a few hundred back then and they were incredibly disappointing with no offer from Rode on replacements when I contacted their support. It was a common problem that was well documented. I'm looking to upgrade my gear again soon but hesitant to send them another few hundred after my first bad experience.
I would really like to see some more transmitters in the Rode Wireless Pro series, like a handheld mic with cardioid capsule and a XLR plugin transmitter with P48 power.
Okay, a silly question, as I know nothing about sound. Does this sound you are recording on these devices go directly to the picture being recorded in real-time? Because I hate syncing sound up on my timeline. Also, I'd like you to show me how these mics can be hidden on actors. Are these mics and set up good for drama shoots?
Yes if it’s connected to camera it will. However sometimes there will electronic voice. Most of the time I use the audio from internal recording. Software will sync for you.
It's funny how quickly the technology is advancing. It's almost as if you have to spend $400 every 8 months or so to get important new features while Rode and DJI leapfrog each other. Given the user demand you can almost bet that the next iteration will have a master time code generator so each receiver can generate TC for each camera individually.
I just don’t trust rode with these. The wireless go ii had so many frustrating issues with it that no one talked about enough (that app workflow is dreadful, no real gain granularity so audio is either going to peak or way too quiet, the garish logo on everything), that I went with tentacle sync track e instead and have not had a single problem. 32bit float on the receivers may have fixed my major gripes, but I’ve been burned by them too much.
DJI will definitely come up with 32bit audio soon in their mics! I switched from Rode go II to the DJI mic and I love them so much more, they are also much smaller. Can't wait for their upgrade!
@@nodaysoff2005 That's what I wonder with it too. With paying even half attention to what's going on, and the backup track on my DJI Mics, I've never felt like I needed float
I have the DJI system which I love. But for anyone new to the market, this Rode system is definitely better. Caleb, what camera re you using for the top down shots?
I have the Rode Wireless GO 1 and GO 2 and based on your review, the PRO version is way better. Timecode means NO MORE WAV AUTO ALIGNS and all things being equal, the GO 2 was barely an upgrade over the GO 1 for DSLR shooters. Still waiting for Apple to go to USB C as Rode makes you buy a special USB to lightening cable that you had to use for your iphone.
This is a great update for Rode. Definitley a fantastic device however i think they are running into hardware limitations and are trying squeeze out as much as possible into an old design that they dont want to invest into R&D for a totally brand new device. Honestly i think the 32 bit float and timecode are novel updates but im concerned how they will fare against competitors. I used to own these Rode wireless mics and was completely surprised how while they worked, were lacking in futures, accessories and cheaply made the actual product was. If im going to be real, as a now DJI mic owner. When, not If, DJI makes their version 2 wireless mics with 32 bit, locking lav mics, and timecode with the amazing hardware it has... Its a no brainer. I think Rode has got to completely start over if they want to compete in the "pro" space.
very detailed and clear explanation. thanks. but, correct me if i'm wrong, you did not give a sample of its audio quality. i guess that's for another review? looking forward to that. 😊
Bro, the way you screw this jack in just thrills me. EVERY connector with a locking screw is meant to be connected by rotating ONLY the screw, not whole plug. When you rotate whole thing, you destroy gold plated connectors very fast, they just wear out. For some more delicate connectors like SMA, doing this 10 times would probably end the plug life. Jack is maybe more "fool-proof", but it is not meant to be rotated. I love and respect you and your work Caleb, but looks like you can learn something today from me
@@ThePkitela It means some stupid guy designed this. Real engeneer like me would not make such bullshit ever. I am engeneer of telecomunications and electronics
@@pawebaran3601It is unfortunately a by-design behavior. If you don’t rotate the whole connector, the screw will not be able to hold the connector with the socket.
@pawebaran3601 Normally you’d be right. But those of us with this unit know that you have to screw it this way or else it unscrews from the lav mic. Bad design, not his bad!
I'm so glad you brought up the glossy finish. That was the first criticism I had when I first saw these and I hate that Rode decided against a complete matt casing. But they sound promising otherwise. Thanks for the great review!
Hi mate. Great video. Quick question - do you know if you can link two receivers to the transmitters? So that you could get audio or timecode into multiple cameras at the same time????
It is very hard to believe that you can unplug the receiver after jam syncing timecode to different cameras. Even plugged all the time plugged a Deity TC1 have drift ! Please Caleb, measure the drift ! 👍
They really listened and added som fantastic features. Based on a glance at it’s specs I believe and hop that they support pro lavalier mics that require minimum 5v
Not sure if it's possible or not, but is there some kind of spray that can create a thin layer to block all the glossy and annoying logos? This way, we could tape our label to the surface. or waiting for someone to come up with better ideas to make the audio device more discreet, and ideally, to darken it completely as everyone dreams of. Now that Rode has entered the 32-bit race, it's likely that within a few months or weeks, many Chinese audio manufacturers will also release their own 32-bit wireless audio recording versions. As someone who occasionally films multicam, I sincerely hope that either Rode or these Chinese audio brands can offer budget-friendly timecode device options. While there is currently the Deity TC-1 available, it doesn't quite match the versatility of the legendary Tentacle Sync models. As far as I know, Comica, a Chinese brand, has started incorporating a built-in wireless feature that automatically transmits audio to a wireless receiver. Just imagine if Rode or other accessories manufacturers could create a simple add-on to connect the transmitter (which can now record internally and includes timecode). This would greatly streamline our setup, as fewer cables could significantly save more time. Of course, I understand that cables are still the best option in terms of interference and reliability, but for smaller projects requiring quick turnaround, wireless is a good choice. And let's not forget that the internal 32-bit recording acts as an extra insurance now.
If I already have the wireless 2 but don’t want to upgrade to the pro. Can I just buy the charging case as an accessory. Also is there a way to timecode my wireless go ii to my cameras audio so I don’t have search and match audio files to my videos
I’ve had so many problems with the Go Wireless 2 that I’ve lost faith in what Rode do, audio is brilliant but when it goes wrong there’s noting to fix it
Thanks for the review. Regarding range test. I’ve been using the Go2’s since release. The range is good, BUT at a wedding…a problem arises. Pre-ceremony testing vs. during ceremony, I experience unreliability. My best guess…an abundance of mobile phones, all competing for space on the 2.4ghz bandwidth, causing interference. Have you had this issue? Do you know of any testing that might confirm my theory? Since the Pro’s also operate on 2.4ghz, will they have the same issue? My Sennheiser G4’s don’t suffer this, as they’re UHF. But I just can’t give up the functionality of the Rode Go’s, and often just rely on the on-board recording in post. Also, do you know if we could transmit/record split channels, while sending TC via USB to the Sony FX3?
I want to learn more about how to use time code with multiple cameras. My FX3 has a time code but I dont know how to sync with other cameras and this audio.
I was going to ask the same thing, it looks incredible. You basically built a box around a DSLR. You added a link to a rig but it's not this. Hoping for a new video with this design.
There are still some issues - the case should be able to fit all accesories - the magnet mount should be built in and should fit when charging - the interface while better - is still wonky and when you are on set - unless you studied - you are not going to remember those configurations to get into certain menu items. All of the rest of the upgrades will surely come from all the competitors - who usually think of these little small things like magnets and what not - I think Im gonna wait until DJI or Hollyland releases their PRO version. it will most likely be better and probably a little cheaper.
I've seen a couple videos, since Rode released their video, that complained about the timecode, comparing it to the Deity TC-1 and one even demonstrated drift happening well within four hours. Evidently, when jamming TC, the cameras (sony, bmd and canon) demonstrated drift well within four hours (ten minutes) and that with the TC-1 plugged in to each camera, the drift was significantly less. I see this issue more as a problem with the cameras maintaining time than the Rode's jamsync. Which leads me to the question I have with the PRO - can you use one PRO as a master TC and jam other PRO receivers mounted to multiple cameras? This would be an excellent feature and render those other issues moot.
@@uldmedia until the next generation where Rode develops a time code master device and receivers that can wirelessly lock to it while each is hooked up to a separate camera. If the demand is there, they will do it although DJI will as well they way they're leapfrogging each other.
@dslr video shooter . Just as a food for thought. You said: "since they recommended to sync every four hours I imagine there's some kind of drift". That's a valid point 100% but we never think of in relation to what that drift occurs. Maybe that BM cam's internal clock (on which it relies on after sync) is speedy, maybe that Alexa's internal clock is lagging behind? Maybe the most bullet proof, most accurate clock ever on a device would have to be recommended be to re-synced ever so often. Not because of that device providing the sync is imprecise, but because the receiving end is.
all this talk about 32bit audio doesn't make sense! 16bit with about 65.000 steps in dynamic is inferior to 24bit with 16mio steps and this make sense for drums or an acoustic instrument in a room, so you can hear the depth of the recordings. But you will never hear the resolution of 32bit with 136mio steps! Espacially for close vocals recording!(you don't even want the room) Even with a chain of a 9000$ Mic, a 6000$ preamp and a 3000$ ADC yout still couldn't judge this on 20000$ Speakers. (Honestly, most people and listening situations couldn't even differentiate between 16 and 24 bit)
@@TheSpiv but no preamp or ADC have a1528 dB signal to noise ratio, to help here and record at -100dBFS. This tiny one has just 72 dB, cant magically fix analog input parts in the digital space.
I soft-rant about this on my channel. Kids these days believe they live in a 100% digital world and have no understanding of the real analog reality we must all live in ;)
The front face of the receiver should be a full-sized menu, plainly visible, instead of a big logo with a teeny-weeny itsy-bitsy menu box at the bottom. There is such a thing as being too stingy and replacing a full-sized menu with a logo is beyond too stingy.
I cant wait to get a set. I was getting ready to by the Zoom F1 with 32bit float, but this looks more in line with what I want. Cant wait to get my hands on it.
This is Rode's response to DJI's offering. I'd be very interested in a Rode vs DJI shoot-out. Do you know if the case can be charged while it is providing top-up charge to the devices? I was a little surprised at the price. Was expecting these to be considerably more expensive. Great overview - thank you
As always great first impressions/review video! But I do have a question: can the receiver change the gain of the transmitters individually? Like, if I want to have one at -12 and the other at -6? And I understand that with 32 bit float probably negates this need but still.. less editing is less editing.
This is the wireless system I’ve been waiting for. Locking 3.5mm jack is an underrated upgrade.
I’ll wait for the DJI mics new mic.

So the receiver is also a very small 2channel audio interface via USB C to your laptop, provided you connect a stereo 3.5 jack IN… am I hearing you correctly?
I would be interested in seeing the kits or builds you make with different mics.
Rode should make an affordable digital movie clapper that connects wirelessley to these.
399 is a great price. Going to pick a kit up.
How many years will this battery last?

You don't get higher audio quality with the bit rate of the file. 32 bit just has more information, so in post, you can bring up quiet sources without bringing up a high noise floor. And on the opposite end, if the source audio is too hit and distorted. It's like dynamic range on a camera or even the data speed which it records at. More information, more flexibility in post.
I hope I can turn off that new record-on record-off button. It’s gonna get tapped by mistake at some point. You’re right about the finish, when wearing it on a t-shirt I don’t really want it shining and taking attention (plus that new big record light).
You had that option previously. Yes, it is able to be changed in the app.
The new record button on the transmitters can only be changed to start/stop recording (when unit is set to manual) or start a new clip (when set to auto record). It is WAAAY to easy to press. A firmware update really needs to address the lack of option to lock the button (or at very least require more than just a tap to activate)
Another improvement idea, though it likely would add cost: A small 'pelican-like' charging case with splash proof connectors and latches instead of the zippered fabric unit.
have they fixed the groundloop issue, ie having the receiver plugged in while using
HUGE CON in the US: You can NOT transmit AND record 32 bit at the same time. You can ONLY choose one at a time. This is a deal breaker. I want the easy workflow of transmitting good sound AND to have a 32 bit backup - just in case it’s needed due to drop outs or clipping. Ugh. Soooo close to perfect - yet such a huge gaping missing feature.
That’s awful, although I’m guessing it’s due to a patent and out of Rode’s hands
Your future accessories ideas are very good, fully agree!
Isn't this all about and the most important thing?
noticed that myself with all these reviews, no talk on the actual audio recordings and lav quality
The 'every 4 hours' timecode jam will be because the timing crystals in most cameras can vary by a field (half a frame on 25/30 fps cameras) every 30 mins - the Rode devices themselves might be more accurate but this re-jamming will be because of the variance in cameras.
Definitely very interested in a comparison between this and the Diety Theos.
Me too, I have both on preorder and am curious which one to cancel
Furry wind muff. That was my nickname in High School!
Should have demoed the audio coming from them.
Why do create a system that records 6 channel so up to 6 transmitter could connect. Still only 2 is not pro
I believe the audio quality is the same as the GO which isn't fantastic but good enough for weddings or youtube videos.
Absurd they can’t just make it solid black SMH
@@DailyCitizenOfficial Yep. It's production gear. They should know better.
Not only that but if you're filming outdoors in full sun it be difficult to see the settings on the receiver.@@JasonFoxLCB
I had a lot of peaking issues with the wireless go II using their GO Lav. Even with internal gain (and camera gain) all the way down, anyone with a projected voice was impossible to record without peaking. Have you done any audio tests comparing the units?
32 bit gets rid of this issue
@@w123luke I use them too, to avoid I just use the secondary audio track as a backup with a volume of -6 dB
Oh man. Just bought the DJI mic 4 days ago... Lets see
The feature i'm wishing to see is to be able to sync more devices to it.
Fact
Yes I kept wondering when Rode would finally catch-up.
DJI is amazing. I love
I really like my DJI Mics. Super easy
Future Microphone Review Video Idea: Test the Audio Quality ;-)
A deal breaker for me is... The pro will not accept timecode from anything else. This would close the doors on versatility for these mics it would seem.
I just ordered mine as there are several upgrades over my Rode Wireless Go II
Yo Youthman! Seen a lot of you stuff as I just finished my home theater custom build ha! Keep up the great work.
I was waiting for a sound test of the internal 32bit vs the 16bit via the receiver into the video file clip
Can. you tell me more about how you attached it to your Sony headphones? What clip do you have on your headphones that it'll attach to?
Okay, a silly question, as I know nothing about sound. Does this sound you are recording on these devices go directly to the picture being recorded in real-time? Because I hate syncing sound up on my timeline. Also, I'd like you to show me how these mics can be hidden on actors. Are these mics and set up good for drama shoots?
Yes if it’s connected to camera it will. However sometimes there will electronic voice. Most of the time I use the audio from internal recording. Software will sync for you.
This set is a steal. Really looking forward to using it in the field soon.
I just realized the whole video didn't have any music and it felt so good and calm, made me focus on the product! love it!
So this is basically the DJI Mic with a few tiny improvements?
I just don’t trust rode with these. The wireless go ii had so many frustrating issues with it that no one talked about enough (that app workflow is dreadful, no real gain granularity so audio is either going to peak or way too quiet, the garish logo on everything), that I went with tentacle sync track e instead and have not had a single problem. 32bit float on the receivers may have fixed my major gripes, but I’ve been burned by them too much.
Finally Rode learning from the competition... but since I have DJIMic it's comming to late....
DJI will definitely come up with 32bit audio soon in their mics! I switched from Rode go II to the DJI mic and I love them so much more, they are also much smaller. Can't wait for their upgrade!
DJI is still better. That 32 bit is nice, but the average person won't notice the difference
@@nodaysoff2005 rode's lavalier mics are huge difference.
Still waiting for Apple to go to USB C as Rode makes you buy a special USB to lightening cable that you had to use for your iphone.
how sensitive are the lavs that come with it? The ones that go with the Go 2 peak way to quickly.
I love and respect you and your work Caleb, but looks like you can learn something today from me
Unfortunately not with this connector. This screw part is not rotatable. You need to turn whole jack. 🤦♂️
I know because I have one. 🤷♂️
@@ThePkitela It means some stupid guy designed this. Real engeneer like me would not make such bullshit ever. I am engeneer of telecomunications and electronics
@@pawebaran3601 You Are right. This is unacceptable. It's also hurts my eyes. ;)
So that you could get audio or timecode into multiple cameras at the same time????
having never worked with time codes before, I would love to see an in depth explanation/tutorial on how it works in real life once this is released!
It is very hard to believe that you can unplug the receiver after jam syncing timecode to different cameras. Even plugged all the time plugged a Deity TC1 have drift !
Please Caleb, measure the drift ! 👍
There will be drift, that's why they recommend reconnecting every 4h
They really listened and added som fantastic features. Based on a glance at it’s specs I believe and hop that they support pro lavalier mics that require minimum 5v
Looks like they listened to customer feedback which is commendable.
These look awesome! I can't wait to see DJIs response to this. I have the DJI Mic now, and am very happy with them. I like DJIs touchscreen.
I found that I can grab recordings from Go 2 in my windows folder, but I can't delete any files. Only delete them in the Rode App.
If they offered trade up so I could get 1/2 price by mailing in my wirless go 2 then id upgrade ....else pointless
If I already have the wireless 2 but don’t want to upgrade to the pro. Can I just buy the charging case as an accessory. Also is there a way to timecode my wireless go ii to my cameras audio so I don’t have search and match audio files to my videos
I’ve had so many problems with the Go Wireless 2 that I’ve lost faith in what Rode do, audio is brilliant but when it goes wrong there’s noting to fix it
How does the auto gain handle extraneous noise when the person you are recording is silent, e.g. air conditioning, people far away, traffic noise.
can i put dynamic microphone on it? will bost it or need preamp?
WHAT is that FX3 rig from the intro? I have never seen mounting options like that... you going to do a video on that?
Sounds quality of the lav?
What an interesting camera cage you have in the video. Could you show that in more details please.
I was going to ask the same thing, it looks incredible. You basically built a box around a DSLR. You added a link to a rig but it's not this. Hoping for a new video with this design.
I'm so surprised they went with the glossy branded front.
If Rode will come out with a XLR transmitter that will work with this system, I‘ll would buy this.
I don't like touch screens in tiny devices as it can result in false touches.
Not if you just press the lock/unlock button, it just takes a sec. Speaking of the DJI mics, not sure about others.
Can you turn on the recording in transmitters from the receiver?
Great question. I think your only option is the diety tc1, or the atomos solution
Or tentacles
No, that is not possible. Rode said in their FAQ video that the receiver can only be used as a time code master and not as a slave.
@@uldmedia until the next generation where Rode develops a time code master device and receivers that can wirelessly lock to it while each is hooked up to a separate camera. If the demand is there, they will do it although DJI will as well they way they're leapfrogging each other.
@@uldmedia That's one feature that would level up the PRO.
Not because of that device providing the sync is imprecise, but because the receiving end is.
good video as always but please get rid of the transitions
all this talk about 32bit audio doesn't make sense!
Kids these days believe they live in a 100% digital world and have no understanding of the real analog reality we must all live in ;)
My biggest question is can you lock out a wearer on the device so they dont accidentally turn off the recording?
The front face of the receiver should be a full-sized menu, plainly visible, instead of a big logo with a teeny-weeny itsy-bitsy menu box at the bottom. There is such a thing as being too stingy and replacing a full-sized menu with a logo is beyond too stingy.
