Well played Eric. I thought I knew Brouwer's work well but I'd never heard this. It seems to be a popular piece -- strange how one can miss these things! Anyway, it's quite lovely.
This is really a sweet piece! So well played! Appreciates the soothing feeling and the dynamics. Gets a calm feeling! Very enjoyable! Thanks my friend! //Tobias
Yes, I first heard more than thirty years ago under that title on an album by Parkening. I hadn't heard it for years, though, and when I stumbled across it here on YT, I decided to look up the score and give it a shot.
Nice - I've just watched a couple of player play this - some seem to rush the melody or turn it into a triplet rhythm. I have Diaz's recording imprinted in my memory and this doesn't seem right. It's incredible how you can be irked by something like that. You are spot on in my ears - very beautiful indeed.
@@ericphillips7057 You're very welcome Eric - lovely playing my friend. This piece is etched into my mind so deeply - my father played/plays it too and I Iove the Diaz recording of it. He's in his old age now - but this is the sound of my childhood - when it hits the low Eb you can feel you're head swimming its so gorgeous. I was looking for some new music to buy him for Christmas - and got lost in searching for some modern stuff that he might be interested in. I've got the sheet here myself - I'm inspired to get myself around it now too after hearing you. Classical guitar players are the best folks. I try to play Jazz myself these days - but the sound of Brouwer et al is what's etched in my head. If you have kids - they'll be the same. All the best.
Bravo Eric, well played!

Thanks, Steven. It's a great piece - very attractive and technically accessible.

Thank you, Tobias!
Bravo Eric, well done 👋👋 That's one of my absolute Brouwer favourites 😊😊
Thank you, Hassan! It's amazing how varied Brouwer's opus is.
Same here - beautiful.
I always wanted to learn this piece too! Really lovely, Eric! Bravo!!
It has a few tricky parts, but I'm sure you could play it. Very satisfying!
Well played, Eric! I've come across this one before under the variant "Afro-Cuban Lullaby" back in 2020. Liked and shared.

Maybe someday, but I'm getting there!
