I've got EL34s in mine....made a big difference. The 6L6s were brighter, maybe a bit more "tin". ELs sounded a little "warmer". I play through a 2x12 triple xxx cab. Also, I use the ultra most of the time with the gain rolled back to take off a lot of the edge. Crunch is boosted for leads - and I add a significant amount of "body" and gain. Works pretty good. The "loose" setting always sounded best to me. Glad you got a good deal and are happy with it...
Bought my first Peavey back in 1984, and still have it {Bandit 65}. Sometime in the 90s I bought a Ultra 60 and still have it also {although it is for sale}. Used it on countless gigs. My Delta Blues 115 is a keeper, it is one of my main amps now that I play mostly at home. But to say Peavey is my favorite amp would be a lie, I prefer Fenders over all others {silverfaces mostly} and a Marshall Vintage Modern.
Hey Jack, don't remember if it was one of your vids I asked this on but are you using an avatar 4x12? I just ordered this head, have a line 6 412 to hold me until I get a new one. Seen a triple x 412 locally for 80 bucks might get it. Do you recommend any good cabs that could be affordable? I hear good things about the avatars and they're good priced
do not cheap out on a cab that is what really makes the tone i would recommend a harly bennton v30 212 i think there 200 new or go with a Marshall 8412 they are really cheap but with good speaker just a smaller cab and that is no a bad thing when it comes to 412

I'm on heavy metal amps (group) on FB a lot of people recommend the XXX cabs for it, I guess it has v30 clones. I just seen one locally actually for 80! If it's electronically sound, I might snatch that up! I'll check out some of the stuff you're recommending though, I'm always open :P thanks Jack

Sick, but the triple x is a 120w head or at least the one i have is.
