    I read the Positive Impact Golf book. I had prostate surgery and I couldn't do much but lie around. So I read the book. It wasn't what I expected. I was wondering if it was a waste of money to buy it. I started doing the exercises and watching your videos and slowly it started to come to me. When I could go out again and get on the course, I would hit decent hits. Not all the time but enough to show to me I was on the right track. I would hit bad shots and I would tell myself to relax more. Take the tension out of my hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders. Once I did that, I would hit a fairly good shot. Sometimes they would go straight and far, at least far for me. I have never hit more then 200 yards or so. I hit a tee shot on a par 4 dog leg left which is around 300 yards and hit the green. I was amazed of how far it went. Thing is I had lost the ball in the sun when I hit the tee shot. So I didn't see where it went. I had to have hit it over the trees on left side or a curving left shot. I don't know slice or hook or what it is called. I am 69 and a lefty and I have played golf since I was in junior high school. The short game was the best part of the game. No one showed me how to hit the ball on that part of the game because I was better at it than the guys I played with. I had a natural swing. I was confident to chip on the green and then putting. I used to be able to read the green and sink putts. So my friends would out drive me and hit better on the fairway but I would catch them with my short game. While practicing with what was in your book, I started realizing that was the way I used play with my short game. Now using your tension free way of golf, I am getting back to my basics. I swing the club and feel the weight of it. I have a fuller back swing and hit farther and straighter. I also have started to swing thru with club laying on my front shoulder. First tee still gets to me. I really tense up and have worm rappers. I also use the book when I hit a shot and find good things about the hit. I hit one that doesn't go far and I will tell myself that it was in the fairway. I chip one onto the green and it doesn't get close to the hole, so I tell myself that I had good distance. Hit a good shot, I would tell myself good shot. It makes the game more enjoyable. Get rid of the negatives and focus on positives. I still don't know about gripping the club. I try a neutral grip because it keeps me from hitting looping left shots. I am using a baseball grip now. I learned to use an interlocking grip but would like to change it. What do I do to have a natural grip? Sorry about being long winded but I am excited about this.

      Just keep your hands close together whether it’s overlap, interlock or baseball matters not just pull the base of your left hand as far up the pad of your right thumb as reasonably possible…. For me to comfortably finish I’m about at 10 o’clock but if I clear my right foot extremely to the right, I can face to target but it is very awkward. Any advice is appreciated thank you.

What am I doing wrong exactly ? My wrists are very loose and grip is at a 2/10. Sometimes when I hit a straight shot the ball flight is so high I’m getting hung up and went and getting no roll too. My swing ends up in the same spot in the follow through resting on my shoulder as well. Would love any input or possible advice to that open clubface I’m getting.

      You may want to contact Sean directly and arrange a consultation. However, rather than focus on what you perceive as a fault, focus on what you know is correct. With that focus you will see improvement soon. The great teacher Manuel de la Torre, when asked by a student, "what did I do wrong," would reply, "why do you want to know? Do you want to do it again?"

    • @philipsparks8315
      @philipsparks8315 Год назад +2

      Do you try and keep the clubface square through the ball as it should naturally rotate (& close) by 5° every 50cm (2”) through the impact area, perhaps you are not allowing that to happen? Especially as the ball is going high this is likely to be the best area to check.

    A nice tall and relaxed finished facing the target typically requires balance. Not just balance at the finish but balance from address through the entire swing. Once you have mastered this, your ballstriking will greatly improve. All you have to work out then is direction. Balance is key, and focusing on a balanced, tall, relaxed finish facing the target is a great place to start.

For my understanding could you show at shot of the impact position showing the head location. I still can’t see if ES head position at impact looking at the target is before or simultaneously with impact ,Thxs

      @Easiestswing  Месяц назад

      Good to hear from and meet a like minded coach 👍 Brian used to demonstrate lifting the head before impact just to show how it doesn’t cause bad shots (see his original “easiest swing in golf video). We don’t necessarily advocate looking targetwards before impact but just want golfers to avoid the Deadly Don’t of trying to keep their heads down. So I guess in our book it is not critical when the eyes turn from the ball so long as the movement is free of any restriction. Thanks for your interesting point.

    Hello guys...I was at my local driving range and the club pro was giving a lesson in the next bay to me and I overheard and watched him Talking about Shallowing the club? on the down swing i think...Can you explain what he was talking about? Is it to do with the Plane? and what does that mean also...Hopefully you will be able to decipher what that club pro was on about....So glad i found you guys...🙂

    • @philipsparks8315

      This is a really interesting question and is an issue many club golfers suffer with. Unfortunately many coaches attempt to deal with the result rather than the cause….. It is caused by the trail wrist tensing rather than remaining relaxed as you start the forward swing. The result being that the shaft gets into a more vertical position (and the clubhead ends up on the outside of the swing plane). Whereas “shallowing” happens due to more relaxed wrists especially the trail wrist which allows the weight of the clubhead to fall more behind the player and the shaft angle moves away from the vertical and more towards the horizontal then the clubhead effectively drops further behind the player and under the plane. All in all this creates more lag and more of an inside attack on the ball. So there you have your answer - but it will not help your game if this isn’t YOUR issue and it is a very difficult thing for most club golfers to achieve. Frankly, for most normal players getting rid of the 3 Deadly Don’ts and adopting the six basics will solve this problem as well as many others. My advice? Keep it simple stick with Easiest Swing!!

      1 set the ball back in the stance (a little) making sure the clubface sims at the target not to the right.
      2. Ensure your core moves further ahead of the ball than normal at impact.

    Noonev can argue about importance of achieving this finish, it’s how you get there in one coordinated, rhythmic movement. I find it difficult and often easier to achieve if the arms in control, unfortunately ‘tail wagging the dog’. Personally I think it can only be a consequence of the right movements before, not something you can work back from. Just a view, I may be wrong.

      Thanks for your question Mike and a challenging one to answer! One of our greatest influences was a British Professional called Ernest Jones who was the pro at Chislehurst who went to America and became a famous teaching pro. Jones taught the golf swing as a simple pendulum he lost his right leg during the war and played off his left leg. Four months after his amputation he scored a 38 on the front, and despite fatigue, a 45 on the back nine for an 83…remarkable. I would suggest reading his book “Swing the Clubhead”. I think that you may have to adapt from using the right ankle and strong lower body movements to more of a free hinging and swinging action. I used to caddy for Douglas Bader the famous 2nd world war fighter pilot who lost both legs. He managed to play (from memory) to about 15 and of course had no choice but to swing the clubhead with free hinging wrists. So I imagine this will be the area for you to work on. I suspect you are fighting this change but I am also certain that if you can take the stress out of your swing your game will improve more than you expect. Great news that you are out of pain. Do let us know if any of this helps.

    •  Год назад +1

      Along with Philip's great advice I would also like to suggest what is essentially a drill but you could make it your swing. The exercise comes from Jim Flick, a famous coach in the US. DRILL: LEFT FOOT, RIGHT TOE
      Step up to your ball and assume your normal address. Now put all your weight on you left leg and foot, balance on your right toe, and hit some golf balls. You will be surprised how easy this exercise is to hit some great shots - and it will help you to integrate more easily the examples Philip referred to of Ernest Jones and Douglas Bader's swings. Essentially, this drill will help you to practise how to use the swinging arms and hinging wrists more effectively.

      @ I have a similar issue as this fellow, only it's my left ankle that is the injured one. In fact, I am like Tiger Woods, only in the aspect of having the same ankle injury that he most recently had surgery for on his right leg! My doctor has suggested fusion surgery, however several surgeons chimed in regarding Tiger's injury that he was fortunate that it was his right ankle instead of his left. If it would have been the left, he would not have been able to play. Therefore, I am not interested in surgery. Would you recommend this same drill/golf swing for my situation? Or would I do the drill with all of my weight on my right foot? Any additional ideas? Thank you so much!

      @@billricke8232 I am going to go out on a limb here. If there is now way you can ut your full weight on the target foot then I am going to suggest you stanp on your tip toes (regarding the tgt foot only). If possible you wold allow the sole of the left foot to return to the ground after impact and towards follow through. Please let me know how you get on with this. I would be keen to know if this may work for you or not.

    All tips seem so simple, but let's face it without any tuition at your side you don't no why it's going wrong. This goes for all golf so called " help" videos. The Nets full of them 🤷‍♂️🏌️‍♂️
