    I have known for a very long time that my tendency is not to turn enough and to swing too steep. But what I didn’t know was how much did I need to change? What Séan did so brilliantly in this session was to help me discover exactly how much I needed to change to get to where I wanted to be. Brian taught Séan how to coach like this and it was brilliant to be on the receiving end of that. It just proves to me how Easiest Swing is so finely attuned to “how” we learn. I have played three times in the six weeks since this session the first two were ok playing close to scratch but yesterday I only managed 15 holes but had five birdies and an eagle, I dropped one shot where I struck the ball so purely I flew the green and missed a four footer for par. Every other hole I had putts for birdie. I put this all down to this great coaching session with Séan. Thanks Séan you are a GENIUS coach!! ….Oh and I did buy him that beer!!

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  Год назад +1

      The scale is a reference to the steepness or flatness of the swing path (also referred to as swing plane). 0 = extremely flat, 10 = extremely steep. So a 5 is a neutral position, or sweet spot, in between the two extremes.

    Dosent taking the club more inside on the back swing encourage a more over the top outside in swing path on the down swing?

    • @philipsparks8351
      @philipsparks8351 Год назад +3

      That is a good question and for many club golfers whose downswing is on an outside path relative to their backswing, taking the club more on the inside can somewhat exaggerate the fault. However, in this case it was more to do with the fact that I wasn't turning enough in the backswing and this was forcing an upright and outside backswing, a result of an old regime many years ago when I was influenced by a coach who thought the swing should be as upright as possible and the club should swing on a straight line back and through. Involuntarily this comes back to me sometimes. No matter how hard I tried to then attack the ball from the right angle it was pretty much impossible for me to do that. Séan helped me to find a neutral plane and a good angle of attack by helping me to feel where I needed to be. This is evidence that sometimes an outside and steep angle of attack can be the result of what is going on in the backswing not just the forward swing. For club golfers who attack the ball from the outside, a thorough examination of why that is happening is often a question of going through the list of all the possible root causes. This could be lack of turn, /too static in the feet, hips and knees, /too much tension, /interfering with the natural swing of the club, /poor weight transferrence, etc etc. Most times this issue can be resolved by checking the six basics and looking out for the three deadly don'ts. Following Easiest Swing will help all golfer to become aware of these factors. Even as a scratch golfer, I found that there was one of the three deadly don'ts and one of the six basics that was out of kilter thereby causing my issues. Brian had it right when he created Easiest Swing, that the source of nearly all problems can be found within these guidelines.

      @Easiestswing  Год назад +1

      No problem, we'll clear up any confusion you have. Séan is using a scale from 0 - 10 to reference the swing path (plane) 0 = extremely flat, 10 = extremely upright (steep). By asking Philip to swing to a particular number he is allowing Philip to discover where he is in reality versus what he perceives. He wants a more neutral swing path at around 5, he began the session closer to an 8 or 9. By the end he was swinging closer to a 5 but it felt very flat like a 2 or 3. I hope this helps.

    Very interesting and particularly relevant to me. Like Phillip my miss is left caused by club path issues not club face. Often this is caused by tensing up which which encourages me to swing over the top. I use "La Dance" before a shot to relax. My playing partners are baffled that seemingly without effort I am at a club longer than before and more accurate. They think it is alchemy.

    Hello, new to the Easiest Swing...watching this and other videos, are you promoting with your Easiest Swing a more upright path to the backswing or more rounded (i.e. flat)? When I try your basic pivot moves, I feel that the right approach for me is a more vertical swing (I have a bad back and had surgeries on my shoulders, I cannot take on a flat swing as it is too onerous)...am I on the correct path (i.e. for me I would be on a scale of 5-7 as a range on the backswing as being ideal)?

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  7 месяцев назад

      You have already answered this yourself! ES promotes a swing that fits your physique, we are all different so you need to find the swing path that suits your swing not follow some prescription that someone thinks is where you should be. In particular if you follow all the elements of ES you will find your own way, avoiding the 3 Deadly Don’ts while respecting the 6 basics and you will find your own authentic swing. So I think you must follow what feels right.

    •  Год назад +2

      The only thing I will say at this point without seeing a swing is to try to lose the balance to the opposite side to counter balance it. In other words, if you are losing balance because you are falling forward on the back swing see if you can counter balance that by falling backward at the point where you would normally fall forward. Just do the opposite and see what happens. Keep pracising. 5 mins a day will ensure you will start to see results in no time.

      I lost NEM when they started talking numbers. Do the numbers correspond to body turn in the backswing or follow through OR do the numbers relate to the position of the club head / shaft angle. Brian’s instructions were always simple and that is why they were successful. I think it could have come across in a more simple manner. Slow motion and shot tracer always work for me when trying to understand a lesson.👍🇨🇦👨‍🦳

      In this video Séan was helping Philip to achieve a flatter swing path. Philip's swing had got too steep, the path (also referred to as plane) was too upright, causing him the issues he explained. The numbers 0-10 reference varying degrees of swing path/plane. 0 = extremely flat, 10 = extremely steep. Generally this applies to the backswing, but also the downswing to impact. Hopefully this helps explain the process.

    • @philipsparks8315
      @philipsparks8315 11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Pastor Jason the numbers relate to the swing plane - in simple terms vertical would be 10 and horizontal would be 0 so 5 on that scale sits somewhere close to where most golfers want to swing their club. I was unaware that despite aiming for 5, I was swinging much closer to 10 than I wanted. Séan helped me to become more aware of my actual swing plane and helped me to find the place I wanted to be at by using this numbering scale. Now you know this maybe watch it again and it will make sense. Hope that is helpful.

    So lads what number do we want to swing on the right plane

    • @Easiestswing
      @Easiestswing  Год назад

      In this instance, Séan is helping Philip to find a more neutral swing plane at around the 5 mark. By asking him to go considerably lower, he is taking Philip to swing planes he can only achieve by turning more, this ensures his lead heel lifts freely in response to the additional turn, which allows him even more turn than normal. So the swing plane was the task, the real point was to achieve more turn.

    • @philipsparks8315
      @philipsparks8315 Год назад

      Hi Dave I hope you can see that in order to achieve a neutral swing plane (5) it needs to feel like about a 2 or a 1 to me. Gradually as I practice this (in the knowledge I am not achieving 1 or 2 in reality) means I can keep working in that direction. It depends how much a habit like this is entrenched and how easily you make changes as to how long to work on it. Some players will quickly end up over exaggerating the correction others (like me) may work on this for years. Remember we are all individuals!

      Ok if 5 is the ideal plane to swing on, I hadn’t realised how much steeper (upright) I was swinging. When I thought I was swinging at 5, Sean showed me I was still too upright. Using a system to number these different planes (10 almost vertical, 0 almost horizontal) he was able to give me an awareness where I need to be in my own mind in order to get to 5. ….For me, that feels like 2-3!! this helps me to know exactly what to aim for in order to get to the optimum plane. Once I hit that point I hit the ball straighter, strike the ball better, and improve my rhythm.
      To me it shows something I have always professed and that is “if you could feel what you are doing wrong, you wouldn’t do it that way.” Therefore, if you are unaware of a fault you need a coach to help you gain that awareness”. That is the difference with Easiest Swing coaches, that they don’t TELL you what to do but help you gain awareness of HOW to correct yourself. I hope that explains things better for you.

      Séan is using a scale from 0-10. 0 = extremely flat, 10 = extremely steep/upright. This is in reference to the swing path (plane). Hope this helps.

      @@Easiestswing Figured it out after watching twice. Different planes/hand paths do make a difference. Thanks.

    Sean's analytical approach reminds me of a psychiatrist I once saw. Just need a notepad, pencil and seat. That said, Philip is kinda cut from the same cloth. But it's all good. I enjoyed this and can see the real value for those who have the ability to think and reflect about their swing. I suspect that being a master coach Sean can tailor his approach for all comers.

      You are right Séan can help golfers of any standard, I have seen the evidence of his coaching with complete beginners as well as plus handicap players and pros and everyone in between, helping all to find their own Easiest Swing.

    That first swing was straight.. you aimed there and you hit it there.. that was not a Pull shot.

      I’m sorry to disagree but I was aiming at a row of markers on the range and that first shot went straight left of them. As I worked with Séan gradually the ball got closer and closer to the markers. By the end I was sending the ball right of the markers and putting a soft draw on them which was finishing on target.

    Have no idea what you're talking about show me a 9, 2, etc. What is the point of this video??

      Sean is helping Philip to achieve a flatter swing path (plane). The numbers are a scale 0 = extremely flat, 10 = extremely upright. By asking Philip to swing at different numbers, he is guiding him to a more neutral point, like a 5.

      So’ does 5 mean the club’s path is in the middle and it’s the ideal path ? Not much behind , not much out !!

    Gentlemen, I’m not sure about anything that you have spoken about. When the path of the club was illustrated in a blue line I could see what you were talking about. Perhaps you could consider illustrating each of the swings using the blue tracer lines. Otherwise this video contradicts the idea of not using numbers and position’s when using the easy swing method. You lost me with your choice of numbers and have totally lost the object of this video on me. Is the idea of flattening the swing path the objective here. Please take another look at this video and consider your audience, we never got one look at the down the line view. Sorry for rambling on, but rambling is the effect of the video.

      Philip was swinging too steep - so Séan created a scale so he could identify just where steep, neutral and flat were in reality. Once Philip had this scale to work with he quickly knew how to find the neutral plane he was seeking.
