😊🎉 happy belated birthday Sarah 😊🎉 the allotment is coming along looks like your peas would do better on the arch since they grow so fast 😊 and wanted to say all the wood shavings looks fabulous really special n clean n tidy 😊
Oh my, your allotment is amazing! The growth is fantastic you have worked so hard on everything you have accomplished. Especially all of the wooden structures! Now the netting looks really wonderful plus the chips around everything is fabulous. You don’t let anything get by you! I hope you had a fun Birthday 🎂 with your hubby. Have a fantastic week ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
I learnt to not sow sunflower, Broad bean and runner n French bean seeds direct in the beds because the mice eat them. Best to sow in pots then when they are pot bound put in them in the beds and protect….its a right faff
Best thing I ever used for slugs is Beer. You just put some in little jars or plastic containers and bury the containers even with the top of the soil and fill them with beer. Slugs love beer and they climb in and die. Perfectly natural and it really works. Kinda gross emptying the dead slugs out….
Hope you had a lovely birthday Sarah. I really love the netting over the cabbages, the sticks made great hoops to rest it on. Love the look of the woodchip paths, just finishes them off with the odd slab amongst them. All looking mighty grand. Have a good week xxx
Sarah leave the sweet pea flowers so that they produce pods of seeds. Leave them to dry on the vine and you will have a new crop of seeds for next year's planting. I suppose I'm telling you what you already know!
The allotment is looking amazing! What a difference the wood chip makes! It will be awesome once the whole thing is finished, but one thing at a time - you're a very hard worker Sarah - even with ant stings!
Yikes we don’t have red ants here but we do,have black ones in all manner of sizes 🐜🐜. Ants love wood chip too so I don’t use loads of regular chip but cedar seems to be less effected. I’m using gravel in the cage instead of wood chip 🤞🤞. All looking great Sarah and tucking things in for fall is fun, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
Broken egg shells spread between plants keeps slugs away because of sharp edges. You can also spread coffee grounds between rows of crops slugs eat. You work so hard on this plot of land! Keeping up with the Jones's LOL seems to be the motto! Salt those ant hills!
Your protecting your cabbages from the Cabbage White butterfly Sarah. They lay their eggs and its the catapillars when hatched that will have a feast on the cabbage leaves. Do you have rabbits there Sarah? Your sweet peas have shot up. The allotment is looking really good. Awe and sharing it with your neighbours was so lovely. Just enough to grow some nice veg of their own...or flowers. They've done a great job already. Well done to them too. X😊
If you run short off arch poles, an inexpensive way to make arches for netting is to cut a dollar store hula hoop in half and secure it to the ground with a tent peg on each side.
The paint really makes a big difference. It was nice before and even better after. The ants! Ugh, everyday, I get attacked by mosquitoes and/or little tiny baby ants or big fat black ants, especially during harvesting. I'm working on getting rid of both but it's a battle.
The cabbage netting looks great, I hope it stops any little critters from eating them... I'm glad you have to wood chips, it really does finish off the paths nicely!
Really coming along nicely! Growing things in general this year, no matter where in the world, is hard going. We gave up on veg as it just wasn't happy, normally we have loads on the go. Will try again in a month or so.
Your garden looks best in the allotment 🌺🪴🌱red stinging ants yikes😮 hope your better now. Great video… getting a good idea of the community setting and benefits ☮️🦋💜
Hello from Northern California USA. your plot is looking great, don't sell yourself short you're doing wonderful things with it and I'm really enjoying watching it grow. The cabbage covering looks very neat and tidy. Happy belated birthday 🎉
I like your cane things thaat bend I shall have to have a look for those. You did a good job with the netting for the cabbages. Your getting there it looks great.
Another wonderful episode with your gardening skills (yes I said skills) it's been fantastic watching everything grow from seed to flourishing plant thank you again Sarah for sharing your video with us, first class
Looks very lovely, fun odd jobs done, and some nice Irish Dancing as you spread the wood chips with your feet. Talking of feet i hope your Red Ant bites are better.
Always enjoy watching your ingenuity in the garden. The netting looks good over the cabbages. One thing, I’d double check but removing the pea flowers is probably a bad idea because don’t the flowers then produce the peas once they die off? 🤔 Anyway have a good week until we see you again. 🙂
Just out of interest....that wire covered with cotton is called a pipe cleaner. People that smoke pipe and tobacco clean their pipes with it by pushing it through the pipe and clearing it out that way.
@@petro3441 I know what pipe cleaners are but I think what I was using if I recall correctly was foam covered gardening wire that does look like a pipe cleaner on my camera

Yes I’m on to those slugs next year
You should leave the top of your the container an inch above the soil so that beneficial insects do not crawl in. The slugs will climb in.
Happiest Birthday wishes...I whistle your theme music, and think of you gardening... while I do my gardening . Keeps me motivated
Lol I do too I think if I wee filming this mick would speed it up and put music on it lol

I’ve had to put mothballs in my garden for bugs ect. Sunflowers are hard to protect from birds maybe plant a little deeper?
