Re: your squash and pumpkins. You might want to look up ‘blossom end rot”, your soil likely needs more calcium. Bone meal or ground oyster shells can help. I just save my egg shells in a container in the freezer over the winter, bake them on a cooking sheet at 200F for about 15 min to kill bacteria, then crush them up and put them into the soil in the spring. Birds will take tiny shell bits as well for their own calcium needs. Also, if you sprinkle the broken up shells around your plants, cut worms and slugs will be less happy to stay.
What a good sweet corn harvest, and those sunflowers did beautiful. Rhubarb whole money lots of it we love it at our house. I make Rhubarb crumble. Your nasturtium grew like wildfire. I heard you can eat the nasturtium flowers, use them on salad they have a peppery flavor I think. Also have to agree your past a novice now.
Love how you think of the bees Sarah 🐝🐝 I've almost put all my beds to bed now, only had my plot for 6 months so can't wait to get growing in the spring. Best not to put onions in the compost as worms don't like them 😊
Happy New year 🎉 Sarah. What a great harvest. You're making me hungry for all those delicious vegetables and Rhubarb. My garden is under a layer of snow right now, so I'm getting all my seeds ordered for next year. Looking forward to your next video 👋
I've really enjoyed your very successful gardening season with some great harvests. The flowers were glorious and the vegetables were plentiful Looking forward to spring and another planting of your allotment journey ! Happy New Year, love and hugs 🥳🥳🥰 xx
You could have left the chard in for a bit longer and still have a harvest. The quashes looked great and you need to find out if all those are edible before giving them away as some look like goards.. Am looking forwards to see what you grow next year now. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you both a Happy Healthy New Year. ❤
You can fertilize your beds before covering them for winter. It allows the soil to develop for spring planting. Adding peat moss helps to retain moisture in the soil.
Loved my time with you in your allotment Sarah ❤ you had a good crop of various veggies 😋 would love to join you next year. I've been watching this video on the day before new year.🎉❤
It's all so lovely Sarah, next year pull out most of that borage in the wild flower area, it will give the other seeds you plant a better chance, I am hoping you buy alot of colour seeds for next year and of course we will be there with you
Those nasturtiums are still going strong! I don't know what their season is but they look great still... Your face when that little rotten pumpkin fell off was hilarious! 😂
Sarah your garden is larger and beauty, your Nasturtium are gorgeous...corn turn out great...love your garden videos..cant wait til next year...ready for spring to come, love being in my garden beds, getting my hands dirty..videos are great!!
I think just being in the allotment and working at something and having plants grow is a great enjoyment. You have learned a lot and next growing season will be different and enjoyable as well. I have loved watching every video!
I know you are not finished yet, but I wanted you to know. Keep up the amazing work you do. What a lovely time watching you seed and harvest this year! I am looking forward to seeing you again in the spring. Your veggies came out wonderful and I’m glad your daughters and others enjoyed them. See you on the next episode of : Harvesting and putting to bed your beds😊 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
Great years gardening Sarah. Plenty of harvest to gather in. Look forward to future videos. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year xxx ps my bulbs i planted for spring are sprouting oh my days lol xxx
Sarah , you should take a poster board ( or an erasable board would be even better b/c you can use it over & over & only invest once ! ) & map out each bed & what you planted in each one & where ! Also , research what squash & pumpkins can or can't be planted near each other b/c certain ones can cross pollinate. I bought some squash & pumpkin from a local grower & they all tasted alike b/c they were grown too close together! Your corn is done as soon as the silk turns brown . All you need to do is rip open one side of your ears of corn but not take the whole husks off b/c they'll dry out unless you're going to cook them right away ! Better to store them still in the husks ! In the USA, we have a saying " knee high , by the 4th of july " concerning our corn ! The green stalks should be knee height by then . Your growing time is probably different though.
Finished on a high Sarah. Thanks for taking us along on your journey in the allotment. Lived every minute. Happy new year to you and yours. Plus all your followers. Xx
You have had lots of success in the garden this year! My garden is just awful because I had my shoulder replaced in October and I was busy traveling before so I didn’t clean up. I will just do it in the spring.😂
@@sarahsallotmentjourney aww really! I so love your videos, happy to follow your journey. It's inspired me to do more in my garden, since taking over from my Dad who can no longer do it. xx
