in a couple years we can all say the same thing about automation of these jobs! 'well, they DID all hold out for a while, but it was only a matter of time' - I'm amazed that 10k fast food workers have already lost jobs. And is just getting started! ...SO, do we fight for $25 now? Fight for $15 sounds so quaint these days... But, as that one guy in the video wondered, at the price he paid, he is not so sure it was worth it. At a certain threshold, you just become a Complete sucker.

Nobody told me that, and I talked to many of the workers. But I guess it depends on the area you are in. In my area, most fast-food places already pay more than $20 to get people.
But, in and out, they have already paid more than $20, so the law is not why they raised their prices. A few McDonald's pay their employees close to $30 an hour to get people before the law was even thought of. Unfortunately, a lot of it is corporate greed. Even though I love soda, I'll skip it because you can just get soda at the grocery store without any effort. It's arguably also the worst part of a meal that is already unhealthy. But if I'm going out to eat, I'm taking advantage of not having to wash, peel, cut and frying my own potatoes. And for me personally, there just aren't enough calories in a burger unless you stack your burger which I don't enjoy.

Gee. Who didn't see this coming? And now, fast food,..a luxury item many can no longer afford in the state of California. Four burger meals on a Saturday outing with the family plus California's gas prices higher than the rest of the country,..... could equal up to around a hundred bucks. A hundred,....for a burger and fries and a short ride around town. Think about it. The people who run this state and those that vote for them - this is your baby. It's on YOU! Business leaving the state and prices making others think or dream about leaving. The people who pay taxes - gone. Meanwhile, the gov. has told migrants to come into cali and he'll give'em free healthcare on our dime then lies about putting the guard on the border and getting tough. You can't make this stuff up. Vote these people out. Or don't vote at all. They're killing a once awesome state.

After 51 years of beating my body up eating this crap I stay far away from all fast food. Exercise five days and week and don’t even crave it. It’s a good thing as it’s absolutely ridiculous how expensive it is and I put that money towards eating healthy!

People need to discuss why the minimum wage is over $20. I don't blame IN and Out, and I won't spiral into the usual get Newsom bit, but inflation/shrink inflation and when they eluded to the cost of living, the focus needs to start shifting to endlessly printing money (or raising taxes/fines at the state level) to continue business as usual (or worse 'build back better' or other redistribution schemes) at both state and federal levels is unsustainable. The cost of your hamburger combo is just a tiny glimpse of that. Neither In and Out nor it's employees are getting rich off this 'hike'. It's an adjustment based on trillions of dollars in spending and your dollar being worth less today than it was 5 or 10 years ago (or it will be 5 or 10 years from now).

    From a 2021 report - -
    Big Mac in USA: $4.80
    Big Mac in Denmark: $5.15
McDonalds worker salary in USA: $7.25
McDonalds worker salary in Denmark: $22
America is broken - not the math.

It's still cheaper than anywhere else. They also have been paying people well for years. I live in AZ and a double double is $5.55 which isn't bad. In-n-out is one of the few fast food places actually worth the price anymore.

I’m shocked, shocked that there are people in the Bay Area stressing out over 20 cents for an In-N-Out burger. Seriously, if you can afford to live here, fast food is about the most affordable part of living.
Also, the economy isn’t terrible, which is why that drive through line is insane.

In N Out used to be more expensive than McDonald’s, Carl’s Jr, or others.. but I always felt the quality was better so it was worth the extra cost. Now it’s better and cheaper 💯

They went up on January 1st. The employees got a $1 an hour raise. Then again up in April. The employees did not get the raise then. Did it go up in the last week?
I spend $25-50 a day while I am in Cali for work 3 weeks a month at In-N-Out. I would hate to think I have to cut them back to 1 time a day because they jumped up the prices a 3rd time this year.

I haven't had fast or processed food in years. Not sure why people would eat that stuff now a days. I understand years back when it was low cost. But it's not worth it for cost or health at all in any way these days. Go to a grocery store and make something yourself.

I don't eat fast food for health reasons but I've noticed drive thru lines at a local In-N-Out seem to be longer while those at McDonalds and other burger chains have disappeared.

My wife and I eat at In-and-Out in Texas for less than $20 for two meals. I read about the increases in California more than a week ago and it looks like, considering all economic facts as well as food quality and quality, it's still a great deal.

In and out employees already got over $20 per hour. So why is in and out increasing the prices?

I'm surprised anyone could feel the repercussions of a price hike , because In N Out always had the freshest food made fresh , always hot, at more than fair prices . Even with the price hike you can still feed your family without going broke.

Price gauging big time! Wages in the 1990’s at this restaurant were 12-14$ an hour so it went up 30% while prices went up 300%. Employees wages are very low now. It’s terrible 😢

    Why is there sticker shock?
We all knew this would happen when you’re stupid enough to raise the minimum wage to $20.
What do you think the businesses are going to do by necessity?
Everything is going up so your raising the minimum wage is just artificial it’s a mind game.
