When we talk about using a chair, we automatically think of WWE or professional wrestling and the infamous chair shot. Thinking of how you would use random every day objects in self defense is a valuable visualization tool, and can cut down on the time it would take you to react.

Question for Viewers: What is your go-to improvised weapon?
The Headmaster's ruler
A dog
Steel pipes, random pieces of wood, but the easiets to find are rocks on the street. 10/10 would use rocks. 😆
Tajiri green mist.
Tear off my attacker’s arm and use it as a club.
'We cannot hit a kid with a chair on RUclips."
I love how this statment end with "on youtube".... Lol.
@@RynsmthSmth exactly my thoughts. I'm willing to bet a kubaton and a condom that they actually did hit the kid with it after turning the camera off. Like soft. 99% for sure. I mean I'd totally hit my 11 year old son with it if he insisted, like soft, for educational purposes.
@@johnswoboda2986 I concur.
... on RUclips...😏
I like how he says we can't do that on youtube rather than we cant hit a kid with a chair
11:18 this...this is amazing
9:45 Mike: "I'm a professional"
11:18 Mike: "A PROFESSIONAL WRESTLER TAKE THAT SWEET CHIN MUSIC!"
What do you mean: " I can't carry around a chair"? That's how I roll, I carry my chair everywhere, it is also useful if you are waiting in line for coffee, you can sit.
That's brilliant. Imma do that shit now
@@samuelplouvier6559 How did it work out for you?
@@anarch1266also am curious
Imagine walking home and you see a viking ang a person who doesn't know how to wear a short throwing a chair at a tree
Dude, I imagined that
Found you a month ago and this channel is a gem.
Welcome to the party.
You couldn't be more right!
The humble return of Jay! It's about time! I associate the open chair move at 5:51 with lion tamers in the old circus. If you can't beat your opponent, keep him busy.
with that "superkick party" at the end i just have to know who are some of your favorites in aew
Contrary to conventional wisdom, superkicks are much the opposite of sidekicks; while the latter never works, the former always does
0:34 this is giving me so much anxiety
Jay looks good! Has he slimmed down.
Ikea started off as a Chair-Foo dojo - not many know this ;)
I think that your lying...
@@dannyobrian5957 Oh yeah? Well … Poäng Chair to the solar-plexus! How do ya like them meatballs? ( makes get-away in rusty Volvo )
Icy Mike vs Jaguar Jay for a hell in the cell match!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
There is a youtube channel named cr1tical where he teaches on how to weaponiz fleshlights, he even makes it into a body armor
Random person: "Why do you always carry around a fleshlight"
cr1tical: "obviously for self defence"
OMG Mike! Did Jay get pissed after that kick?
Imagine walking by the gym and seeing two people beating each other with a chair
There's a book named "Watch my back", written by a former bouncer. He used to keep weapons in every room, in case someone he fought with on the job came to his home with friends (he's English, so no guns).
Geoff Neal?
@@obscurelines Geoff Thompson
@@daniel-zh9nj6yn6y Doh. Neal's an MMA fighter!
I completely agree with you! The surface area from thrusting would create more damage due to the smaller surface area. Plus it's the safest option and a higher probability of making contact.
This is why Aikido is far more useful when looked at from a weapons perspective.
"we cannot hit a child with a chair on RUclips" 😂 I bet Fight Perfect would disagree 🤣
I'm so glad I found this channel. I just love it. such a huge fan. I'm at a point where I'm watching all the videos going backwards in time.
Jay is back! :) Whenever I think of improvised self defence weapons I am thinking what has the shortest amount of backswing so my attack is disguised and what gives me the most amount of distance from my adversary. Throwing weapons is an on the street thing for me as its normally the precursor to running away and so not something to consider for home invasions. Love your videos guys and the podcast Mike, its weird because I am seeing them all in different order due to RUclips recommends.
Loved this video.
Super kick at the end was great. Totally didn't expect it. I too have had pro wrestling dreams. One day, but I've been working on my martial arts instead.
I typically consider what I'd use as a weapon if I need it, whatever my environment is.
Learn from Jackie Chan if you want to use your environment to the fullest. 😁👌
2:35 legit though, this channel has made me rethink how often my head should be on a swivel when I am outside, and to be mindful how I should get in my car quickly if I need to.
Lol I love it. I always practice the telegraphed haymaker swing but then before it gets there I pull it in to center and jab.
This is why hard2hurt is the undisputed heavyweight champion of Horry County RUclips channels. BROTHER!!!!
Hahaha i do the same thing mike 24/7 imagining the most extreme and unlikely scenarios an immediately start planning for them in my head.
This is great, I love self defense stuff like this where it's worst case real life scenarios
folding chair (especially the ones with smaller round sitting surface) has been one of the prime tool of HK gangster since the beginning of time, the other one is watermelon knife.
the folding chair is no joke actually fairly effective tool lol
11:07 Icy Mike's super hero origin story.
my first idea with the chair is to OPEN it and point the legs at you while having a grip on seat and backrest
So what about using it defensively, to block or parry? I was thinking when you were holding the chair up when it was folded that if someone were to take a swing at you and you put the chair in the way their fist hitting the metal seat of that chair could do some damage to their fist...or using the chair to hit their arm as they swing, or their leg as they kick...and those are just the first things that come to mind...I"m sure with a little thought you could come up wit more options for blocks and parries with the chair, either folded or open.
That intro was hilarious
Fun fact: the metal guard bars you see in grocery stores that keep employees from running into aisles with pallets? A lot or them pull out or their seats and they weigh like 8lbs od solid metal.
I just went to the store and tried it lol. The holes are lubed up.
A quick story that shows why Mike is right about the need to have a plan - a few years ago, around 3am, I was sat in my living room, heard a noise from the other room and went to investigate. I found a guy halfway through my bedroom window. I was able to deal with it by talking to him very clearly while holding both sides of his head with my thumbs just below his eyes, and encouraged him to leave (what's the alternative - pull him in and have to fight him, or push him out and have him kick through the glass?). I was extremely lucky - 10-15 seconds later and he would have been on his feet inside the room and things could have gone quite differently. But what really irritated me afterwards was the realisation that on the way to investigate the noise I had passed a good dozen or so usable weapons that could have been important difference makers if the situation had gone differently and I didn't pick up a single one of them - because I didn't have a plan...
Also I'd be pretty happy controlling the chair with one hand while open and finding myself something long but also one handed, which basically gives me Mace and Shield style western martial arts options. Not quite sword and shield but close enough where there's carryover. Use of the chair one or two handed beats a knife, so there's that. Bas Rutten even says in his Lethal Street Defense video "create some distance and grab a chair" while picking up a bar stool. It's legit
one day, that tree is gonna come for you! also, jay's face to foot style is 10/10
Hey Mike if you ever want to visit a professional wrestling school, that would make a pretty dope video and I have some connections from when I was doing that full time.
You know you want to.
Well done.
Fun game if ever you are say waiting somewhere. Imagone someone wull rush into the room in 30 seconds or 6 mins or whatever and you have to defend yourself. What would you use in the room you are in? Heightens your understanding of your space.
I love the young bucks reference!!!!
I actually had to deflect a chair that was thrown at me irl. Hit just the sit itself, then it just fell without inflicting any major injury to anyone
Right now within my grasp is a walking stick, a pair of scissors, and a propane torch. In a self defense situation which of these would you grab first?
Hey Mike how are you doing ? Could you teach us how to do a Superman punch off of a wall please. And stay safe man.
I got the Philadelphia cream cheese ad with the pro wrestler as soon as the video ended
The only fly in the ointment that I can think of is that you had better not be touching that chair if the cops show up.
What about folding the chair up and hitting with the edge, rather than the flat?
4:27 Mikes kid behind the camera "Use it as a baton" when he broke off the chair leg... Mike "Silently screams about how useless batons are for self defense"
Please do a video about using a normal belt as a weapon for self-defense!
Hi, Mike! @hard2hurt
What track is on 11:04? Can't find one nether on spotify or soundcloud. Thanks!
Until they were replaced by chair ,there were kung do styles that included training in using bridge benches for fighting, because every teahouse and restaurant had them for seating
Just tie the strings in it and always carry it with you like as the backpack works for me.
I think like this too!
Could you make a video on self defense tools for petite women, I walk my dogs at night and other than pepper spray, what are other things I can take along to feel safe? I’m not into guns personally so concealed carry is not an option for me.
Well if a gun is not an option, besides the pepper spray, i would pack on some muscle and learn to fight.
Couldn’t the attacker just karate push kick the chair? And wouldn’t that do some damage if I’m holding the chair and I get it kicked into me?
Great stuff 😊👍
I’m just remembering that wholesome video of John cena getting a chair for a Christmas present
I got jumped one time and after I regained myself I went inside and grabbed this super heavy ass Kitchen chair and chucked it at the main dude who attacked me and the fact it just threw him off gave me leverage
JAY!!! and mike.
Why not do the jabs with it folded so you can grab the back support and a leg support and drive it real hard
As a person in a country where carrying laws are strict, hearing of having a gun next to you on the sofa is kinda nutty not gonna lie. Is that normal in the states or is that kind of outside the norm? Cool video!
You guys are dorks I love it lol!
This or a shopping cart?!
This is a wwe special, so I ll go with the chair
Proper lol at the intro. Funny as f.
Sitting here eating cereal looking at the front door then looking down at my spoon.i need a better plan
It didn't really do anything but, I've flipped a table onto someone's foot and throw a plastic chair before. 😆 They make great shock value tools to get distance. Because, let's face it, they wouldn't see that coming.
Do the Milwall Brick!
Can u do more boxing vids
Bro, can you show us some "basic" Muay thai sweeps from clinch?
I think that could be more quality content than this.
I love your channel.
I think using the blade edge of the folding chair would be more effective...
In Itally, a friend had an argument in a dodgy restaurant, he ends puhing the guy that had picked up a knife using a chair as a shield. (do not remember how the story ends)
Please, ask him how the story ends :'3
Stone Cold, Stone Cold, Stone Cold!!!!
Using a chair as a improvised weapon is probably the most realistic knifedefence tactic out their in my humble opinion (really humble I don't claim any expertice)
Also #yaaayforJay
2:25 lol
I hear dollies ( trollies ) make good weapons too.
Go to 11:19 , then press the > key until you get the frame where Jay's face takes the hit. Screenshot that shit.
Carry around a chair. Got it!
Guy pulled a chair on me in high school,
I was scared of getting jabbed in the face with the chair-leg-feet,
I decided to leave him alone, so it worked I guess
My only concern would be: the bad guy now has a weapon.
GIVE 'EM THE CHAIR!!!
Hey Mike love the videos bro. But wanted to ask a question. I am 55 and am getting back into boxing training on a double ended back and slip bag. The problem I have is the best way to train for self defense as I am getting older and am vulnerable for the following reason which is which I stopped many years ago doing any club training. I have a rare condition which result in multiple tumors over 30 plus in my torso which cause chronic pain and other issues. Yet I still want to train at home to improve my technique and speed so at least I might make a mugger or asshole starting trouble to think twice and hopefully back off. Because of my condition training in a gym or dojo is no longer viable but in self defense I want to have the best chance. So how do you train on your own to give yourself a fighting chance. Thanks as always Mike any advice is appreciated. Thanks JF
I would suggest private 1 on 1 training with a coach who can make adjustments for you.
@@hard2hurt thanks mike really appreciated.
0:23 ok RVD
So the old kung fu bench forms are actually valid now?
That was actually the first thing that I thought of.
Did this man just take a kick to the face
Yep
I almost always have a knife on me. Or I carry a bokken or cane if I jack my legs up. But if not then rocks bricks pieces of wood or metal. Look for hard shit to use wrestling and shit to throw people head first into or trip them into windows.
i might just carry around a chair now
SWEET CHIN MUSIC
Jayyyyyy!!!
Hey sweety welcome home what did you do today?
...well I spent a decent amount of time throwing a folding chair at a tree...😁
...I am going to stay with my mom for a few weeks.😦
@@RynsmthSmth lol ya i guess your right hahaha
Bro i laughed so hard at this. thanks for this comment hahaha i sorta stole this line for the next video. DM me on insta if you see this i want to send you a t-shirt
9:25. Why not?😕
I've got samurai swords, knives and axes all over my flat, I'm spoilt for choice😆not allowed to buy anything for self defense in England tho, it's stupid, so we have no choice but to improvise if we're not in the home
I also want some small bald dude in my area to run around with a steel chair, chucking it at trees. Seems fun
Admittedly this is the kind of thing I think about when I'm sitting on the toilet.
Did you hit jay’s fingers with that double leg kick? If yes, jay played it off well. If no, you’re better at double leg kicks than me
Nice Van Daminator, sorry you got Pillmanized.
you should give me boxing classes
So, that’s what Steve Blackman has been up to after the WWE
Wait... you're not gonna throw a chair at each other?? That's 11 minutes of my life I'm not getting back... not cool bro...
I take it back... was worth it to see Jay get kicked in the face 😂
The steel chair is junk, brother. I always carry around a kendo stick and a couple folding tables.
I conceal carry a steel chair for self defense
WWE what is that? I immediately think Jacky Chan!!!😁
