  • At last I install the Esu lok sound v5.0 hi-fi sound file {16bit audio dual speakers}
    to the Trix Big boy.
well worth the extra effort and money.
This is a stunning model with very high quality parts and electronics.
This sound file is very nice and sounds like the prototype.
Aux 3 is the number boards at the front.
Aux 2 is the cab lighting.
Aux 1 is the main lights and smoke gen.
(smoke gen could be isolated and controlled on Aux 4.
    Trix 22115
    Spectacular version with smoke deflectors.
Detailed tooling changes to the locomotive and tender.
    DCC digital decoder.
Numerous light and sound functions that can be controlled digitally.
Model: The locomotive has a DCC digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It also has controlled high-efficiency propulsion and a powerful motor. 8 axles powered. Traction tires. The locomotive has an articulated frame enabling it to negotiate sharp curves. It also has Boxpok driving wheels. The middle driving axles are spring-loaded. The headlight, backup light on the tender, and the number board lights are maintenance-free, warm white LEDs. 2 smoke generators (Seuthe no. 10) can be installed in the locomotive; the contacts for them are on constantly. The headlight, backup light on the tender, the number board lights, and the engineer's cab lighting will work in conventional operation and can be controlled digitally. There is a powerful speaker in the tender and the volume can be adjusted. Coupler hooks can be inserted in the pilot on the front of the locomotive. There is a close coupling between the locomotive and tender. Steam lines are mounted to swing out and back with the cylinders. The locomotive has separately applied metal grab irons. There are many separately applied details. Figures of a locomotive engineer and fireman for the engineer's cab are included.
Length over the couplers 46.5 cm / 18-5/16".
The locomotive comes in a wooden case.
This model can be found in an AC version in the Märklin H0 assortment under item no. 37994. What a mean machine, I think my son's got a challenger with the elephant ears made by MTH. The Big Boy is the heaviest machine we have, again by MTH. Yours certainly runs well, not a hint of wobble. ATB, Andy.

Hi Andy yeah it's rock solid and very heavy this model..a lot of care is needed when picking up and putting on the rails..I use the long process rerailer for that..
MTH make some amazing loco models..
      Thanks jim 👍🏻

Hi Jim, I love the TRIX BIG BOYS :-)). The installation of the ESU decoder was worth it. The sound is great now. Good idea to install a sugar cube in the boiler. So the sound sounds much more realistic. Thanks for sharing, stay safe, Dirk

You have to change the aux exit in the Programmer for the number boards and to switch the cab light separately. And the driving shuff isn’t right. Really sad that ESU doesn’t fix that. I fit my Big Boy with loksound too

      Thanks Marc ,
Yeah the older esu sound files are more correct on the sync of the chuffs , the hi - fi files are not correct as you say but I will wait for a update.
I am happy for now as compaired to the orignal Marklin sound file the Esu file a big improvement for me..☺jim

Hey, JIm! Great video. Did the Trix Big Boy not have speakers in it, or did you just remove them beforehand? Anyhow, great sound and nice job !

      Hi Anthony!
Yeah but you know me I have to try different speakers to see if a better sound is possible..

Very nice locomotive that 👍 these projects must be costing you a fortune considering the price of ESU v5 decoders 😭

      Hi John,
Yeah the cheapest supplier is coastal dcc about £90 each.
I have stopped buying locos etc
      Just revamping certain locos.
The v5 chios make a huge difference on the motor control even on the older Marklin 5 pole motors...
Next is the flying 🍔 hamburger.

Hi Jim. What happened with the earlier chip which failed? Were you able to reset it and re use it?

      Hi Mihir,
      I hope you're doing good.
No the chip would not reset I had to send it back to my supplier who was very good about it..
      The chip got replaced.
