Great loco and a great install Jim. Impressive.
Thanks Laurie 👍🏻
What a mean machine, I think my son's got a challenger with the elephant ears made by MTH. The Big Boy is the heaviest machine we have, again by MTH. Yours certainly runs well, not a hint of wobble. ATB, Andy.
Hi Andy yeah it's rock solid and very heavy this model..a lot of care is needed when picking up and putting on the rails..I use the long process rerailer for that..
MTH make some amazing loco models..
Thanks jim 👍🏻
Hi Jim, I love the TRIX BIG BOYS :-)). The installation of the ESU decoder was worth it. The sound is great now. Good idea to install a sugar cube in the boiler. So the sound sounds much more realistic. Thanks for sharing, stay safe, Dirk
Many thanks Dirk👍🏻
excellent
Nice Video. A very nice Model. 🤩
Danke 👍🏻...jim
Brilliant video Jim!
thanks 👍🏻
very nice Locomotive!
thanks..hope you are well 👍🏻
Great stuff as always mate 🙂
Thanks Sean 👍🏻
You have to change the aux exit in the Programmer for the number boards and to switch the cab light separately. And the driving shuff isn’t right. Really sad that ESU doesn’t fix that. I fit my Big Boy with loksound too
Thanks Marc ,
Yeah the older esu sound files are more correct on the sync of the chuffs , the hi - fi files are not correct as you say but I will wait for a update.
I am happy for now as compaired to the orignal Marklin sound file the Esu file a big improvement for me..☺jim
Hey, JIm! Great video. Did the Trix Big Boy not have speakers in it, or did you just remove them beforehand? Anyhow, great sound and nice job !
Hi Anthony!
Yeah but you know me I have to try different speakers to see if a better sound is possible..
Very nice locomotive that 👍 these projects must be costing you a fortune considering the price of ESU v5 decoders 😭
Hi John,
Yeah the cheapest supplier is coastal dcc about £90 each.
I have stopped buying locos etc
Just revamping certain locos.
The v5 chios make a huge difference on the motor control even on the older Marklin 5 pole motors...
Next is the flying 🍔 hamburger.
What brand is the locomotive?
Trix of Germany
Hi Jim. What happened with the earlier chip which failed? Were you able to reset it and re use it?
Hi Mihir,
I hope you're doing good.
No the chip would not reset I had to send it back to my supplier who was very good about it..
The chip got replaced.
