This was amazing. I really appreciate people speaking against porn. It is a brutal thing. If I could go back in time then I'll stop myself from being exposed to these images. The damages it has done on me at times have felt unbearable. I feel pathetic that I saw all the things I saw and the things that I can't unsee and the impact it left on me. Anyone who is reading this and going through something similar I'll ask you to stay strong! Peace.

Ture. Before porn, a man would have seen max on or two women in his whole life, who most probably happens to be his wife or lover, even with wife there were certain limits. But now, young boys are exposed to thousands of beautifully presented women bodies and boys and men who are having no wife are going crazy in many ways and not sparing even little children. Exposure to women bodies, is biggest curse humanity is facing now and we should all fight against it.

The saddest part is that the natural emotional discomfort about the immorality of it, the feeling that it's bad for you is being explained away by how you just aren't "liberated enough" yet... I've fallen into that trap because I grew up at the opposite side of the spectrum, where even a brief thought, natural desire was considered sth that would make me a bad person. It doesn't, policing thoughts and instincts is insanity, just as it i as to allow them to completely control us, make us slaves to them.

children shouldnt have access to internet tbh. coz either internet is restricted in many ways and children are on, or in every corner you will see children accessing stuff and being damaged in one or another way. and im not even talking about porn. look at tiktok.. look at instagram.. look at cult sites... look at online gambling.. at this point 95% of internet damages children so i dont even know why we still allow them on the internet. its no brainer that its easier to ban access to internet for kids and fine parents that give that access ( same as we would fine parents who give access to alcohol) than change entire internet.

Number 2: it’s literally porn which comes from the word porneia which literally means unlawful sex…hence why it’s messed up within itself.
Number 3: it glorifies one sided-pleasure, the idea that women like violence and that sex has to be violent when it’s not it’s a connection. (This is extremely damaging considering the average age a boy is exposed to it in the US is 11 years old). There are countless cases of YOUNG boys younger than 12 who have copied out what they’ve seen in those disgusting videos and raped even YOUNGER girls.
Number 4: glorifies cheating, incest, misogyny, racism, sexism, pedophilia (the most popular category is teen that says enough)
Number 5: its literally made to be addicted and some men have to go through literal therapy to help stop.why would you want to defend something like that?
Number 6: it makes men weak. It makes them give in to their flesh which means they’re a lot more likely to cheat in real life when they’re in a relationship and they’re addicted. Not to mention it’s the cause of 56% of divorce in the US.
The only people blind enough to defend it are people who have addictions themselves. Do your research, talk to some people who were once in the industry (I could give you a few) and you’ll see how horrific it really is.
It is literally a platform for violent nonces! Even Ted Bundy himself said ALL people he knows who have committed violence against women watch porn a lot.

The idea that it'd be freely available should have obviously started people thinking that a likely consequence was people becoming desensitised and demanding ever more extreme practices, in hindsight it seems obvious. Return the paywalls, just make it an effort to access and far fewer people will be so badly affected. Make it easier to do something else and people will do that instead. My brothers mate watched a lot of porn from being a kid and sex became nothing to him so he was more interested in extreme acts of sexual gratification but once he came he was empty in his soul, his words, he’s late 40s now and says he’s never loved a woman!!! yea he’s single.

Sometimes I get the impression that we're confusing the finger with the moon. The problem isn't porn itself, but the reason why many people, predominantly men, watch it. I don't believe there's a man in the world who, being in a long-term relationship with someone he likes, cares about, and finds attractive, with an active sex life, would prefer to watch a porn video rather than have sex with his partner. If a man has a wife who wants to have sex with him regularly, I assure you, he wouldn't have either the energy or the reason to watch porn.
We're not talking about people who give up an active sex life to watch porn, but about those who, for various reasons: sexless marriages, lack of physical attraction, single individuals who haven't found a partner - find themselves choosing between hunger and McDonald's. No sane man would refuse a good homemade meal to eat fast food; if he goes to fast food, it's because he has no other options to turn to. We should work on this: reduce the demand to decrease the supply. It's pointless to block the supply if the demand continues to persist.
I have watched several videos of Louise, and while many of her solutions are effective, in others she completely lacks perspective. The reason is that, like many other women who address these topics, she rarely takes the male point of view into consideration. She focuses exclusively on the female perspective and what can benefit women. You can't solve a social problem by considering only half of the population.

I was really hoping for a more convincing argument… there was a number of issues in her reasoning but it was towards the end (11:12) that I decided to leave a comment. “It’s so much easier to give up porn than factory-farmed meat and clothes made in sweat shops because we have to feed and clothe ourselves”. Could I get a scientific journal reference for this claim please or… perhaps she at least has a psychology background? Doesn’t seem like it…
But, much more fundamentally, what exactly is the alternative? I fully accept that there’s tons of issues with the porn industry, but I feel they are symptoms of a sick society and we should be seeking to understand what made it sick in the first place. It’s the same argument as for drugs (including alcohol and tobacco, which are by far the most harmful drugs) - you create more problems by making them illegal, so you have to regulate them and address the root causes. People who develop substance abuse issues often grow up without fathers and experience trauma in their childhoods… I would guess (and not boldly claim without evidence) that people who watch child porn have also experienced some kind of trauma. Focus on the root causes and not the symptoms.

Yes, excellent point and I generally agree with you that Ariel Levy and "Female Chauvinist Pigs" were, in one sense, ahead of their time. But what is worrisome to me is that the full extent of internet porn and its harmful impact on society and relationships had not then evolved to the situation we are in witnessing today. In retrospect, Levy efforts seems not to have had the desirable adverse impact on the phenomena still unfolding before us. Between Levy's book and Louise Perry's volume so much has changed--and for the worse--that it beggars belief. This is especially true in terms of the violence against women that occurs in porn as well as the violence against women that Perry documents occurring in parallel in the contemporary "hook-up" dating culture. Having read both, to those who have read neither work, I would suggest beginning with Louise Perry's book, then turn back (in time, so to speak) and read Ariel Levy's volume. Perry is sounding not only an alarm, but her prescriptive recommendations are far more radical than Levy's were.
My only quibble with Louise Perry is that after finding one's true soulmate, children should follow. I am still searching for my beloved, but I have no desire for children [and I hope she won't either].

So, halfway through, you can be extreme as f, and they don't want to just waste time, so they do it. Millionaire stars have said they did things they didn't want to just to make everyone happy. If women didn't keep saying years later they felt coerced, sure... But it's clear, too many women can't make a decision in the moment, that doesn't feel coerced, even when no one is doing it. @@pera.j.andersson huh? How about we stick to not abusing people for money because we can, I think that's the only criteria I'm after here.
It destroys women writ large on several levels, even the 2% that say they're in love with it and love doing it. And it's no different than gambling, limbic feeder pellet bar browser games, social media likes, and subliminal messaging etc.
these are some of the worst offenders. It's not a hard line in the sand, but if you want a temperature gauge look at who's become billionaires in the last 50 years, this isn't your mother's Mervyn's ads and mini skirt fashion and sexy sunglasses of the 60s. this is piped in under the radar to the ignorant masses that don't know they're being abused and putting money, billions in the hands of the abusers.
this goes far beyond the models that make comparably so little. But yes, porn is the worst of them. It's for the exact same reason we don't allow advertisement of crack, and don't allow people to use subliminal advertisement, or put cocaine in soft drinks.
And it's not just that it steal money from the ignorant, disabled, weak, stupid and poor and gives it to a handful of psychopathic individuals that couldn't find their morals with both hands.
It literally ruins people, and very, very unequally. Isn't that what we're trying to minimize?
And besides porn is exactly as explained, it's not summed up in naked bodies it's glistening, wet, smooth, luscious murder of good will toward your neighbor.
and how many disabled, neglected and abused poeple are thrown down on the tracks for this false equality?
How many marriages and lives ruined? You think rich people suffer from this?
and the state? well you sold out to the State long ago in the UK when you gave up the good fight for freedom of speech, don't know why you'd care about that.
but the best we can do is balance the power. shall we go back to companies being the arbiter of whetehr the water is clean, and food is safe?

He is only consenting to it because he's desperate for money and has no other avenue for income and because he thinks he can do it at that moment, probably even enjoys it for a little while. so women giving consent is not women given consent.... that sounds like women need to be treated like kids. I found it ironic that feminist artists used women as a subject matter and even women's bodies (licking as a chisel, paintbrushing as in smearing pain on her naked body then jumping on a canvas) as objects. Then there was the argument that "no means no" followed by "women should say no when they mean no" (logically that sounds that no means yes, but I don't want the responsibility of what yes allows). Now this, "even when women give consent does not mean they give consent." Logically that means porn or no porn, women are or should be treated the same as we treat the insane and the child. That is just sick.

Women like to please, and thus, we get coercion, even without men needing to do anything. this can apply to some degree to regular sexual relationships too, but that´s definitely an easier context to say "no" than when you´re in the middle of a porn production. If you think about it, it´s shockingly similar how even in a conventional workplace, people (esp. if they are good at their jobs) get hit with more tasks down the line that they didn´t agree to, originally- do they usually say no? I doubt...
