Oasis have an incredible catalogue. Songs that get better, the more you hear them. Such a vibe/feel that reflects growing up in Manchester, UK.
Yes they do! Amazing band!
Correct. They have many great songs.
I would like to suggest an Oasis (live) reaction.
Oasis (live by the sea) “Slide Away”. ✌️
Thanks
12 number one album's on the bounce, and most of the best are b- sides!!
In the catalog of "great songs" that sits in the sky somewhere..."Live Forever" is one of the best songs ever written. Super simple (all root chords), un-ironically optimistic, with a beautiful and edgy melody that cuts right to the point. If this was the only song that Oasis ever charted, that would be enough to make them legendary.
its sad that many people only know them as the "Oasis" band. Pretty much every song from their debut is better than that
All the salty comments about Oasis are strange, the fact is that 27 odd years after Live Forever was released, somebody on RUclips is making comment and enjoying the song, as did millions of people at the time. Whether you like them or not, Oasis in the Uk were era defining, they had a huge impact on youth culture, and are still massively revered today, and not many bands from that long ago still have that impact, that counts, even if you don’t like the music or them as people.
I genuinely don't understand how you can hate Oasis' music. I get how someone might hate the 'lad culture' that can surround a band like this, but not the music itself.
@@allbies i genuinely dislike their music, i know I'm in the minority particularly amongst my friends, seeing as we're all from Manchester but I've never liked it from day one, and yeah I'm old enough to have been there in their hayday.
@@darbo1977 was the hayday on a wheatday? 😂 Sorry couldn't help it, childish i know, sorry 😔
27 years???? Oh my goodness I'm getting old LOLOL It was like yesterday I heard this CD for the first time. I said CD. That proves that I'm old now. Ok, I'm having a crisis....
@@lisajohnson521 27 years before Live Forever came out was (cough cough) 1967!
This song made me fall in love with Oasis and began a life long love of music in general, it is that influential in my life. You have to also understand the vacuum of good quality stuff in the charts at that time and this came through like a steam train... it was just different. The swagger, the attitude and the sound.
Yes I remember my first time hearing this on the radio when it was new (I even remember exactly what I was doing) and thinking ok THIS is different. And special.
Probably the biggest rock band out of UK in the 90s, so many amazing tracks to check out
They were the biggest. Fastest seeking debut at the time, highest selling album of the decade and fastest selling album of all time at that time. 3 records for 3 albums 💪🏼
Liam's singing style worms it's way to your soul.
Oasis, are fucking amazing so many good songs, Acquiesce, sh's electric, Rock 'n' roll star, whatever, the list is endless
Noel Gallagher said he was sick of hearing artists like Kurt Cobain singing about hating life and wanting to kill himself etc and went with the mentality of 'im not having that, I wanna live forever'
The crazy thing is Noel went into a back room and wrote this song acoustically with around 15 minutes!!
It knocked bohemian rhapsody off the top spot of being the best selling UK single of all time.
Not best selling but a poll of the best song
Thought it was written about liam and noels mother that’s what Liam said on the 71 questions
@@thomasiden6865 nah Noel said he made it during the grunge days and heard the nirvana song I hate myself and I want to die and basically said am not having this and the youth shouldn’t be hearing songs like that so he made live forever.
@@benwratha6628 makes me wonder if songs about hating yourself and wanting to die maybe did that to people because they had this cool singer singing about it.
That's was Supersonic he wrote in 15 mins lol. Trust me I just watched the Definitely Mabey documentary.
Oasis were arguably the biggest band in the world in the late 90s. Brad moving back and forth and Lex the one standing still, must be in the twighlight zone today.
they were huge and they sold out every concert and def the biggest band in the world in the 90s without question
easily in the uk but not the world, not even close. U gave to realise how big nu metal was back in the 90s. People in Bangladesh/ Brazil etc were listening to someone like korn but not to oasis
@@memyselfandi2506 Yes they were stop chatting shite, the world is a big place Oasis were the biggest band.
@@memyselfandi2506 Try looking at some of their world tour, for instance look up Argentina, a country who predominantly hate the UK and speak little English and see what Oasis does to them.
Oasis are my all time favourite band they have so many great tunes. I think you guys would love their tune Stop crying your heart out.
Oasis were superstars, the biggest band in the world at the time. Massive music backed by massive rock and roll attitudes in the sense that they were self aware and didn't care what people thought because they knew they were the best in the world. They're legendary. And Liam (the lead singer) is still selling out stadiums and headlining some of the biggest festivals in the UK.
This was a response to Nirvana's I hate myself and want to die , Noel was a big fan of there's and wanted a bit of positivity
From what ive seen nole say idk if he was a fan? lol but if I remember correctly this song came out days after Cobain died. He never got to hear it. Noel was sick with Nirvana telling kids all this negative garbage. Its a shame Cobain never got to hear the song that might've changed things for him...we'll never know.
@@FupaLipa Kurt was an amazing front man ,I was lucky enough to see him in 92 Christ that ages me !! I think he was more sarcastic than legit about his lyrics ,and got misconstrued
@@FupaLipa noel was a huge nirvana fan
Plus Cortney killed him !!
@@duncanpearce7169 what’s the last thing Courtney Love said to Kurt?
Answer: “open your mouth, close your eyes, here comes a big surprise.”
“It struck me that this fu##er, an extremely talented guy, had everything I wanted,” Gallagher explained. “He was rich, he was famous, he was in the greatest rock and roll band of its time - and he’s writing songs saying he hates himself and wants to die! My way of thinking was, Well, I fuckin’ love myself, and I’m gonna live forever, man!”
This is Noel Gallagher speaking on Kurt Cobain
Wow 😯 eye opening to understand the song, thanks. Yes it’s sad, but sadly these big more than life rock stars/movie stars, celebrities I guess there’s a dark side to the business. 😔💕
Brad, you are correct. This song is about living forever though their music. This song is off their first album and was written before they became successful. So it’s also saying this feels like their time to just go for it and make it big. They sure did that.
'Oasis - Supersonic' is a real banger.
ALL TIME BANGER
💯
Especially Live.
@@Neil_BT Definitely not 'live' for a 'first time listen' of the song ... The studio recorded version is far more clearer and balanced mix of the song, more suitable for a first time reaction. They could always check out live versions after.
@@Music-tg5is most of the definitely maybe studio recordings sound too nasally when it comes to liams voice. Live also shows the attitude of oasis. I think wembley 2000 is the best version
Oasis are legitimately great and unlike a bunch of other '90s and 2000s music their songs actually hold up quite well. A later lesser known tune of theirs which is a favorite of mine is Lyla
I think a lot of 'Britpop' has aged pretty well tbh, the majority of Oasis, Blur, Pulp and even early Arctic Monkeys has all aged really well imo
Oasis was always good at making catchy choruses/verses. Love to listen to their stuff when I'm feeling down. Always feel better afterwards
Oasis were the last band to define an era in Britain. Because of how the music industry is now in terms of how accessible it is & the way streaming platforms have impacted record sales it's difficult to see another band coming out of the UK to rival their impact on a generation or to achieve that level of success. There have been great big bands since like Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Kasabian but they don't come anywhere close to Oasis in terms of a cultural impact
The Libertines and Arctic monkeys didn't then ? The Arctic monkeys have the fastest selling British Rock n roll album ever. Honestly some people don't know jack.
@@iamthewalruscuckookachoo1372 Artic Monkeys are great but Oasis has transcended generations, literally every generation since the 90s has loved them, Liam's shows in 2023 were full of 17-25 year olds
Oasis was formed by the brothers Gallagher: Liam does most of the lead vocals; Noel does vocals, lead guitar and writes the songs. And this is the all-time classic Oasis track; the one that sent them to superstardom. Rebellious, yet positive, with Liam's most Lennon-esque vocals and Noel's awesome guitar work.
the band was already a thing before liam gallagher and noel joined
@@robbiewainwright9078 Not true. Noel details, in his own recorded words, the origin of the band in the official Oasis documentary "Supersonic". Liam had formed a band, (not called Oasis yet) but the songs were terrible. So Liam asked Noel to join, and Noel agreed as long as he got to write ths ongs. At that point, they arrived at the name Oasis for the band. Even then, Noel explains that it wasn't until he wrote (over the course of one night) and the band recorded the song "Live Forever" that the band truly became Oasis.
@@alan73795 the band was originally called the rain and consisted of bonehead, tony mccarrol, guigs and the lead singer was chris hutton, the rain then got rid of chris hutton and liam joined the band and eventually changed the name to oasis. u really don’t know your stuff
@@robbiewainwright9078 The band we know as Oasis was formed when Liam asked Noel to join; that's when they became Oasis using Noel's compositions; i.e., "Oasis was formed by the brothers Gallagher". Playing semantics on the definition of "formed" does not change the fact that the band was not Oasis until Liam asked Noel to join. That's like saying Led Zeppelin was formed before Plant, Jones and Bonham joined, because Page was already in a group called The Yardbirds. Even though they were already playing "Dazed and Confused" and "White Summer-Black Mountain Side" they were not Led Zep; they didn't become Zeppelin until after Plant, Jones and Bonam joined . There's nothing more to add to this except watch the film and listen to Gallagher brothers own words.
@@alan73795 well if your going by that liam changed the name to oasis and noel still wasn’t in the band mate
The outro to this song is some of my favorite stuff oasis ever put down to record.
Born in the 70s enjoy lots of bands but somehow when oasis came out in the 90s they connected with me like no other band ever has.
I love how you can hear Manchester throughout!
More Oasis reactions please! What a band and incredible experience to see them live.
one of the greatest British bands, please do more, also in the 90's they were immense live
The song was inspired by Noel Gallagher watching Nirvana perform over here in England and he took offence to the song ‘I hate myself and I want to die’ after Kurt Cobain killed himself, they dedicated this song to him at the next gig they played. My favourite oasis song.
You should check out Slide Away, it’s a rock and roll love song. Best of both worlds
For me there will never be a greater musical phenomenon than oasis x
I love the volatility of your music choices for your reactions, bet you are building some banging playlists. Sending love from the UK
The live version completely changes the context of the song and truly beautiful
I like that you guys aren’t interrupting the music as much as you used to. Makes it a better listening experience for you and us.
I could not click fast enough! This is one of my favorite Oasis songs. I'm so excited... LET"S GO!
That was cool seeing Brad being poetic and Lex literal for a change.
Best Oasis song in my opinion. Thank you for doing this!!
The soundtrack of my youth, we were 15/16ish yrs old when this was released and we certainly lived life…
Wasn't ever a fan of Oasis back in the 90's but this is a great track
You both have to keep on going down this Oasis rabbit hole now, you will not be disappointed.
I remember hearing that song and that band for the first time, when they were new, one summer night in 1994. It remains lodged in my heart and should. That song, that voice, that amazing coda.
Try Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger" or "D'You Know What I Mean"
I love your reactions you manage to do the instantaneous reactions and in depth analysis. You should try some Stone Roses too
Oasis is my fav band and this is a great tune. I have a huge music collection but just love these guys. The solo inspired me to pick up a guitar. They are one of those bands that the more u listen to the more they get under your skin. I love the outro on this tune also. Sounds very sort of Pink Floyd/David Gilmour.
Lots of Love to both of you Brad and Lex from Manchester UK.x
In the video there’s a bit where some drum sticks are taken out of a buried guys hands, and laid on the grave, this was to represent the falling out and parting ways of their drummer.
the grunge Beatles took you two into some deep philosophical discussion!!!!😯 😊😊😁😁
I couldn't really get into rock music as much before Oasis, their music is like the perfect balance between hard & soft rock.
One of the best songs ever written.
Should check out some of their live performances from back in the day. Amazing.
This was the fastest selling debut album in The UK when it came out in '94
This song reminds me of my youth and first love. Both are long gone. I still smile from this though.
Omg brilliant band. Supersonic next please 👍
LOL that Lex doesn't like how Liam sings "Mayyyybe", when of course he did the same thing on "Wonderwall" ("Mayyyybe you're gonna be the one who saaaaaaves me"). You can't ask Liam to change; he thinks he's John Lennon reincarnate and nothing's going to change that.
It's oasis and I love the vocals the drums, the guitar, the message is like grab life and I'm all for that!
People are so funny oasis were the biggest band in the world from
1994-2001 ❤️❤️❤️ love UK rock
It will love forever x
Love this song!! The more you here it the more you get from it!! It's a positive song!! We get the jokes the younger people won't get!! Liams voice is great!! Love it!!
I remember listening to this song constantly on a demi CD from Columbia Records in the early 90's. The disc had about a dozen tracks on it, one from each band showcased. The other bands didn't amount to much, except this one called Radiohead the song on the disc was called Creep.
Oasis are the only band ive ever seen who sound better live than on their records defiantly go see them if you ever get a chance. Wembley stadium all singing along to Dont look back in anger was spine tingling.
Strange when you realise people haven't heard this song! Oasis were my life and many other kids growing up in the mid 90s, there will never be anything like this again! But I dont think Americans really get them!
Not to offend, but as an American who genuinely admires and feels indebted to the English for so much, I never could understand why they viewed Oasis as a great band. Most of the bands i love and consider to be great bands are English and then there is Oasis. To me, Oasis is mediocre at best. Everything sounds like it has been rewritten enough to ensure nothing interesting survived or maybe nothing interesting ever happened in the genesis of such songs. The arrogance of the Gallaghers is part of the problem. Oasis seemed a spectacle of delusion to me.
@@dano9008 what I'm saying is sometimes you have to grow up in Britain with British culture to get some bands, sometimes it's more than music! Appreciate your comment brother 🙂
@@dano9008 mention some bands that you think are Great.
@@olgafigueroa2909 Hello, I will just mention some English bands/acts that seem great to me and by great I mean there is some thing exceptional and unique about it in addition to its skillfullness. The Beatles with the help of George Martin for composition, Led Zeppelin in every way, David Bowie from his first album through to Scary Monsters inclusive, The Clash, The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, Graham Parker, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, The Cure, (early) Ride, maybe Catherine Wheel though great might be overstating it, PJ Harvey is great at times but I'm really more of a Rob Ellis fan (her drummer for many years), much of Arctic Monkeys, and Muse. A "some" list, not exhaustive.
@@dano9008 you listed Artic Monkeys who I think are an okay band I like them, but to say you don't like Oasis, and yet you like Artic monkeys seems pretty bizarre my guy.
Oasis is an Iconic English band most people love them like the beatles.
Most Americans don't get Oasis and that's fine by us.
Seen them live and trust me they were the greatest band of there era and maybe of all time.
This is British rock at its finest
I saw Oasis in a small club before they had even released any tunes. A few years later they headlined Knebworth.
Oasis are one of the biggest UK bands in the the last 30 years.
This track was early/Mid 90s just before they become absolutely huge in the UK.
You should Check out there iconic Songs Like Wonderwall, Don't Look back in Anger, Whatever and my favorite oasis Track ever is some might say, though it might be a bit to rocky for Brad
"Some might say" is an amazing song!
The best thing about not living forever, you get one go at this life, so make it count for something.
Oasis is a tale as old as time. Brothers with issues… they just happen to be prolific. Its raw expression good or bad. That’s life.
I can remember the exact moment I first heard this song. I had a friend in secondary school who was into lots of obscure indie bands, most of which were awful quite frankly, and then one day he brought into school a CD which happened to be Live Forever by Oasis. He played it for us at lunchtime and even a bunch of school kids like us knew we were hearing a band that was going to be big. There was something different about Oasis compared to their contemporaries, there was a brashness and confidence about them, but more importantly there were strong melodies which meant you could sing along with them. Sure enough, they became massive in the 90's and the rest, they say, is history.
Top band. One of my all time fav.
one of the greatest english pop bands
To me this song is about living life to the fullest. No holding back!
Perfect in every way!
I think this is the first time I've seen Brad come up with an insightful meaning for a song while Lex is stuck on vampires lol
Oasis my favourite band of all time. Great artists will live forever x
Love you two! 🙌🏼 Whilst you’re floating around UK bands, I’d love to one day see you react to Biffy Clyro, or Catfish and the Bottlemen. Keep it up! 🙌🏼
You should check out Some Might Say, Hindu Times., Rock and Roll Star, Don't Look Back In Anger... the list goes on and on. One of the greatest bands ever.
By 2009 they had sold 70 MILLION ALBUMS WORLD WIDE. Huge band in the day...
You should do Morning Glory, the title song of their most popular album. Heavy and high energy
React to oasis Morning Glory, Wonderwall, Aquiesce, rock and roll star, don't look back in anger, Dyou know what I mean, Supersonic, talk tonight all masterpiece tunes
That's my teenage life right there. Oasis and that iconic sound
If you lived forever, life would be hell. The fact that all of us will die gives life urgency and meaning.
What a tune
The Beatles,Mods,Great haircuts, Jangley guitars, Great clothes were just some of Oasis's things plus awesome 1st and 2nd albums which made them huge in the UK and EUROPE, America was still on the grunge thing which to people like me sounded like puck rock all over again, while the US was listening to nirvana etc... we had The Stone Roses which then led the way for Oasis and the rest of the Britpop sound which was so British it never took off in the US but for a few great years we had a sound which in the case of Oasis was of course the BEATLES the greatest band of them all, but there was so many great bands who were about at this time like Blur and lots of one hit wonders but right up to now if you wait till everyone in the pub is drunk and Oasis is on the jukebox EVERYONE WILL BURST INTO SONG.
My oldest daughter and I used to sing this song back and forth when she was little. It was sweet not creepy, I promise.😆
Oasis were MASSIVE in the 90s - iconic
Take an hour to listen to Definitely Maybe in its entirety you won't be disappointed, probably the best debut album by any band
It's funny that she mentions vampires. The first time I ever heard this song was, I think the 1995, MTV movie awards and they played it for one of the categories that Interview With A Vampire was nominated for.
My favourite of Oasis is all my people right here right now (I think it's called). It really kicks ass and you can rock out to that one. The video is good as well.
Biggest band in the world 🌎 in the 90s nobody else came close
Need some Stone Roses!
For some reason Oasis get better as I get older.
Awesome band..do more and also do their contemporaries like Blur, Verve, Catherine Wheel, Teenage Fanclub, London Suede, Travis etc
the question of living forever can be summed thusly: Are you a curious person? Would you want to see what happens tomorrow for infinity or is there a certain point where your curiousity is sated? Both Lex and I are very curious people, Brad less so. Its not a bad thing either way, just another differentiating mark of individuality. Love the vids, take care.
@Christopher Meisner lol. autocorrect ate my word satiated like a kid eating a pb&j sandwich and left the crusts, hence sated.
Best band of the early 90s.
The song was Noel’s reaction to the Nirvana song “I hate myself and I want to die” , in an interview he stated kurt had everything and was miserable, we had nothing and getting up everyday was still the greatest thing , he wasn’t having that “smackhead” coming to the uk giving the youth that message .
How about another classic from Lynyrd Skynyrd “Call me the Breeze” one of their most popular songs and a banger, with great piano and guitar solos! Lex will be dancing!
OASIS! The biggest band of the 90s. Finally! Every Oasis song is a great song.
One of my favourite Oasis songs is COLUMBIA
It's definitely top 3 for me.
I grew up on oasis from 1994 to now
Oh Boy "Live Forever" is a philosophical, (not literal) tought. She got the point.
Noel recently got asked by his mate matt (can't remember his second name) "if you could live forever would you?" And noels reply was, "I used to think that it would be great to live forever but the way the fucking world is just now I don't think I want to." By the there is a lot of great Manchester bands to listen to.
you guys have to react to Don't Go Away, or in general Be Here Now tracks
Oasis are personally my favourite band ever. He does mean live forever few music.
