They never copied the Beatles, just drew inspiration from them. Oasis were exactly what the UK needed in the 90s, they were working class lads just giving it a go, and boy did they! Its a shame Liam & Noel dont speak anymore, but we're holding out for the day they do

They never copied the Beatles? I was a big fan of Oasis in the 90s. Massive fan. It was only until 2000s when I got into the Beatles that I realized Oasis copied EVERYTHING the Beatles did at some point. Not just music, but hairstyles. Liam Gallagher wanted to be John Lennon so much, same hairdoes and beards. Even when they split, Noel Gallagher and High Flying Birds, Paul Mccartney & Wings. LMFAO Liam Gallgher seem to buy every type of glasses John Lennon wore, he even bites his teeth like Lennon when he sings, named his son Lennon.

@@Guttlegob You say they copied their hairstyles but you forget that The Who, The Kinks, The Small Faces etc all had hairstyles like that too. The Beatles don’t own that hairstyle, it’s actually a mod haircut. The only hairstyle that you could say Liam copied from Lennon is when he grew his hair out in 2000. Even then that’s silly to argue because again most rock bands grow out their hair.

You need to look more into the Beatles. They were famously into drugs for a period. Mostly pot and LSD.
As for Oasis, I’m a huge fan of “Don’t Look Back in Anger”, and I think it’s the most Beatles-like of all their songs. This was probably the band that filled the void left by Nirvana in my teenage years.
Oh, and the say no to drugs movement was strong in the 90s. Way more than now.

I wholeheartedly believe that if you’re not English, you’ll never understand how important Oasis are. The messages in their songs, especially early in their career, spoke to a whole generation of working class people, which grew into them becoming global superstars. Unless you’re English, you won’t be able to understand how incredible it is to see a group of working class lads, who always get the reputation of getting nowhere in life, grow into something so important, that even non-English speaking countries could sing their songs word for word. Oasis will always live forever

Great video! You kept on going on about The Beatles, but their other big inspiration/influence was a band called The Stone Roses. They were also from Manchester, and were massive in the UK around the late 80s/early 90s. Their self titled debut album in 1989, is often considered one of the greatest British albums of all time. It has so many hits: I Wanna Be Adored, She Bangs The Drums, Waterfall, Made Of Stone, I Am The Resurrection.
However their most famous song was a single just after the debut, called Fools Gold. You should really react to this (the full length version!). It was a club classic in its time, and it still sounds fresh today. Would be great if you could react to this

Oasis were the best band of the 90s. Noel's genius + Liam's singing + Bonehead's Rhythm Guitar = something brilliant. Also, it's actually quite a lazy opinion that Oasis copied the Beatles; they were always far more similar stylistically to The Stone Roses than they ever were the Beatles and its really only a handful of songs (Don't Look Back In Anger, Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova) that actually sound like something the Beatles could have put on an album. They just have a phenomenal catalogue of good songs and virtually every British artist today basically cites Oasis as an inspiration. Dave Grohl once said that Oasis are the best band he's ever seen and that says it all. I love the Beatles and other bands (Pink Floyd, LZ, Stone Roses etc) but none have ever touched my heart like Oasis.

Cigarettes and Alcohol isn't necessarily just about *drugs*. It's basically a commentary on the working class culture of 90s Britain. One of lines being "is it worth the aggravation to find yourself a job when there's nothing worth working for?" A lot of disillusioned youths were tired of the lack of opportunity at the time and it was about well at least we can all go out and have a good time because we have pretty much nothing else

One thing I like about oasis was sort of their overall message they had when it came to songs like live forever. They didn’t like how negative some artist were talking about suicide and all that, and thought music should be a happy thing and live forever was about just that. Not singing about hating life and wanting to end it, but instead singing about wanting to live forever

When Paul McCartney was on the Howard Stern show in late 90”s or early 2000’s, Paul said that “Oasis sounded a bit too Beatle-ly”. There is a great documentary called LIVE FOREVER about the rise and fall of Britpop in the 90’s.

Just a little piece of info, that might answer your question on the Beatles. Their song Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is rumoured to be about LSD. Lennon denied it, but if you look at the lyrics, see the video, and notice 'LSD' is actually in the song titles initials, then you'd be forgiven for thinking John wasn't being 100% honest. It was the drug of choice in they days, the 'flower power' years.

Can't see why they'd all lie(as Paul,George and Ringo all said the same )about it though ,as they all admitted to drug use. So it just seems a pointless lie,but who knows

Oasis split in 2009, Liam and Noel (brothers) were always arguing and it just came to a head. Both have released multiple solo albums each since then and all the albums are amazing. Both are certified UK music gods and defined a whole generation of people in the UK. Oasis were also HUGE in the Far East, Japan especially

They used the 2009 iTunes awards performance for slide away and it’s probably the saddest performance of that song ever. They were falling out and you can tell Liam (the singer) is angry and singing angry and Noel (guitarist) looks sad and defeated when they show him.

The most Beatles like thing about Oasis was the self promotion. The Beatles said they were bigger than Jesus to get press, Oasis said they were bigger than the Beatles to get press. As much as I prefer Oasis to the Beatles output, that example perfectly demonstrates that the Beatles beat a new path, Oasis merely aped them. Bonehead's Bank Holiday didn't exactly do what Sgt. Pepper did.

How to answer someone who says they don’t need to take drugs to elevate themselves to a higher level, they just need to go on vacation?
Going on vacation is nice, taking a trip on mushrooms is life changing
