-Our Intro Song "Feel the Love" From Alex's band
open.spotify.com/album/4Dao8y... Кино
This entire album is one banger after another. "Slide Away" is the highlight, for me
My favourite Oasis track by a mile 👍🏻
Noel met Paul McCartney at a party, Paul told Noel he liked "Slide Away." Paul didn't mention any other songs, that tells you something.
@@lubilou64 or Rock and Roll Star
Cigarettes and alcohol is the highlight for me but I love the album so much
Banging tune!
Noel Gallagher has a great knack for turning every song into an anthem.
Seriously, you just HAVE to listen to Champagne Supernova. In my eyes it's the best song they ever wrote, it oozes epicness, an absolutely incredible track. And I am saying this knowing their whole catalogue (and liking huge parts of it).
Absolutely
Champagne Supernova. That's *the* iconic Oasis to listen to.
Columbia is better. Raw
I agree so many elements in that song would be a good one
It’s probably one of the most epic song ever. It’s psychedelic madness, a wall of sound, the solo is a trip on its own.
Off to a great start for '23 guys! "Don't Look Back in Anger" is perhaps Oasis' most influential/best song, "Acquiesce" is pure heat, and writer/guitarist Noel Gallagher vocals on "Half the World Away" and "Talk Tonight" are wistful bliss.
The first track on the first Oasis album is Rock and Roll Star, which tells you all you need to know about Oasis. Confidence and swagger off the charts.
They are good but a little too much confidence. Noel Gallagher was quoted in an interview saying Oasis is bigger than the Beatles. He later recanted that remark and said he must have been high and doesn't remember saying that. High would be an understatement.
@@HamiltonRb yea.. was waiting for a remark like this. Leave it out.
@@swaggrrman7326 Quotes from public people, good or bad, are open to discussion.
@@HamiltonRb Remember when John Lennon said the beatles were bigger than Jesus? I think Noel definitely (maybe?), had this in mind and was just fucking with everybody
Remember reading Noel or Liam saying when they played Rock and Roll Star at their earliest tiny little gigs, audiences thought they were crazy -- "Oasis was just a stupid little band, what's this "stars" shite?"
"Supersonic". Their first album is a classic.
The first two albums are classics.
@@tristramcoffin926 the first three albums (4 if you count masterplan) are classics
Be Here Now is severely underrated. I would give the first two albums a solid 10. BHN is a solid 8 despite the coca cola binge.
@@redsballer1904I roll Masterplan into Whats The Story, Morning Glory? as most of the tracks were added to the deluxe version. I agree though, the first three albums are fantastic. Be Here Now doesn’t get the same love, and it’s not quite as good as WTS,MG?, but it’s still amazing. I’d even put it over Definitely, Maybe although I know that’s a controversial opinion.
@@allbottledup9513me too, I honestly prefer be here now to Definitely maybe
In the 90s everyone was writing gloomy songs about death. This was their response. They wanted to write a song about living forever instead and nailed it.
One thing I appreciate now about Oasis is they had so many positive messages in their songs
You would like Supergrass. Same upbeat energy on their first three albums
This was towards Nirvana and their song "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die" from what i heard. There's a cool thing about the 90s rock which is the first half is where grunge came along and it usually had a depressing vibe, and on the second half britpop came along and it became almost a haze of happiness. It was a decade of contrasts which was cool, but i think every decade has that to an extent, for example synthpop and goth in the 80s, disco and punk in the 70s, pop rock and emo in the 00s etc. There's always two sides, and oasis was almost the opposite of Nirvana, but Noel still respected them which was cool. So this song is almost like a tribute more than a call out or a diss.
Excellent comparison and contrast critique of the musical trends of that time.
Grunge = affected existential angst on heroin.
Brit Pop = euphoric exuberance on ecstasy.
I know which I preferred.
Champagne Supernova is transcendent. And The Modfather Paul Weller plays guitar on it, which takes it up a notch.
I love Oasis. These guys are funny and brilliant in interviews too. Let there be love is one of my absolute favorites.
ALEX!! Considering the album title is "Definitely Maybe", you have to give it to them for branding! LOL!! I had zero expectations for 2023, but I've already heard "Anarchy in the UK" and "Live Forever" on the channel, and I'm pumped! Thanks!!!! Of course you've heard 'Wonderwall", but if you haven't heard "Champagne Supernova" that's a must, and "Supersonic".
I seen Oasis live in the day and as they play the last part of "gonna live forever"they flashed pictures of John Lennon, and all the late great music people who had passed. It was very powerfull
Available on RUclips Oasis - Live Forever (live) 1996. Brilliant version and their live opus
I feel like Oasis sortof redefined the “Wall of Sound”. So much going on sonically in most of their songs.
Wall of sound pretty much describes this whole album. One of my favourite albums ever
My favourite from oasis is headshrinker. It's about as punk rock as oasis ever got.
You'll love it.
You guys should definitely react to their first single "Supersonic"!
Next song, "Don't Look Back In Anger", please!!
Wish I could like this comment more than once!
1000%
YES!
What Susan said ^^^
They're best in my opinion 👍
Refreshing hearing these guys! Love the Beatles influence and how they embrace it.
Don't Look Back In Anger is my favorite Oasis tune
Same
Oasis doing Gas Panic in the Rock in Rio 2001 concert is brilliant and noel's guitar at the end is mind blowing.
You guys are on a streak of cool songs lately.
I don't know if you lads have checked out The Stone Roses yet. They're an absolute must.
They did Good Times on a stream and really enjoyed it, strong agree on checking out more.
Driving South would be my vote for the mental guitar throughout
They need to do the first Stone Roses as an full-album reaction -- only way to really get their music
@@alexjbennett1017 I have a big soft spot for the second album, but agree the first is better as a complete whole.
Do a few tasty bangers from the second one then the whole 1st as an album reaction is the way to go
Liam Gallagher says he was more gutted than the members of the Roses were when they broke up.
Oasis changed the perspective of the 90’s grunge era. Live forever changed everything! This song has marked so many people. Next Oasis song has to be Champagne Supernova, it’ll blow your minds!
The most influential British band in the last 30 years! The Gallagher's still draw in young crowds to this day!
Look at the album name guys. They can definitely say maybe more than any other band in existence.
My youth! My anthem!
The lyrics and theme of this song is just so good, let alone how good the guitar is, good reaction guys liked the breakdown
Charlitans (UK) "The Only One I Know". Another Brit Pop banger from the early 90s.
Love them. Between 10th and 11th is an incredible album.
I love Oasis! I would really love to see some Blur on the channel!
She’s So High, There’s No Other Way, Popscene, Girls & Boys, To The End
Tender, Coffee & TV , Tracy Jacks, End of a Century, Parkside, This is a Low, Beetlejuice, I'm just a Killer for your Love, Strange News from Another Star, Mr. Robinsons Quango.
Just so many!
"Beetlebum" and "Chemical World" and "There's No Other Way" are essential Blur songs.
Love Oasis, love Blur. Those guys together were awesome! Long live Britpop!
I remember watching Oasis at Poole Lighthouse in 2004. It was their first gig for 15 months and I was at uni in Bournemouth. We had to camp on the street overnight on the Friday in the ticket queue and my final exams started on the Monday! The gig was a fab end for our uni gang. Ringo Starr was watching from the balcony.
This is one of my favorite Oasis songs. Their first hit. The entire album What's the Story Morning Glory is beyond compare. Every song is a classic.
This was after my time, and it strikes me as a B. "The Freshman" from Verve Pipe is one of the few treasures of the 90's that I would put on replay.
Seriously? The Verve Pipe were decent but there is no real comparison here. Try again.
I did not get the whole Oasis thing in the mid-90's where they are selling out Wembley Stadium for consecutive nights. My favorite song of theirs is "Up In The Sky" off their debut. "Champagne Supernova" and "Don't Look Back In Anger" are really good.
If you're going into this general area of music, you've really got to listen to the Stone Roses. "I Am The Resurrection," "She Bangs The Drums," "Waterfall," "Made of Stone," pretty much every song on their debut album.
Couldn’t agree more re The Stone Roses. That album is perfection.
They need to do the first Stone Roses as an full-album reaction -- only way to really get their music
@@alexjbennett1017 Good point. Wonder what they would make of the long intro to "I Wanna Be Adored." (And should that listen include "Fools Gold?" I say yes, but I picked up the album when it was added.)
@@chrisdelisle3954 exactly on both points! the album shows their entire personality, be it quirks or genius, and maps out a unique specific vision of rock
Now you're onto 90's indie, please dip into Wales' finest, The Manic Street Preachers. "Motorcycle Emptiness" would be a great starting point.
One of my favorite bands. I saw them live in Orlando FL and they didn’t disappoint. However I didn’t think I was going to be able to see them. They initially broke up, but got back together and rescheduled the show.
This whole album is incredible. I highly recommend Columbia and Bring It On Down
Love Liam's vocals, a combination of John Lennon's nasal tone and the Sex Pistols, Johnny Rotten's snear!
Sarcasm?
@@jimd7260 A spot on description actually.
well said. Swagger power!
I’d love to hear that guitar solo for the first time again. It’s a thing of absolute beauty
These are some of the very best Oasis songs that you haven't reacted to yet ...
Oasis - Morning Glory
Oasis - Supersonic
Oasis - Slide Away
Oasis - (It's Good) To Be Free
Oasis - Roll With It
Oasis - Acquiesce
Oasis - Hello
Oasis - Whatever
Oasis - The Masterplan
Oasis - Some Might Say
Oasis - Rock 'n' Roll Star
Oasis - Cast No Shadow
Listen Up, Talk Tonight, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Dya Know What I Mean, My Big Mouth etc etc too
Gas Panic! is one of my all time favorites from them.
@@FocusJones ^a very underrated song!
I have to throw some love out to D'Ya Know What I Mean and Dirty Shirt, which I believe are in need of re-evaluation. Don't Look Back in Anger, Masterplan, and Champagne Supernova are the ones that really touch my soul.
Whatever !!
Oasis did have a knack for turning pretty pedantic verses into soaring choruses. I mean what drunk 20 something wouldn't be shouting "LIVE FOREVERRRRRRRR" every single time this came on.
This song always gives me chills. Makes me want to go back to 19 and do it all the ver again.
I’m 20 and I just discovered them. Wondering what I was doing before tbh 😅
Here's an observation I've noticed over the years... you guys always vibe to a different beat. Andy always has kinda has a mellowing groove going, and Alex is always be-bopping at a quicker clip 🤔 interesting how music permeates our souls differently. 🤘
Lol. There was a video last month, I forget which song, where I almost posted a comment like "Andy grooving in quarter notes, Alex in eighth notes."
@@bigsby1 lol🤣 it's soo true
0:57 Everyone knows Wonderwall, Don’t look Back In Anger and many know this one and Champagne Supernova. But Supersonic, Some Might Say, The Masterplan, Talk Tonight, Acquiesce, Cast No Shadow, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Morning Glory, Listen Up, Rock n Roll Star, Slide Away, My Big Mouth and many more are also brilliant! 👍
and Gas Panic!!
@@FocusJones true, especially live at Wembley 2000
Champagne Supernova is a given, it’s the best off Morning Glory And a great song In general you guys would love it. Oasis were a great band, and they still are today.
Yes to more Britpop, especially Blur, Pulp, and Suede!
SUEDE!!!! Yes!
One of my favs who never really broke big here are the Charlatans UK. Some really cool stuff.
Suede! I was a dj in college and I swear I played Metal Mickey nonstop until the programming director asked me to stop.
Same story with Pavement.
This live at Maine Road 2nd night is incredible fellas!
Definitely check it out
Hey A&A! I love Oasis, I love this song, and I was very curious to see how you guys would react to it. I'm so glad you loved it. Oasis is very much the sum of their influences, and yet they still managed to be their own thing. I'm glad I got to see them play at MSG on their last tour before the brothers finally busted it all up for good.
The Maybe is like a trademark. You will also pick up on Liam's "Sunshiiiiine" the more you listen to them.
Love Oasis. Supersonic, RocknRoll Star, so many more
Thank you. Still my favorite song by them 🙌
Sex Pistols, Oasis? Loving the new direction in this new year. Keep it going!: Stone Roses (She Bangs the Drums), Charlatans UK (The Only One I Know), Ride (Sennen), Happy Mondays (Step On), Blur (There’s No Other Way), James, The Farm, more Pistols (God Save the Queen, EMI), Fugazi (Waiting Room), Pail Head (I Will Refuse), REM (Radio Free Europe), Romeo Void (Never Say Never), Yaz, No Use For a Name (Soulmate), Beastie Boys (Sure Shot), Suicidal Tendencies (Possessed to Skate), Stray Cats (Runaway Boys), The Tubes (Talk to Ya Later), Save Ferris (Mistaken), Jesus and Mary Chain (Blues From a Gun), Wolfgang Press (Louis XIV), Front 242 (Headhunter), Nitzer Ebb (Let Your Body Learn), and on and on…
More Britpop! but let's not forget Supergrass...just not 'Alright' plz, lol. 'Moving' would be a good choice IMO
Great list!
@@jayhpaq , thx, if only they would follow it and more, they would save a ton of time trying the find the really good stuff from about the mid-70’s on. A lot of it didn’t get much if any radio play here in the States. You had to try to memorize what the DJ told you while you were wasted, lol, or catch the cool late night radio show like Club X on XRT in Chicago, or stumble into a great warm-up band, or just take a flyer on a 12” single or CD. Was a labor of love for me, tho! I mean, how were you supposed to hear Devil Bunnies by My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, or Don’t Have the Time by MC Buzz B?
@@privatename123 Agreed. I like you have collected this music and many others genres for a very kong time.
Unfortunately (?) for A&A, they are running a successful RUclips channel and polls rule here. Though there are many well informed music fans here, there is an equal number of narrow-minded people with limited musical knowledge which sometimes leads A&A down less than desirable paths. Overall they have done an excellent job with what they have to work with though.
As much as I love your effort and enthusiasm I don't think that they'd ever do any EBM stuff like Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb. It was hard enough for Alex to admit that the 80s were not all just about synths and that there's stuff that he liked. Suggesting bands whose music is made without any analog instruments and solely with synths and computers would give Alex the shock of a lifetime. At least if he would jump right into it without finding any appreciation for this kind of music before. This is why I suggested to try out Kraftwerk some weeks ago, because they were kind of the predecessors of all those electronic bands. You know, you need to lead them slowly on their path and not let them jump into the water without telling them how to swim. It's like when someone has never heard a metal song before and one would suggest to listen to Slayer. That would be counterproductive and scare most people off.
Y’all are chill. Respect
Love that we're getting two monthly album reactions on the Patreon. A little sad to see the movie reactions go (at least for now), but there are so many great albums out there.
They should do a separate movie channel.
About time lads 🍻
This is the quintessential Oasis song. Noel says he wasted years trying to write another “Live Forever” and agonised over his inability to do so. It was one of those moments of inspiration where he wrote it very quickly and presented it to the band. Bonehead refused to believe he’d written it because it was far too good!
so funny i was listening to this CD in my car yesterday, yes the same CD I bought in the '90s and was wondering when you were going to hit Oasis, so many other great songs from the early years..
The song Morning Glory is actually underrated as an absolute whirlwind of a banger from their album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
The outro totally makes this song. Love it!
Great lyrics and an irrépressible force-of-nature vocal. BTW - The album is called "Definitely Maybe".
I didn't catch Oasis when I was young enough to love them, but this tune has a nice feel. Don't care for the personalities of the Gallaghers all that much, but can't give this less than an *A* right now.
I was at this one. Just watching this video now made me goosebump right up ruclips.net/video/_8pKdz4ZPMo/видео.html
Liam turned out to be quite a great lad....Noel not so much....
Met Liam a couple of years ago. He was an absolute gentlemen, completely different to what he was like in the 90’s-2000’s
These guys sound so much better live. It's like a wall of sound, and so much more powerful than the studio work.
D'ya know what I mean is over 7 minutes of pure bliss!! And also Morning Glory are both bangers!!
I'm 59 an absolutely love Oasis. Thank u, daughter xxx
I remember when I first heard that song and they band, one summer night in 1994. It changed my life.
Love songs like this that rock but also give the feels
An unbelievable back catalogue! Go listen to all of it!!!!
One cannot deny, Oasis were what the 90s needed. Along with Pulp and Blur and all the outdoor coat-indoors lot, they kicked the likes of Inner Circle and Ace Of Base back where they belong.
The first time I heard Live Forever play on the radio, i had almost violent goosebumps run all over me. I still get goosebumps when I hear this almost 30 years later.
Love the intro to this song, soft cymbals. It is easy to hear so many other bands within their music. Very "in the 90's pocket" sound on this song, dragged in some places. Great guitar, would have liked to hear some dramatic drum fills but overall, a great song.
BTW get to the Jam already !!!!
Pink Floyd actually has *3* songs with "brick in the wall" in the lyrics. "Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2" was the big hit, but Pts 1 and 3 are also worthwhile.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING A&A FAMILY!!!!
If you're digging into 90s British bands you absolutely have to do Radiohead. Try Paranoid Android or just do all of OK Computer as a full album reaction. I guarantee it will blow your minds.
Seriously consider OK Computer for a whole album hit.
THIS!
Agreed totally. Best album of that decade and far beyond. Soars like Floyd at their best but for the newer generations
As incredible as “OK Computer” is, it has unfortunately obscured how great “The Bends” is. I love both albums, but I’d argue “The Bends” is more accessible, especially on a first listen, so Alex & Andy should start there, maybe with “(Nice Dream),” “Just,” or the title track.
My (not yet at the time) wife and I saw Radiohead at an outdoor concert in the late 2000s (I think 2008) in torrential rain. We got there early, but the roads washed out and the dirt parking lots flooded, so people were still arriving more than an hour into the show. It didn’t matter if you were under the roof; you were getting soaked.. Even the stage was hit by sheets of rain. About 2 hours in, Thom Yorke stopped the show to thank everyone for coming out, and said that the band appreciated it so much they were going to play a song they hadn’t played in concert in many years. When the first notes of “Fake Plastic Trees” rang out, the crowd erupted.
When we got back to our car, we managed to move forward about 3/4 of a car-length and then didn’t budge an inch for more than 90 minutes. We were only about 25 minutes from home but didn’t make it back until after 2:00. It was worth it.
Ah yes, The Bends is also great. I saw them on a Friday in a small Glasgow venue of no more than about 1,000 people and it was fantastic. I bought the Bends on the Monday and played it non stop. 2 years or so later I saw them again on the main Glastonbury stage and that's now regarded as a Glasto classic gig so yes, I highly recommend both albums.
my favorite tune of theirs
My favorite of theirs is "Don't Look Back in Anger", one of the best choruses
It's a very good Wednesday track I think. Great breakdown y'all. Cheers Gents🤘🏼🥃🤘🏼🥃
The first banger I heard from them is Supersonic and been hooked since.
Oasis was an incredible band. Liam’s voice is so “vibey”. Noel could bang out one hit after another. The whole Def Maybe album is great. Wall of sound!
Love to see you guys do the Stone Roses
Noel wrote this song after nivarna came to the UK and sang I hate myself and I wanna die, he said "fuck that, can't have people coming over here spreading that message" iconic.
I'm a teenage boy and even though I'm so young, i grew up listening to a lot of music from the 90s and this band has a lot of good songs, the first three albums are full of good songs and i'm surprised that nowadays many have never heard one of their songs, no have any idea of its existence or that you don't like it and just like the reaction to this song, a reaction to the full album by both of you would be cool!
8:24 I know the other parts don't really have choruses, but I still love that Alex's choice here is from a song called "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2"
one of my fav albums ever...has it been that long ago?
What a great run of songs they had. Check out “Acquiesce” at some point. Banger for sure.
Dig into the entire Madchester scene please. So many great bands. Keep enjoying guys ✌️
I was a kid when this came out. Everyone who professed to be cool were into their grunge and U2 and whatever else. Me , I was into the Beatles and in my town there were about 3 of us and if we met someone else into them it was like a spiritual meeting of hearts and minds. When this song came out we felt like it was written for us . The people that new that The Beatles were a force that transcended music had a thumbs up from a current band that channeled that Beatle energy.
The final guitar solo, switching octaves back and forth, is like the final solo in "Comfortably Numb"
lol I also noticed the "MAYYYBEEEEEE." This one came first though, so the one to knock for that is Wonderwall.
About time
Hats off to you guys, finally doing some more Oasis!! They have so many anthemic masterpieces. The power of their music just envelopes and inspires you. Its that Manchester Northern sound. Nobody quite like them. You really need to do some
Stone Roses, they willl blow you away.
Try: "Tears", " Love Spreads"
" I wanna be adored"
Slide Away is on this album. Love that soong
A & A, your next Oasis song just has to be Slide Away. Utterly wonderful. In fact make it your next video, I'm not prepared to wait.
100%
best band in the world without a doubt with the two greatest musicians of all time. love the gallagher brothers.
I love the What's the story? (Morning glory) record, Champagne Supernova is a classic. Wonderwall is overplayed for sure but I have a soft spot for that tune. Very nostalgic.
you guys should really consider reacting to this entire album - Definitely Maybe - released in 1994. It is their debut album and kicked off the whole Britpop scene that dominated the UK in the mid to late 90s. It's a fantastic album from start to finish!
Definately Maybe changed my life. "Bring It On Down" is a huge kick in the bollocks.
Their best album, what a debut!
I adore Oasis. Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Whatever, The Masterplan, Let There Be Love, Cast No Shadow, All Around the World, Half the World Away, Stand By Me, Supersonic, The Importance of Being Idle, She's Electric, Some Might Say, Going Nowhere and many others are absolute gold. I'm American and even I'd say their music is biblical lol
about time
"Wonderwall" by them was one of my favorite songs of the '90s. I think you'd like "Don't Look Back in Anger" as well. The Gallagher brothers made great music for a while... ashame they stayed at each other's throat. One of the all-time great toxic family relationships.
This was the song that got me into Oasis
They were so unapologetically British hence the mayyybaaaa…the songwriting is so good, production so layered and tasteful. Proof you don’t have to play a million notes to be a great guitar player, just play the right notes ❤️😎
Northern English***
British is a very diverse group of people's, accents and dialects
The original British were Welsh and Cornish Celts lest we forget
What's british about maybe?? They only did it on two songs.
Happy to agree with other comments: kicking off 2023 with "Anarchy in the U.K." and "Live Forever" is epic! Please continue your tour of 90's bands with ripping guitars, beginning with Smashing Pumpkins "Cherub Rock" (a true ass-kicker) followed by "Love Spreads" from a band that inspired Oasis, The Stone Roses. Also, more Oasis please: "Champagne Supernova", "D'You Know What I Mean?", "Go Let It Out", "A Bell Will Ring" and "Lord Don't Slow Me Down".
