Thom yorke and Jonny greenwood are just amazing. One of the best musical collaborations of all time… so glad they’ve retained such a close creative relationship over the decades.
Thom sounds great! I actually love the little imperfections in his voice, and his vibrato lends some sophistication to the song. A unique voice and still going strong even as he gets older
This song is so beautiful. The whimsical piano reminds me of the Vince Guaraldi score to the Peanuts specials, and I mean that as a high form of praise.
I saw them play this live in Brighton last week and this particular song has been haunting me since. Im not even sure why. This entire show with the Orchestra is epic and worth paying my BBC licence for.
One of the best live performances of any Thom Yorke related outfit ever. Soooo beautiful. Inventive. Almost a touch of knowing absurdity like early Sufjan Stevens. But with these big earnest terrifying portions contrasted against it. Brilliant.
Thom, You really nailed this one. You still are getting better at picking the most amazing chord progressions, interesting cadence, the vibe builds. Were not worthy!
I don't know where you could get those vibes from as this is The Smile headed by Thom Yorke and not Radiohead smiled by Thom Yorke, they may look and sound the same but they are not I assure you. Different people.
@@phillemon7664 he's saying the satisfaction is similar. as in, that this is something perfectly transcendent, i imagine. he's not saying 'it sounds like OK Computer by radiohead', even though, in fact i think there are certain call-backs which thom and johnny haven't explored since then. certain piano motifs and dynamics are actually quite similar.
This song is absolutely brilliant. They're incredible live. I was in awe. But also - I just need one more Radiohead tour. It will be a seriously difficult "tick" to miss off my bucket list if I don't get the chance.
Skinner is shaky. Get Phil pronto! In all honesty, Tom Skinner sounds amazing! Thom Yorke sounds like he’s 30 tops. Jonny might be the greatest musician in the world in my opinion. Cheers to just hoping Thom and Jonny continue to make music for at least another 10 to 20 years! But, please get Radiohead back together !!! ❤❤❤
This is the six music festival, so they are there to see all kinds of performers. However listening to 6music means they will be lovers of music so don't worry it isn't wasted.
@@jamesstevens6653 Good for you, people are different. I love the massiveness and inovatiobe details in Radiohead, and yes I have also seen them live three times.
It’s objectively an incredibly complex piece of music being played by three very talented gentlemen and therefore subjectively absolutely bloody brilliant.
One of the best songs of the year so far
No doubt, by far.🎉😢😮😅😊
Teleharmonic side by side.
Thom yorke and Jonny greenwood are just amazing. One of the best musical collaborations of all time… so glad they’ve retained such a close creative relationship over the decades.
Luckily they met!
Such an unusual, fascinating tempo. Build and dissolve, build and dissolve.
Actually all they are doing is alternating from 5/4 time to 6/4 time and slightly altering the tempo. That is what gives it that feeling. Pretty cool.
@@electricwhiterabbitit’s defo 5/4 but i can’t hear the 6/4
@@supsup. @Max _: It’s 7 bars of 5/4 then a bar of 6/4. The slow section is 3 bars of 9/8 then a bar of 8/8
I think it'll be closer to 15/8, with a 9/8 from time to time. You can hear the three eight notes, even on the 5 beats.
One of the most beautiful song i've ever heard
Thom Yorke is a gift
As is Jonny greenwood.
Thom sounds great! I actually love the little imperfections in his voice, and his vibrato lends some sophistication to the song. A unique voice and still going strong even as he gets older
One of the best things theyve ever done, but ive said that about 100 of his tracks at this point. Pure genius.
Agree. There is three of them tho.
I just feel like 1994 Thom Yorke would be so proud of 2024 Thom Yorke
I love this idea and I hope you are right. He deserves to be so proud of where he ended up musically.
I'd love to know if 94 Thom would actually enjoy 24 Thomas music or not
The opponening vocal melody is so catchy, been stuck in my head for months
truly an earsandworm of an oppenheimening vocal malady
This entire set was godly. Unreal.
There's something The Beatles-like about this song, "all the window balconies..." part. Beautiful piece.
I love that part .
Fernando Pessoa. A poem called Tabacaria!
I can really imagine Paul McCartney singing it!
Totally!
Thoms voice is bad.
One of the greatest musical experiences of my life.
I need more😢😢I’m not from the U.K can’t watch the whole thing. Seeing them with orchestra is just amazing. Please upload more BBC
gimme ur email. i may have a gift for u concerning the smile...
I have the full set 😮
Gorgeous melancholic sounds. Can't go wrong with Thom.
This song is so beautiful. The whimsical piano reminds me of the Vince Guaraldi score to the Peanuts specials, and I mean that as a high form of praise.
Agree, good ears 👍
thats high praise( nick cage voice)
I actually thought of peanuts. I thought Johnny looked like one of the characters hunched over a piano.
These men.... beautiful.
The intense strings at the song's end is wonderful! Just like... wherever you are, hold on whatever you can
This song has really grown on me since release.
The whole album is such a grower!
@@educostanzo same 🤠
I watched this last night and it was stunning.
I have to say that Gossip and Young Fathers were amazing too.
Love this song. Reminds me of Robert Wyatt.

The string arrangements. Jonny, you *can* sing.
Thom and the Thominators. Amazing!
Legends!
Awesome tune
Me pusieron la piel de gallina... impresionantes!

The « a day in the life » of The Smile.
You see that almost-smile by Jonny at the very end of the video? Says it all…
maybe thats the idea behind the name. The (almost) Smile
Thom, You really nailed this one. You still are getting better at picking the most amazing chord progressions, interesting cadence, the vibe builds. Were not worthy!
Absurdamente genial!
Great job on this live performance guys!
Reminds me Dave Brubeck's Time Out so well....
Gig of the year ! Got m'y ticket to see them in Bordeaux this summer... Can't wait !
praying for an american tour! Come back to Seattle!!
the best
🙌🐐
One of the best songs I’ve heard in a very long time🎉
Radiohead Needs to Play live tour AMSP like this with a full orchestra would be life changing.
Are you sure? Because the entire audience would probably explode from how awesome it would be, and I don’t think anyone wants that
@@jackthesmoltangerine😭😭😭

I NEEEED them to come back as Radiohead oneday. I need to see them live
Thom Folds Five
Was at the Glasgow gig on Wednesday. Fantastic
I love this song so much ❤
So good.
Genius
fantastic performance
Masters!
Gonna go out on a limb - but these whole thing is giving me OK Computer satisfaction vibes

I think many influencers of jazz in his second album. For me is more better the first album of the smile.
...uau.
A bit of Amnesiac vibes
Channeling some Jeff Buckley in his vocals
That drummer is fire, what's his name?
Tom Skinner compilation
fucking nice
Thought i saw jerry centrall
its me or is this faster than studio version?
why the sound is alway so dull on BBC)
I miss radiohead😢😢
Even more Radiohead than Radiohead. ❤🔥
is this pyramid song 2?
Pyramid song remix?

That's Pyramid Song but the number 2
the fans seem to be hardly interested at all. what a shame to waste it on non fans
If you ask me, they’re all in a trance. It was actually refreshing to see everyone focused on the band and not through cellphone screens.

Sigh, this makes me miss Radiohead so much. This sounds like a cheep version of the brilliance it could me.

what the hell is this
It's called a band. People play instruments and make music. This video is said band playing music in a live setting with an audience. Hope this helps!
Sounds awful
Thom Yorke is getting old. Normal things for a human being.
This is subjectively very dull.

@threebedrooms1076 I've said sorry. Think its time you let it go x
Great song but I wish the mixing was better 😢
i love thom yorke voice but here sound bad , idk what happen to him its like he not trying at all
When are they playing Israel? What a disappointment Yorke and Greenweeod turned out to be.
You know Jonny Greenwood is married to an Israeli? Maybe things aren’t always as simplistic as people would like them to be.
@barnabywoodlouse9204 so what? And yes of course I know.
@barnabywoodlouse9204 and things are that simple. If you wouldn't play apartheid South Africa then don't play Apartheid Israel.
