That rifle looks like a beast. I actually really like the polished metal on blackened metal look, and that distinctive riveted safety lever modification. It gives the rifle a very aggressive look. I've been dreaming of a monolithic rail on an AK for a while, but I've always imagined a left side charging handle.
Its badass, and no doubt Arex is a sharp company, but the question I pose, is why are we continuing to upgrade a 70 year old design? This upgrade got rid of so many of the AK's problems, but there are still some left, primarily the round and the magazine, and lack of recoil system. Lets face it, The AK is the more cost effective platform, and the Russians cut a lot of cost with an easy to mass produce stamped receiver, and cheap ammo. The AK is putting up a tremendous fight with it's reliability and popularity, but you can only put so many spoilers on a Honda Civic, ya know?
the ak isn't bad in recoil, and round is not limited, realistically 5.56 isn't a 500 yard rifle. And why companies are improving the AK is because of the reliability.

chichimilker Rail system means you will put more stuffs and weight on the rifle. If it is not at least somewhat lightweight when naked, then it is not a great design in my book. Especially if you consider the fact that AK-12 is actually lighter than AK-74M(according to Wikipedia)
I'm back. After watching more I can see that the weapon gets into harmonic balance and it settles level for the whole burst. I've never seen that except on an FN FAL... awesome. No wonder you are pumped. An auto fun weapon that doesn't fight the shooter.

This rifle would be awesome if it was multi-caliber. Just a change of bolt, barrel and ejector. Then you have a rifle that could conceivably shoot the 7.63x39 AK round, 5.56 NATO, .300 Blackout, 6.8 SPC, 6.5 Grendel or the .223 Wylde cartridge. This way you can have sales everywhere in the world.

Yes, the monolithic upper rail / dust cover is the main seller feature, but wow..the quick fieldstrip is more practical than with Galil / Valmet rifle, just pust that 2 push-pin, and it's separated so easily. No thumb-wrestling with the AK dust cover button and gas block locking lever. ^^

Definitely exciting. I'm glad they're sticking to the original AK design/mechanical reliability but updating the ergonomics and shoot-ability.
Suggestions: milled receiver, thicker barrel, night sights, and various stock options.
