Yea, most likely doyo makes LEWS. My lews super duty 300 is made in Korea and very similar to doyo model. I lived in Korea and most of Korean reels are saltwater ready. I bought their doyo rod and it sucked. Some are made in China, so watch out for those. In Korea, you get what you pay for.
Hey Nick, I'm also Korean living in the States and I'm a subscriber of your channel! This reel is super popular in S.Korea for both salt water and fresh water fishing. I would say Liger with their super shallow spool might be a good choice if you are looking for another reel that can throw what 15 Aldebaran does. When it comes to "super" BFS applications like mainly throwing < 3.5g lures, I would rather go with 16 Aldebaran, Steez Air or all new Alphas Air. While I was stationed in Seoul, ROK back in ‘17 I found a tackle shop and was lucky to befriend one of the workers there. He recommended me the Doyo Urano G2 and it is still one of my go to reels. The rod I bough to match it, was great but ended up snapping in 3 places fighting a log lol.
Doyo's reels are sold here in Brazil by a trademark called Marine Sports, altought I would choose a JDM Daiwa or Shimano anytime, their best reels are quite popular in here, they have a more affordable price, they might not be the greatest reels out there, but for their price they are worth it. I guess that the main thing that I dislike in most of those korean reels is the "carbon fiber" (edit.: That I actually forgot to mention, they talk about it as if the material would be carbon fiber, but they only mention "carbon" frame, since it is not carbon fiber indeed, probably to fool most fishermen making them to believe that it is actually carbon fiber) frame wich I don't quite trust in them, specialy for the fact that in most of them the screws are fixed directly to the reels' frame, instead of having a bolt and a bushing for it to be bolted, also for the fact that the carbon frame isn't as solid as a aluminium one.

While you can make a spool weight look better with an aluminum shaft (at a cost in wear life and rigidity), the shaft weight doesn’t contribute much to castability - it doesn’t contribute notably to the spool’s moment of inertia, it’s true resistance to rotation, as it’s too close to the axis of rotation. That being said the general shape and physics of that spool seem awesome, looking forward to cast test results!

This is one of the Marine Sports line, made by Doyo in South Korea, the same manufacturer as Lews, some Abu Garcia and other brands. Doyo makes interesting reels for specific uses.

This guy's channel basically just revolves around thinking reels made for foreign markets are better then USDM reels. Mostly since they are harder to get. There is not much more depth than that from this guy.

There is no way you can objectively say that reels of an equal spec made for Japan are better than ones made for the USA or Korean or any other market. Just because things are harder to get doesn't mean they are better, end of story. Especially for general bass fishing, you don't need an Antares to catch fish and it doesn't provide any major advantage. It's better to have a reel that you can beat on and not worry about damaging. The only place foreign markets have an advantage in are with BFS reels. Even with that, China has reels that are performing better and better year after year for hundreds cheaper. It will only be a matter of time that the buzz from Chinese bfs will make companies sell them domestically in the USA.
@@RockyPondProductions Your observation skills are lacking and you obviously havent been to the JDM websites for Shimano, Daiwa, Abu Garcia, or the KDM websites for Doyo and Banax.
The shallow spool cost 70,000 won (about $65) without shipping. It's called: 라이거 30 슈퍼 셸로우 스풀. However you will need to ask a Korean to post it, as none of the online shops will do so. I do have friends in Korea who can post if for you (they are owners of a fishing shop in Andong, Korea) but it won't be cheap, depending on what type of packaging and insurance you would like to use. Hopefully a Korean follower will see this and be of more help. Good luck!
I’m anxious to see the field tests and casting distance. As a Shimano fanboy, I’d be interested to see the casting distance (lipless crank test) of the Lews custom pro SLP or pro-ti SLP compared to some high end Shimano reels. I am tired of the Lews craze in my area, but am open to some hard data on their higher end reels to see if it’s justified.
Basically most Pure Fishing brands have Korean affiliates. I had a chance to live and buy up a lot of Korean designed or made abu Garcia, doyo, and others that make reels and export... Koreans are all about saltwater, lite reel, and power for light and multi jigging. I’ve seems daiwa that’s exclusive in Korea as well. A lot of Korean fishermen are involved in field testing and we are talking about folks that fishing deep sea son daily basis.

They sell the spools here. I think the Super shallow one is about $60+$70. Let me know if you want me to look into getting a spool for you. The standard version is listed at 140g here. I know the Liger 30 is available with multiple handle options and surprisingly many of the handles are power handles because it's used for light saltwater jigging.

@Cheezus Crust the deep spool weight is under 9 grams. There is a possibility to throw light lure if the spools weight with full line in less than 12 grams.
You should put against the chronarch as well $280 vs $280. maybe the ike revo it was $250 when it came out. Im thinking buying the lews pro sp speed spool. Its supposed be a "good" skipping, flipping/pitching reel. 32mm shollow spool, t/yrd 20/40. It only has 6+1 bearings tho. that dont sound to good when some of the $200 and below have 10 bearings.

FYI a lot of companies will make products similar to other company products. A lot of these companies go bankrupt because they violate trademark and copyright. For instance putting a golf brand logo on the side may not be the best move for these guys lol. Its like selling a Porsche butt with cheaper components and a different logo.

They also make some higher priced products with aluminum or magnesium body, which are considered by many Korean guys to be as good as any JDM reels.

Use the ceramic bearing on the deep spool and it could be a bfs reel with full line in.

Keeping track of what line is on what reel? A piece of masking tape under the reel foot with the info on it.

Take the 5 longest casting reels regukar size reels and test them casting the lightest weights like a 1/8th ounce rapala

FYI a lot of companies will make products similar to other company products. A lot of these companies go bankrupt because they violate trademark and copyright. For instance putting a golf brand logo on the side may not be the best move for these guys lol. Its like selling a Porsche butt with cheaper components and a different logo.
