Ninghan Station is located north of the Wheatbelt in Western Australia, just south of Paynes Find.
I'd never visited the station before, so this was an excellent opportunity to explore an unfamiliar part of WA. I wasn't sure what there would be to photograph, but I packed my camera anyway. 😉
I was hoping the capture a typical Australian landscape photo, with the colours of the outback.
After doing some 4X4 driving up Mt Singleton, we headed east in search of a campsite. We parked up against a massive rock and discovered eroded holes filled with water from recent cyclone rains.
With the high-level cloud, which was hopefully going to catch some color, the plan for a composition was to find a rock pool of water and line it up with the camera aimed at the setting sun.
As this was my first shoot with the Fujifilm GFX100S, I keep the camera settings relatively simple, base ISO of 100, aperture set to 14-16, then adjust the shutter speed to expose the scene correctly. Finally, focus on the rock pool in the foreground and take the shot.
The lads and I hung around as the sunset and the colours start to really kick off, so I experimented with a few different rocks pools in the foreground.

Thank you for sharing Andrew, always looking forward to seeing your video. 🤩🤩🤩
Beautiful images Andrew . 👌🏼
Awesome video as usual Andrew. I find your cinematography/videography as inspiring as your photography. I look forward to your next instalment.
Thanks for that John, I think I enjoy the cinematography side of things as much as the photography. I'm so glad you are likely the footage.
Ok - now I need to pick my jaw up and clean up the puddle of drool . . . . .seriously that was so good! Those images from out there. . . . . .
Sensational images. I really appreciate your approach, calm, informative, inspirational and motivating. Thank you.

Such a great video Andrew. Fabulous drone and ground photographs. Looks like a great place to spend a few days.
Absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Great location, recipes, mates, and images; an excellent combination. What more do you need? Looking forward to the next one. Stay well out there.
Glad you enjoyed it Miguel, yeah nothing like good food, drink and company in a great location. The photography was almost an after thought! 🤣
Thanks Andrew. I always learn something wathcing your videos.
Cheers Mark, I love that feedback mate, thanks for sharing! 👍

Thanks Scott, it was an awesome trip, great food, drink and company and to finish things off with a beautiful sunset, was fantastic.
Another great vlog Andrew. Beautiful location and sunset. Great sunset images and drone footage too. Well done.
Cheers Geoff, we were very luck with the light, but it was a fantastic location and we had no idea it was there until we came across it.
Man I miss Ninghan. Actually planning a trip up there soon!
Awesome work mate. Loved the video
Yeah, it was my first time there and already looking at going back, cheers Jaemie, thanks for your comment mate!
Thanks
Thanks so much for the Super Donation, I really appreciate your support! 👍😊
Nice one Andrew, cheers from Denmark/WA. Never been out there. Yet.
I spent a week driving through the wheat belt last year and found more interesting compositions than I thought, also in the small towns. Then went over to Cape Arid, where I was wondering if a carbon tripod isn't actually a great lightning rod... but yeah, thunder storms make nice backdrops :-)
Thanks for your comment Rod, I love the Wheatbelt for photography and I'm always surprised with what there is to find out there. I've not been to Cape Arid though, but you're right anything with a storm in the background is going to make an awesome shot. Cheers mate!
Wow, GFX 100S is quite a beast. Congratulation on treating yourself with that beauty of a camera. Wonderful 👍 have plenty of fun.
I was watching this cam pretty closely also, but for now the overall package of cam + 1-2 decent lenses is just too invest-heavy.
Looking forward to watching more episodes with the GFX 100S 👌👍👍🔥🍀
Cheers mate, I can thank SS for the GFX, that's where 100% of the money came from. The more I use it the more I'm enjoying it. There's more to come!
@@Andrew_marr Thanks for your transparency, appreciated. Wow, thats quite a sponsoring I have to say. Great you partnered up with them. 👍💪
@@jiffijoff9780 I should clarify that the sponsorship started back in 2017, so it’s been a decent partnership.
Loved the intro Andrew, really set the scene for your vlog and the images were stunning as always, those skies really looked incredible. Are you switching to medium format in the longer term or was this a try out and see what you think?
Glad you enjoyed it mate,I thinking of adding more of this part of the story/journey into the videos I create. We were very lucky with the colour we had in the sky, perfect conditions. This isn't a try, I've purchased the GFX100S a few months ago. I wouldn't say I'm switching, I'm running a few systems and picking the right tool for the right job...perhaps I should elaborate in a future video. 😀
Hope the tyre wasn’t a write off. One of your best intros IMHO and great images. Will there be a GFX100 review at some point?
Cheers Brian, unfortunately the tyre was completely done. I was unlucky to back into one of the sharpest rocks I've seen. It sliced through the tyre like butter and left a cut about as long as your hand. Really glad you enjoyed the intro mate, thanks for that. I could look at doing a review on the GFX100S at some point!
@@Andrew_marr GFX100s review ....yes please. Interested in the why the move, thoughts on RAW, advantages and disadvantages over DSLR and lens choices you made and why. NZ
Hey Andrew, great video and thanks for sharing👍 I'm a long time subscriber and really enjoy your videos but not sure if it's just me but I find your audio is a bit low. I have it full volume and sometimes still struggle to hear you. But like I said love your videos mate ✌
Thanks for the feedback Marty, I recon sound is the hardest thing to get right. I've invested a lot of time trying to tweak the audio so it's perfect. The feedback I get most of the time are people thinking it's too loud and there's too much difference between the music and when I talk. So I have adjusted the talking up and the music down. I've even spent hour learning about audio manipulation, compressions, equalisers and limiter. I play it back repeatedly on my earphone with the volume at 50%. I'd love to know if you have the same experience on different devices, say computer and mobile, with and with out earphones? Again, I appreciate you feedback and help on this, cheer mate!
@@Andrew_marr sorry for the late reply Andrew. With headphones on any device it is fine, on my tablet or phone, both, your music and voice is low without headphones. On my TV it is fine because I have an amplifier that I can just turn up louder. I think it's just that most videos I watch online on tablet/phone I can turn down without headphones and yours I feel I sometimes at 100% volume I need more to get the same volume. To put it another way, it is easier to turn it down if its too loud but you can't turn it up if your already at 100%. Anyway mate, it's no biggie, just thought I would share my experience with you. Still really enjoy your videos and insights. Cheers, Marty.
What lens?
I currently have the GFX 32-64mm, waiting for Fijifilm to release their wider zoom!
@@Andrew_marr thank you,and this lens sharp?
All of the GFX lenses are incredibly sharp and high quality.
Is that a Hummingbird or moth at 12:09?
Definitely not a Hummingbird, Could have been a bat, but probably a moth!
@@Andrew_marr Cool! loved your video, as always very informative. 🙌👏👏👏
