Absolutely not. The Tv co's would use 10 cameras to get to get silly dramatic shots. Focused on eye lashes, wizzed a round, zoomed in and out. That's why i came over to youtube, to get away from the silliness.
yeah, I have to confess I at one point hoped those over ski's would fall off...really though, a walking stick is not a encumbrance you can afford to leave behind.
The way you cut off the broken sharp piece of the glass bottle and make these cool glass vases/candleholders is really...Cool of course!! That was nice of you to give Nichola the teapot 🫖 and marmalade jar. I was born 100 years later in 1962!! I really thought you were going to get stuck in that muck, same with Nicola, that was incredible. I always wonder about using snowshoes when the muck is that deep and soft. I would line up those bottles from the lightest to the darkest then put tea lights in them. Or have a beautiful piece of Thames wood and arrange them in a group with fairy lights in them. What a great video Si!! Thanks!!☺️🌊
My goodness!. There are so many of my memories evoked by this video! We have incredible "mud flats" around here and you'd better be well acquainted with how to move through them or you're a goner! My dear late father was a big-time bottle collector and would have loved this video. H was a member of the local bottle collectors' club and even had a 4-chambered, very elegant decanter. No idea what happened to it. Great video.
I have so much respect for both you and Nicola, Simon! Not only do you entertain us with your high-quality mudlarking videos, but you are both true artisans. A Renaissance man turning trash into treasure. Thanks for what you do each week. I look forward to visiting your Etsy store.
This is the first time I have watched your channel and I am addicted. A wonderful way to carry on the past. I imagine the original makers never thought that these bottles would still exist today. 😀
Crickey... Those are some beautiful finds... And even more beautiful glasses for sure.. Stay safe out there in that mud.. Cheers from across the pond..
Double THUMBS UP to Si and Nic! What a lovely, fantastic mudlucking bottle adventure!!! :-) :-) :-) Si you were snow shoeing over the mud and demonstrating such strength and balance; I would have been stuck and face first in the mud! :-p Nic, I like your taste in finds in the mud! Thank you, I enjoyed your adventure! Karen from Georgia, USA
You’re a champ carrying all those bottles 🤗awesome find and I love that you give them a new life and we can buy a piece of history as well as sharing your lark🙏🏻Thank you 👍🏻💕I live on the Ohio River and unfortunately we don’t find anything except the occasional piece of driftwood...
Fantastic thank you both for taking us along on such a happy bottle adventure. Great fun to see you get stuck in the mud & held my breath for the mud slips & slides. Delighted you kept your balance. Well done keep those great adventures coming.
Hi from down under! I think the Claytons promo went something like "Claytons, the drink you have when you're not having a drink". Great finds from you and Nick. Good to see them being repurposed.
Yes Si, so true. That catch phrase was later incorporated into using any word for jokes. My dad used it all the time. e.g. A Clayton's Job..The job u have when u don't have a job... A Clayton's Girlfriend.. The girlfriend u have when u don't have a girlfriend hahaha Etc etc..... Used when someone doesn't really have the real thing..... Gotta love history.... Love ur vids, thanx for sharing more amazing finds.. 😂😂😉😉😎😎
I get quite jealous watching your videos. Wish I could mudlark the Thames. I go round various Scottish beaches looking for treasure. My mums family are originally Londoners so feel a connection with the Thames. Maybe one day. Keep up the good work. X
Amazing video. You could make some beautiful coasters with some of the bottoms of the bottles. Georgeous. Love the wood. Super. Its so cool that you are using those beautiful bottles who would otherwise be discarded Thank you.
Those bottles look amazing once you've cleaned and cut them down a bit, they would lovely with flowers in on your kitchen window or can be used for anything paintbrushes, pens almost absolutely anything. Thank you another great video.
I had complete faith that you would make it to that jar, and you did! What wonderful finds! I hurried off to your Etsy shop to find...nothing! Completely sold out!!! Yay for you, sad for me, but I know you will replenish it! Good going, Simon, I am so glad you are giving all your fans a chance to own their own piece of history! You rock! Til next time, take care! xx ~Jen
I live in the States and I would love to do mudlarking myself. We don't have stuff her as old as you guys so I'm wishing I could be out there with you guys finding all that treasure! Good luck hunting! Love the channel!
I found myself laughing out loud (cats thought I'd lost my marbles...again...lol) when your strap nearly caused you to tumble arse-over-teakettle!! You may consider designing your own heavy-duty type of mudshoe. One where the heels are secured to the base, unlike the snowshoe. Stronger straps with Velcro quick release. Great finds once again! I love watching the 2 of you. Looks fun!!
Your friendship is lovely! Its so lovely to watch both of you lose yourselves in your hobby/earner.... Nicola, your art eyes are wonderful. Cannot wait to buy a glass bottle Si
I love the imperfections in the older glass, and the colors are amazing. Can’t wait to see how a cuppa from ye olde tea pot turns out! You two might consider collaborating on an art piece, as you both have such great creative ideas.
@@Sifinds More of Dump digging, bottles and household stuff. Our waterways up north are hard access but along the banks behind the old houses are treasures. New England in general is good!
Great video you two work well together Simone thanks for giving us all a laugh with your snow shoes and you did get there and back well done some good idea's with the bottles thank you both love IT.
The snow shoes in mud was so funny! 👍🏼 I have seen where a board is used to get out on gloopy mud. A 36" square piece of plywood wold work. Using 2 pieces you pick one up and put it in front of you, hop onto it, then pick up the one behind you and put it in front of you. Takes time , but gets you the finds no one can reach!
Brilliant vid. The exhausing mud wading was worth it, u got some fab bottles, sad theyv been mostly overlooked in the past just cos the tops were off. So great 2 see that theyv been reborn n can be used in the future now. Theres endless uses 4 them.
I was going to mention about the lead paint but luckily someone has. Also the glass is full of silica be careful dry sanding without a respirator cheer great viewing as always when you two get together.
Story-teller, good-natured humorist, historian, adventurer, river-cleaner, artist, upcycler... I hope your Etsy shop will someday ship to the U.S. I'd be pleased to support your work. Search safe!

, nice bottles I like what you've done with them sorry it took so long to get to your video I had a little bit of a hospital problem lost my brother over the weekend I'm back you guys stay blessed and I'll watch you on the next
Hi guys, I remember Clayton's drinks here in Australia. The catch phrase was "Clayton's the drink you have when you're not having a drink" I don't think it did a thing to reduce drink driving but it did bring back memories of my teen years .
I have binge watched all your videos these past few days(joy of working in a school and half term). I am totally fascinated! I've even been looking into getting a Foreshore Licence! The history that you unlock is amazing! What a fab way to learn! Mudlarking should be on the National Curriculum! :)
I would guess that the remains of the boat were from around 1900. It was a clinker built yacht with a centreboard, you can see the narrow box for it. As said, beware the red lead paint. They used real lead back then and it looks as if the coats are thick. No sanding it down Nicola without VERY a good respirator mask. Really better if you don't tackle it at all, not worth the risk IMO.
Great job on the malfunction management @Si-finds! 50 gold stars for use of a snow shoe in a murky environment! Giggling still ... ! Going to gaze upon Ye Etsy store and pine awhile before I’m back to my eBay drudgery! My best to Ye both and tyvm again!
