The watercolor paint behind the oil pastel gave this painting a wonderfully soft background look. Your work is so inspiring and beautiful! Please keep sharing these trips with us! The water is inviting. How could anyone pass up a swim!
Thank you, Helen, for another beautiful video. Your ease of sketching and painting are such an inspiration to me and your videos in the morning are making my endorphins flow! Thank you for providing me with such a wonderful start of the day. 😊❤
When the video was over, I said: whaaat already? I want more! Fortunately you have a huge back catalogue of videos for me to watch 😊 I love your videos Helen!
Thank you, Helen. I love seeing your gorgeous part of the world. I hope I can get there someday. Your weather during this outing looked soooo nice!! I would never have thought pastel paper would take watercolor but I loved seeing your combination. It really seemed to work great. It looked like you had a great time and it was so nice to see your smiling face and happy feet 😊!
Hello Helen, I like the last painting with pre-painted watercolour, and the greens you have used, very much. Trelissick, and the area of St. Just are beautiful places to visit and sketch. Thank you for sharing your work!
Oh Helen, sooo much to love and say about this wonderful video. Firstly, I thought I lived in "paradise" but it appears I have been under a misconception all these years! Your videos have me realising what an idyllic childhood I had, with the privilege of growing up living all around UK in the 70s (Air Force upbringing hence the moving about). Anyway, that aside, your art made me so happy this morning. Your first painting, whilst loose, had so much depth, texture and detail through the different choice of colours and mediums. I love how you seem to manage this so seamlessly. Beautiful finished piece. Your second piece, what a wonderful reminder of a special day. Your third piece was just fabulous. I am trying to work more with the oil pastels atm and concur that a darker green seems anathema to the oil pastel companies! Anyhoo, I love your skills with perspective and depth in your landscapes, I still struggle with this. In fact perspective in anything is in my "crap at" column. I loved watching you overlay the oil pastels and your choice of colours to produce a final piece that in parts looked like a fully rendered oil painting. The magic of oil pastels 😊. In saying that, the watercolour underpainting gave the final piece a certain something that couldn't have been achieved in oils (imho). Anyhoo, am still going thru a full-on rubbish health phase so my art has been back seat and so once again, living vicariously through your beautiful work has made me extremely happy. Thank you, sincerely. With love and gratitude from sunny Merewether! ps - loved the little glimpses of you throughout this vid 😎
I have to say - Cornwall was really showing off last week!! You are so very kind. I'm sad that your health is not treating you well, but your attitude is wonderful, and I'm glad you're able to still find enjoyment in art one way or another. I don't use oil pastels loads, but every time I do, I really enjoy them!
Wonderful art, but I also liked just enjoying the last vestiges of summer weather with you! Today was likely the last warm day this year where I live and the rain and brrrr! move in tomorrow. Time to switch from plein air to "plein car" painting 😅
Lovely! I was going to ask if that dark, blackish pastel was black - but you just answered. You captured some wonderful movement and glow in the sky with the pastels. I went to Cornwall, pre-covid, but only for five days…I feel I’m beginning to know it so much better with you, Mel Chadwick and Kriksis though🤗
I love that combo of watercolour & oil pastel. Must try! That is an absolutely gorgeous painting. I love seeing you work on a larger scale. Are you thinking of going bigger, on sheets of paper rather than sketchbooks? 🤩
Such beautiful weather, no wonder you had a great time outside. The paintings came out wonderful as well. Trisilic is beautiful, really love watching you paint. Keep up the amazing work!!
Another gorgeous „sightseeing video“, & super sketch, & if that’s not enough I like the music too! Such lovely scenery, it’s like food for the hungry!! Thanks.
I loved this last painting so much that I ordered the Haiyu box of 72, from Amazon, which also comes with some paper, and a few other things. Had a 10% off coupon, too! (I'm in Canada.) It's a super deal. Only $61 CAD, including tax.🎉
Helen, I'm loving the bold, loose marks with the pastels over the w/c paint. Would love to see you do a larger art piece and maybe change your "go to" colour palette completely. I think you have the ability to go abstract and make art into what Cornwall FEELS LIKE to you. You have the energy, passion, tools, and paints/ pastels to give it a go. Wouldn't it be a fun go? The small exercises first like taping up 6 or 9 squares on one large piece of paper and using a limited palette....and just letting go, using fingers, different brush sizes and pencil marks. It's the knowing when to stop that's the hard part. I'd really be keen to know your thoughts on this idea. Jo.
Thank you! I'm very flattered by your confidence in me!! I did these a while back - is that kind of along the lines of what you mean? ruclips.net/video/hxBa7n3sp2E/видео.html
@@helencryergreat stuff.!!! Good on you for giving it a go. ( Although I could tell in the middle small sketches, you were thinking instead of feeling). Your use of mixed media was really interesting and the colours were bold. I still think you could even dive deeper on a large sheet and get bolder. Depends if you enjoy abstract I guess.....it can be a great release. Jo.
Your painting is absolutely beautiful. Makes me want to buy some oil pastels and give this style a try. Do you think you could make your own dark green pastel stick by mixing the darkest green you have with a little bit of blue or black. Wouldn’t it be nice if you found an artist that makes customized oil pastels? Just a thought.
You need to get your work on canvas and sell some of them , your work as always is amazing Helen . You bring a story behind every piece to create which is also part of the art you create . Xx
It's crazy how the "scribbles" and blobs of color come to life in the finished painting. Blows my mind every time.
Thanks ever so much 😁

Lovely light and feeling of grass. And a sense of what it was like there…. A bit of your magic.
Thanks so much!!

Haha! Thanks ever so much - I really appreciate it!
Thank you Helen - loved the WC under the oil pastel! I had a lovely lunch break with you! I love National Trust properties
Thanks! They have some incredible properties, and I like pretending I own them when I'm there!
Love your Cornwall beaches 💕 & your paintings of them. 💕 You make me want to go back. ✈️🌎🌍
It felt a very special place last week!

The pastel paper coped surprisingly well!

A watercolour base with oil pastels over the top turned out well. Stunning piece of art! 🙏💙
Thanks!!
Beautiful paintings!! Always love seeing the videos of the places that inspire your paintings, you live in such a beautiful area 😊.
Hi! Thank you! Cornwall outdid itself last week!
Really love the one on oil pastel paper - beautiful!
Thank you!
Great video! I especially loved the oil pastel-on-watercolor painting. Really inspiring!
Thank you!
Those scenes in Cornwall really are beautiful! I love your blue in the shadows, it works perfectly!😍x
Thank you!
Fantastic painting Helen, thank you.
Thank you!
I love your art. You should create a 'splurge and Scribble' course!
I'm very flattered thank you!! I wouldn't have a clue about how to go about doing a course though!
Great idea! I’m sure Mel Chadwick could give you a few pointers 😃

Ooh, yes, car painting!! I'm OK with Autumn this week because I packed so much into last week!
I'm always impressed by how much layering you do. :)
A case of 'if at first you don't succeed... layer!'
Lovely video as always Helen. A sketchbook tour video would be lovely so we can see all your gorgeous paintings and drawings again ❤
Thank you! I'll make a note of it!
Thank you, i really enjoyed that. Very inspiring and nice music too (which ist super rare 😅)

Thanks! It's just St.Agnes village one.

I had a thought. If you stop being first for a period of time, should we start worrying? I mean should we be sending out search parties etc??
