I have no problem with the mold either. It's simpler to sprinkle in/on the soil and it does breakdown to become part of the soil. Works well. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video! I bought the smaller bags of Mosquito Bits, and it did not have any directions for fungus gnats! As for your yellow balls, sounds like a slime mold, actually pretty common and non-harmful. Glad I found your channel!

Hi thank you for your video. I use the bits on top and yes there’s mold but I don’t care as long as it doesn’t hurt my plant. I like the idea of your tea and will try it in the future. I got fungus gnats a few weeks ago as soon as the weather got warm. I pulled out my mosquito bits and yellow traps. I have the yellow traps in all my plants. Bigger plants two. And at this point all is well.
Oh no! Sorry to hear about your pilea! Mine aren’t doing well either and another person also commented that their pileas aren’t doing well. At least you’re not alone! 🥲
@@Botanibabies I'm gonna kill em 👹 haha whats really hard to kill is an aphid infestation..omg they royally fucked me over this past summer outside..and lemme tell you I was outside weekly spraying permethrin..and finally neem oil did the trick
I just got a bag of this and I didn't pay attention to the instructions and just eye-balled it and sprinkled it on the soil of my pots THEN added water. Was that the incorrect method? Do I need to go and follow the instructions this? I'm planting acorns and want to try and eliminate any potential problem for their development.
Thank you. The sticky traps are good. I have the butterfly shaped ones. I just started using bits this spring. I mix in soil. Do you put more in the soil after they decay? If so, how long do you wait to put new bits in the soil? I saw another video where mold was mentioned. It is good to know that it just rinses away after a while.
Yes, I love the different shapes they come in! As for the old mosquito bits, I actually haven’t replaced them or added more since lol. I should probably put a new layer... I find that gnats don’t normally go into those ones that have the old mosquito bits.
You can wait to water your plant until after putting the mosquito bits. A few pieces is fine to go down the drain if you have a garbage disposal. Otherwise, I recommend using a drain strainer thingy 🤓
I have those small spice bag from Daiso just never thought tp use it for MB tea. That's brilliant! Thanks. I was struggling to pick out the bits after watering, the bits cause a layer of mold and I can't tolerate it. Do you use this MB tea for every watering? Will it get too much for the soil? I wonder when I should stop treating my plants with MB.
I love daiso! I agree, it’s a pain to sift out the mosquito bits 😭. I am going to continue to use the MB on the plants until I notice a significant decrease of the gnats that are caught on the yellow traps. I’ve also sprinkled MB on the top layer of almost all my houseplants. I haven’t personally experienced any harm of longterm or continued use of MB on any of the Botanibabies. A lot of websites online say it’s not harmful to the plant.
@@Botanibabies great to know the gnats population is kept under control. Thanks for your advice, I'll keep up with MB tea. Praying to the MB gods for help 😄😄😁🤣

I like the idea of adding them to the new soil
.
Great idea using the tea bags. Hope you finally get rid of the gnats.
Me too! Thanks Esmeralda ❤️

I get those yellow ball looking eggs in my ZZ plants. It almost looks like pollen. I changed the soil and put in new pots and it just comes back

Hi neighbor!!
Very helpful video! Agree to need multiple methods due to the lifespan, just like Mosquitoes! Thanks so much!

Very helpful and thorough information! Trying this today!
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely have to do this to my poor, suffering pilea

Should the eaten leaves be removed? Thanks!

I like your channel.

@@Botanibabies Ok. Good that is good to know. I probably did a little overkill in my soil anyway.
Do you water your plants first? Is it safe to go down sink drainage? Thank you for the video!!

Ugggh why didn't I use a teabag for mine! DUH! I just made my first batch so at least I know now.
What soil do you use? Miracle Grow? 🙂
Hi Jana! Yes, I just use the general purpose MG potting mix. I’ve tried other brands, but I’ve also had the same problems unfortunately 😬
Would love to subscribe….can’t find where to click!?
Yes I’m ok with sprinkling it on top of my soil . Good idea with tea bags 👍👍 it’s working husband not slapping gnats away😂😂
😂 those gnats are really brave, they love flying around our faces
