Hair is beginning to grow. Twist hair without additions has begun to show growth. Hydration, is improving. I wear a plastic cap almost 24-7 for moisturization. Am so happy 😂❤😊
@@BlessingMayangoglad you spoke on this, because too much is not good and will have you with mushy looking hair. It can also start growing fungus, so…..be careful with that
I wear a plastic bag as well, but I only do it about 3 days out of the week. But I don’t add anything to my hair before wearing the bag because I don’t want moisture overload.
I love to watch these types of videos for hair types other than my own. It's amazing how many of these tips are universal. I have thigh length, type 1b, medium porosity hair, but I use many of the same techniques.
Even though, the “hair strand in the glass of water “ indicates that my hair is low porosity, my hair is high porosity. My hair literally “drinks up” water, shampoo, and conditioner. It also dries very quickly. I agree with you about glycerin. I’ve been using the glycerin mixed with water for over a year, and it’s been a game changer for me. I follow this with a leave in conditioner, then I twist my natural hair. My hair does not break off and I rarely get split ends. It stays moisturized longer. Thank you for all of your great hair tips! ♥️
Natural Nadine has two videos about this. She talks about this American study where they compare balck hair to asian and caucasian. And basically we all (black people) have high porosity hair. And I agree with her and this study
Sis say less!! I will do a reaction to her video! her voice is much needed in this community. a lot of us are not ready to be told we need to change what we have known to be true for so long but thanks for being logical! it makes sooooo much sense!🌺
I’ve seen her videos regarding this as well. I’ve never thought I had low porosity and I don’t have my hands in other ladies’ hair to think differently of theirs. I just know that the ladies with natural hair, who are retaining length, do a lot of things in common. Moisturizing their hair frequently and protective styling are the main two. 😊
I can attest to using honey on hair. I use Crème of Nature Pure Honey Twisting Butter and Camille rose pure honey, the bottle that looks like honey. I use this on my hair during the winter months after my pressed hair gets dry and I use it when I am wearing my curly hair. Never used glycerin and I may try it so thanks for the tip because I can see that it can be very beneficial in keeping hair moisturized in the right weather.
Sis!!! I am with you on porosity!!! I have been wondering about porosity and although my hair sits on top of water forever I am likely NOT low porosity. Gray hair has higher porosity scientifically and my gray hair float on top of water like my black hair, but does that mean it is low porosity? NOOOOO!! I think a better measure of porosity is if your hair likes heavy products or not. High porosity loves heavier products and need heavier products. I have learned that my hair is medium to high porosity. I am 58 years old with 70% gray hair. My black hair is different than my gray hair. I separate the shed hair and experiment with the two. My black hair is medium porosity and my gray is medium high porosity. I have been experimenting with your glycerin water and have found that 2 TBSP to 25 ounces works for my hair. Thank you for the moisturizing videos. My hair is definitely more hydrated and moisturized!
Very interesting I’m glad u found your porosity . I know when I was transitioning I thought I had high porosity but I had all the signs of low porosity. What I’ve noticed now that I’m fully natural is my hair in the front is more low porosity but the hair in the back is medium porosity.
Thank you for the information. I have never thought too much about porosity. When the Natural Hair Space was making a big deal about it, I tried to determine where my hair stood. I got a mixed bag of cats. I left that alone. I have just learned (and am still learning) my hair and what products and techniques it responds to favorably/unfavorably. This is working for me.
That water test did nothing for me lol, my hair dries fast and loves heavy products even though the float test says I'm low porosity I'm definitely high porosity with how my hair behaves Always excited when you post new videos because i always learn something new Thank you for sharing ♥️
I thoroughly enjoyed this video and I will watch it again. My hair loves moisture…I don’t know what moisture overload is! 😄 And I believe my hair is high porosity simply because of what I need to do for it to hold on to moisture…THE MOST! You’ve helped tremendously with that. And back in the day when I used to get relaxers, it took no time at all for my hair to get straight. My Strands are fine. Looking forward to what you find regarding porosity! Thanks for your video as always!
Wow amazing video. Glad I found your channel. I saw the glycerin video and I put glycerin in my hair tea it's doing wonders no more dry hair and scalp😀😀😀
Hey sis. So im binge watching your videos and i have a question. When you had short short hair 2017 after your big chop, did you mosturise it and condition after wash ?....your response is highly appreciated ❤
When I did the test, it was low porosity but when I started learning my hair. It turned out that my hair is chronic high dry porosity. The best test is to observe how long water goes in and how long it stays without product. The water test is deceitful. Also my hair absorbe water easily like a sponge and then gets dry within a twinkle of an eye
even water absorption is relative because depending how much product is sitting on your hair and how long since your last wash, it will affect how quick your hair gets wet
I actually agree with glycerine but it changes my hair colour, though the moisture is worth it. I tried to keep it out of my routine and my hair has started darkening again but it doesn't retain that much moisture. I tried glycerine rich products, same issue, is there an alternative to glycerine but is equally good?
nothing like glycerin. it’s the strongest humectant. are you sure it was glycerin responsible for the color change? maybe a combination of products or another product? maybe you used too much? just trying to troubleshoot
@@CoilyDiaries it could be, it's just that when I removed glycerine completely, the problem went away, I just miss how it makes my hair feel. I use mostly natural things apart from my shampoo which I have used for years.
Love your channel! I have a question. How can I keep my hair moisturized in a stretched state? It feels like my hair is drier when I stretch it with heat. I want to do twist as a protective style for length retention.
I don't use separate glycerin other than what may be in my hair products. Do you think the tension method of blow drying will help? Or will that also dry my hair out?
Great tips! I have high porosity hair but I agree with what you said about the all porosity talk. I just a great of damage to my hair from early relaxers placed on my hair as early as the age of 7 without my permission or request. My mom then continued to relax both my sister's and my hair through the years adding to horrendus breakage and bald patches. I noticed at 10 that when I took over the management of my hair with simple products and styling that it grew. These are the things that I am using now. Please do those additional videos, when you get the chance and I will look into the conditioner that you mentioned. I hair great results, but because I now color my hair (due to graying), I have to be mindful of breakage possibilities due to the chemical break down. Thank you again for caring to share. I love my natural hair.
Most people have or can have all three types of porosity or 2 of them in our heads. Just like a lot of us have 2 different textures in her hair I honestly I don’t know my porosity and really don’t care to know
fair enough not wanting to know. for type 4c it’s predominantly high. maybe looser curls and straight hair may have variations but for us with kinky hair, it’s characteristic of high porosity
@@CoilyDiaries yes that may be true. I just go by if the product work with my hair, if the routine is working and my hair is hydrated, moisturized, and growing then that’s what ima do and use

I am gonna try this. But I went to the apothecary to buy one today. But it was finished. Where do you buy yours?

10:51 agreed I don’t trust the water test because my hair isn’t low porosity since it loves protein
I see what you mean!!
Excellent video, once again!!! Thank you so much! Will you please let me know the ratio of water to glycerin in your spritz? Thank you!!🙏🏽 🎉
usually 1 tbs glycerin to a cup of distilled water
@@CoilyDiaries thank you!!🙏🏽❤️

n you use any kind of glycerin ?
Yes 😊

do you mean the glycerin water? same same.. I have done a video on how to use glycerin all year round. see the “moisturising” playlist

Heat unfortunately drys the hair out! The moisturising routine remains the same regardless. Maybe less glycerin so it doesn’t shrink.
I don't use separate glycerin other than what may be in my hair products. Do you think the tension method of blow drying will help? Or will that also dry my hair out?
Just recently, i began to believe I have high prorosity instead of low prorosity, too after so many hairdressers have told me different for years.
