Wonderful stuff. Gas oven making moisture? The heat removes the moisture, things get hot and therefore...dry. I have two propane ovens, added the second apartment size stove to increase production when I am working on/with food. Food supply is too important to take lightly and agree with the jars for storage. I am rather new to home canning of all types. Some background..but the more I learn here on utube the more I am happy for instructional opportunities. I will be watching to learn about the electric oven thing. Here in the deep south where I live. East Texas has incredible humidity most of the year and in the "winter". There is another channel called Deep South Homestead, it comes down to about the same thing. Clean sterile jars and care during the process. Thanks for sharing.
an engineer subscriber explained it to us prior to our move.. basically electic heat is a dry heat.. gas/propane is in fact a moist heat.. for some? that means moisture in the jars.. HOWEVER .. leaving it 24 hrs? does allow the product to re-absorb the moisture. which is by law way under a certain percentage.. we were lucky enough to NOT HAVE had that issue with ours in our location.. i just also make sure NOT to oven can on moist days.. id rather be extra careful. we all are still learning.. no one's the expert 😃👍 thanks for stopping in..i'd go nuts without my dry canning lol
You skipped from putting the rice in the jars to taking them out of the oven and putting the lids on. I somehow missed what temperature to set the oven and how long to keep them in the oven. You may have said it but for some reason I totally missed it. I appreciate you helping me remember a skill I haven’t used in 40 years.

Hello from Sudbury ON.. Just happen to stumble upon your channel.. Love the content, very informative and thanks...Just starting out and excited to learn!
I missed out learning to can from my wonderful Grandmother who was the queen of canning EVERYTHING. So now my Mama and I share tips and tricks. She sent me here and I'm very thankful for the video! Never knew you could just leave the rings off either 😂
so happy your here.😊the reason's you mentioned with grandma? are the very reason's we are doing this. we have 17 grandchildren. far far away..far enough away that drop in's to help can? are impossible..so..even if just one of our grands gleans this from our video's for them? then it's so so worth it. rings off the jars? on that im old school.. keep them OFF unless traveling. makes your weekly inspection of jars so much safer in determining if you have a false seal.. a ring on? can appear to reseal if temps or humidity is changing... i stole a bungee chord from andy lol lol.. and string my rings on it and use the bungee chord hooks to loop it onto a pantry shelf.. all handy for when i need them again.. ( steal clean ones) lol lol
I just found your channel and I love how down to earth and sweet you are.. Also I appreciate your wisdom and knowledge on canning because I'm a newbie.😁Be safe and be happy !!!🤗
Thank you so much! so glad your here with us. we're just climbing out of 9 months of cancer in our home .. will be slowly posting regularly again.. so behind in my canning.. so soon tons of that as well . isn't it amazing how much you can save on food? and have all ingredients you can spell? lol.
if you can't can your flour or rice or oats? freeze them 5 days. that? will kill them. then slap into your buckets in bags. good for all your tomorrows.
lol oh Arminda im so pleased your enjoying.. wait'll you see andy's salmon video... man o man editing nightmare..lol he was being bad.. i left one in.. lol.. he's so naughty lol... the dish? was AMAZING his behavor? not so much lol😂
Good instruction, didn't have to wait for the info! Have watched many videos to date, yet, you shared the info so fast! Will watch till the end! Thank You!
Glad it was helpful! im guilty of yammering on as well.. many viewers need info asap when looking for something ( i do myself lol ) but many more viewers come in for the information as well as the company. it's a fine line in getting what all viewers need. i hope to deliver entertainment , information and facts good and or bad.. success and failures. Thanks for your visit debbie..our canning playlist? offers many other dry canning video's as well . hope they are as helpful. ruclips.net/p/PL_esfRPyYcgZiuEf_zkM_Wp7k9FnZu8ZP
Thanks so much for your video, i enjoyed it 🙂 all I was able to find was the 1 litre jars so I’m glad to find out from you that you leave it in the oven for 1hour….
I enjoyed your video today but for the life of my I don’t see the oven temperature anywhere. And did you say you put the lids and rings in oven for a bit just to warm them up? Thank you, your a sweet soul.
Paige family Homestead Our Journey back yes we are but haven’t done any dry canning of grains. Oh and you guys are always welcome sights on the channel.
Paige family Homestead Our Journey back I’m amazed at the people that felt like it was pointed to them. The whole reason for the video both mine and Robert’s was to help new channels figure out that some people pretend to be friends when they never have the intentions on doing more than using people. You guys are not or have never been like that.
Thanks so much.. it's my PASSION.. putting up foods we grow or obtain.. for our tomorrow. i tell andy all the time... made with love for tomorrow's. :-D it's saved our hiney during the start of the lockdown thats for sure.
I find it interesting that today my son-in-law and daughter and I were discussing how to put up rice and beans. And we were talking about the 5-gallon containers. And putting bay leaves all throughout it. And that there is a better way to store it. Because every time you open it you take a risk of bugs and things getting in there. I don't really like putting them in anything bigger than a quart cuz I've got 2 that are in a half gallon jars now and it takes a long time to get them used up. I've got 2 and one it's still 3/4 full. And I feel like this is a much better plan. I'm glad Watched your how to make juice videos just a minute ago, and I saw this as well! A lot of great information! I've watched the juice one before and when I decided to do it I knew where to go on how to do it! So I am doing mixed berry and grape! I've got blue, black-and-rasberry and I do have some strawberry. I may make strawberry freezer jam. Plus peach jam. I thought with the watermelon jelly some of theses others would make great Christmas gifts. So thank you Ms. Peggy you and Andy have given me some more great gift ideas! God bless you both and may Lord keep you both in his perfect health and happiness!!!
Thanks for subbing! oh wow.. this is wonderful. waitll i tell andy. 😊 always a joy to hear ppl are enjoying the video's. helps keep us motivated lol.. do share video's on social media if you can please? helps us grow and we are currently pushing to reach 4000 subs for our give-away and shout out. been a wonderful 10 months on youtube. we love it. and thanks.. for your support .

Thank you for teaching me!
Ty for visiting 😀
Thank you so much! so glad your here with us. we're just climbing out of 9 months of cancer in our home .. will be slowly posting regularly again.. so behind in my canning.. so soon tons of that as well . isn't it amazing how much you can save on food? and have all ingredients you can spell? lol.
Wow! You guys can everything! Too cool! We vacume bag seal our rice but canning is a great idea! Like you said heating kills the eggs you can't see!
if you can't can your flour or rice or oats? freeze them 5 days. that? will kill them. then slap into your buckets in bags. good for all your tomorrows.
@@PeggyAndAndyPaige thank you we will try that😊👍

Thanks so much for your video, i enjoyed it 🙂 all I was able to find was the 1 litre jars so I’m glad to find out from you that you leave it in the oven for 1hour….
Thank you from Illinois ❤
The break bleeder works great
it does.. got mine and i keep it in kitchen drawer..use it almost daily.
the break bleeder works wonderful.
Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad you are so *Gracious*
we all need to be
Very good demonstration. How about putting your rice and beans in the freezer for a few days. Will that get the bugs and eggs.?
I enjoyed your video today but for the life of my I don’t see the oven temperature anywhere. And did you say you put the lids and rings in oven for a bit just to warm them up? Thank you, your a sweet soul.
Thank you!!! I wet can but have never dry canned.
I am going try this. I put everything in mason jars but would really help keep rice so much longer. Thank you.
This is something I’ve never tried but I appreciate you guys showing us how to do this
Some good thoughts about watchers. And I agree.
@@ArkansasWoodcutter thank you Mark.. also we really want those we CARE for to get food put up...are yas doing some putting away? 🌻
Paige family Homestead Our Journey back yes we are but haven’t done any dry canning of grains. Oh and you guys are always welcome sights on the channel.
@@ArkansasWoodcutter thanks..needed to hear that..felt a lil bruised...
Paige family Homestead Our Journey back I’m amazed at the people that felt like it was pointed to them. The whole reason for the video both mine and Robert’s was to help new channels figure out that some people pretend to be friends when they never have the intentions on doing more than using people. You guys are not or have never been like that.
This was another great video teaching folks how to pur away food for a later day. All that work now pays off later.
Great job
Thanks so much.. it's my PASSION.. putting up foods we grow or obtain.. for our tomorrow. i tell andy all the time... made with love for tomorrow's. :-D it's saved our hiney during the start of the lockdown thats for sure.
I have 4 bags in freezer of rice .
i am washing my jars and seals putting them in oven at 225 degrees for 60 min . Then following your methods
God bless you both and may Lord keep you both in his perfect health and happiness!!!
what a lovely comment to find. thank you AND HAPPY CANNING.

If not can you make one? We buy in bulk also and are preparing for when 💩 hits the fan. Much love to y'all. And thanks again.
