That's my problem right there shift drum. I'm still waiting to hear back from the transmission specialist to get a quote. I did replace everything in the transmission clutch, fork, slave cylinder, even hub as well and I also did relearn everything it passed so I took a road test all of the sudden it won't shift properly and no more reserve so I'm back in the same place where I can't use my car. Hi Ben Just in the process of changing the carrier bearing on my DPS6 but cannot find any info anywhere on setting the preload. Am I to presume I just use the shims already in place? Not able to find a proper service repair manual anywhere.
hello sir, very nice video, just wondering witch direction for the two clock gear at the bottom when you are install it in to the table? i can put both gear in either way witch is 90 degree off where the ram come up can you show me witch way is the correct way... thank you
I take the little clock gears out before installing the transmission onto the table. If you'd like to post pictures of what you're talking about, I've got a facebook group, link in the channel, and we'll be able to help.
Black seals are the old design. They are trash and leak fluid onto the clutch. The orange seals are the newest design and I've never seen one leak that was correctly installed.
So i swapped out the clutch drum and put everything back and not the car cranks but doesnt turn on or stay on. Just cranks. What do you think the issuse would be there?
You did a clutch job and it cranks no start? Check for unplugged vacuum lines, missing vacuum caps. If you pulled the intake manifold did you put the gaskets back on?
How do you diagnose this with the transmission in the car? I pulled the TCM to get access to the gears and rotate them by hand, but when I rotate there is some resistance. like a spongy resistance, not a dead stop and i am a bit hesitant to push past the resistance as I don't want to break anything. Any ideas on this?
That's a normal resistance feel. If you have a scan tool, try doing a clutch adaptive learn. If it passes, the case stops are OK. If it times out doing the neutral command step, the case stops are probably damaged
@@BigBensCarsAndCyclesThanks so much for all this info. There are a lot of us DPS6 folks out there that are trying to fix these without spending thousands and you are a life saver. I am using forscan and the one of the steps on the adpative learn has a progress bar that just continually resets. I let it run for 10-15 mins before I just cancelled it.
A new case half should be 300 to 500. And they'll charge the "overhaul" labor, which is around 16 to 18 shop hours. The labor rate depends on where you're located. Ballpark 2 to 3 grand

hi i have a ford focus from 2016 with powershift , drives perfektly but comes up with a p700 failcode and it only shift with padle the it goes away after some start and stop and drives perfektly the next 100 miles less ore more ? do you know this problem ?
I am requesting your help from Dubai, I have a Ford Figo with DPS6 gearbox the car goes into all the gears perfectly and moves at idle but the the car wont accelerate in gear the car. The rpms would increase in park or neutral but not in drive or reverse. Can anyone help please? No error codes. This problem started when the car was put on lift and shifted in drive then it was put down and gears stopped working.
@BigBensCarsAndCycles Do you have a part number for the Input shaft (closest to the engine) Ball Bearing by any chance? If you look it up online its really difficult to determine which is the right one. Thanks in advance.
I work on it and I drain the fluid … GUESS WHAT!!!!!????? Midas shop put WRONG FLUID …. It transmission fluid not gear oil cuz it RED coming out !!!!!!! MIDAS shop hired fake technician
My tranny is leaking some oil from the case pan , around the bolts under the bottom , what do you think it is ? Gasket sealer ? Or cn i use transmission stop leak ?

Hi there, really great video, I managed to break one of the two plastic feed tubes you showed at 06:18, is there a source where I can buy these from?
What is the input bearing number
This play list may save thousands of these transmissions. Thank for your time spent making a really understandable video.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad they're helping!
Thank you for the video, I would like to see a video of re assembling the transmission please
Next time I have the opportunity I'll definitely do that
Great video with all the information I needed. Really appreciate what you do!
You're welcome, happy to help!

Hello Ben. Have you done any video on the dct450 transmission as found in Focus 2.0 tdci? Cheers
Hi! Sorry no I haven't
Do you have a part number for the differential bearings?
@clemrod3273 this appears to be correct www.partsgeek.com/h32ftvq-ford-focus-auto-trans-differential-bearing.html

The shift drum manages the gear selection? I think I am wrong.
The shift drum rotates and moves shift forks to apply syncronizers
What’s the part number or applicable replacement for the input shaft bearing snap ring?
amzn.to/49rda0I
@@BigBensCarsAndCyclesthanks man! You’re a life saver and this video is stellar!
When u put the case back together, do you use sealant?
Yes, clean the case halves and use Motorcraft ta-16
What is the different between the black seal or the orange seal like you have? Mine is orange not black like i have seen others have ???
Black seals are the old design. They are trash and leak fluid onto the clutch. The orange seals are the newest design and I've never seen one leak that was correctly installed.
What bearing failed on this one?
one of the 3 output shaft bearings. check my video for used dps6 transmission inspection for more info on replacing them
Hello my car is not ship ting ger R can you give me solution
Take to the dealer for diagnosing, it may be a free tcm and not cost you anything

Check your grounds around the transmission. Mine did the same shit it was a bad ground. Though i did a trans swap not a clutch drum job
what years carried the black seal?
2012 to ~2015. But most of them have been replaced by now
@@BigBensCarsAndCycles you wouldn’t happen to have the part numbers for the new ones would you?

You might wanna rewrite this, It can't be understand whathappen at all. But you might wanna try elm327 with forscan and recalibrate the clutch first.
