Hey man I've watch all your videos and really appreciate the great tutorials. Question if you have the time On my son's 2015 Ford Fiesta SE I installed a new TCM thinking that was the issue took it to a local shop to flash it. that didn't fix the issue. I cleaned A and B actuators like in one of your videos and even replaced them but that didnt fix it so I removed the tranny. I installed new A and B forks, dual clutch, bearing and as I was unlocking the dual clutch I'm guessing the snap ring wasn't seated completely and it popped off. is it necessary since nothing moved to reset or relock the dual clutch and go through that procedure again? Mechanically I cant figure out why it would be but you've done 100 of these transmissions and wanted to get your input. I really dont want to spend the money for that tool but if it's necessary I will... be advise if you dont mind! i've already unwisely spent a bunch of money throwing parts at this at this point.. thanks man

Hi just replaced the forks and assembled everything. The calibration has been done successfully. The car has only 170k km and when I test drive it the transmission was slipping and get the codes p0707 and p2802 .Do you think the clutch can be bad ?I already replaced the position sensor from another Ford focus and Still get these faults .Please help Regards
I had one of these but I felt the transmission slipping so I got rid of it. Didn’t want it to be my problem. Had relatively low miles too around 40k. Ford knew that these transmissions were a problem too but still sold them. That’s crazy 😤
8:16 “It’s very rare for this transmission to fail.” I really hope you’re right. I have a 2017 Focus that I drive normal. Probably 60% is highway. But after getting it i’ve heard so many horror stories about Ford’s dual clutch transmissions. So far I’ve only had to have the TCM flashed once. 🤞🏾🤞🏾
i got 85000 on my 2015 randomly wont got into reverse now, check engine light actutor b i repalced it still nothing, i drive this car like a grandma@@L8R-HP
When removing tcm, I put a dot on the gears. Doesnt seem to make 6 or 4 complete revolutions. Maybe my finger is too weak. Could you make a short on what its supposed to look like? Mine seems to turn 3/4 -1 turn. Is there any spring back or spring forward from the gear?
Hi no fault codes but the trabsmission is slipping ....how is possible ?You mentioned from your experience that these clutches last a lot more than 170k km .....when is slipping most likely is worn clutch right ?Thanks
Hey man, first off thanks for these videos! They helped me a ton during my first time replacing clutch and forks on this transmission. Quick question though, I’m dealing with a no reverse P073E on a different transmission. Reverse seems to be there on start up but it doesn’t engage after driving around. I unplugged the actuators and found pretty good movement from the forks. They move perfectly smooth with no binding. Would I be able to remove the TCM to check if the tab broke off the case with the transmission on the car? Or would the transmission need to removed from the car to test for this? Hope to hear from you, thanks!
Hey there If you have a minute, maybe you can help me So I have no reverse. It barely goes back on a flat, also transmission is in trouble mode. Code says Module B and that's it, nothing else So I replaced bottom motor (element B ) - zero effect, spring look fine, it rotates back I opened up top motor - everything looks good, spring returns the gear to it's place, as it should be, nothing stuck I took out the TCM. Module looks fine - gears rotating freely. Return part is different: Top hole (probably responsible for motor A ) turn counterclock wise with no pressure. Clockwise - I feel spring that returns it. So I believe that's how it should be Bottom hole gear rotates freely counterclockwise, but doesn't move at all clockwise, when reaches the limit. I don't feel any spring, it just stuck and doesn't move Probably this is the issue or is it normal? If this is case i believe I need to take the transmission out and tear it appart to reach that gear?
I wanted to know if you could give me some advice on my 2012 ford focus. It was having intermittent problems going into gear and sometimes it wouldn't do anything when attempting to started it. Took it to the dealer and they replaced a fuel pressure sensor. I continued having problems and the dealer finally told me I needed a new transmission. The car sat on my driveway for months because it didn't want to start anymore. We eventually disconnected the batter to recharge it because it was dead and didn't put it back on. We saw a video on youtube where you would remove the top and bottom actuators to clean the inside with brake cleaner and work the clutch with a tool while cleaning it and then lubricated it with wd40. We connected the battery back and started hearing the transmission make noises like it was shifting and then it would stop. After that, the car would start but it wouldn't go into gear. Do you think it needs reprogramming because we had the battery off for quite some time or could it be something else. When the dealer told us that it needed a fuel pressure sensor they mentioned that there weren't any other codes that came out during the diagnostic. After we continued having problems thats when they said we needed a new transmission. I started thinking that they were just guessing and didn't want to deal with it anymore. Any advice you could give me on this is greatly appreciated.
I think this is the problem with the transmission on my Focus. No reverse. But moves forward in some kind of limp mode. A warning light comes on to service the transmission and the car drive3s ok. Not perfect but ok. No reverse though.
My DPS6 in my 16 Focus SE 2.0 L is slipping badly and well changing out a couple external clutch actuators won't help will they ? Another Ford tech saying I should buy that special tool to put in the actuator sockets and give it about 11 turns to turn fork the correct way and changing out the two external ones would be a temporary fix if that . I get the transmission overheating warning light but no codes . I used to get the code for trans electrical system but I cleaned both the contact surfaces of grounds to bare metal and haven't seen that code anymore . Or Im considering a manual trans swap . Getting used basic five speed less expensive one than six speed performance trans swapping out the auitomatic that's faulty . What do you think ?
I’m fixing my neighbors 2013 focus. They said it broke while changing the battery. I assume the PCM motor is strong enough to break those tabs. I put a new transmission housing but when in park I can’t turn it all the way. I hear a click inside and then I can’t turn it anymore. I would have to move shifter lever out of park then I can turn it again a few degrees then same thing I hear clicks and it locks up
So my car will sometimes act up and like start rev bombing and sometimes like shift harsh or not even want to shift to pull hills and sometimes gets stuck in neatral but when I disconnect my battery and reconnect it runs fine for like another 10 minutes
Having trouble with severe shudder in 2012 focus. Took the A and B actuators off and cleaned. B will spring return from cou ter clockwise. A will not on its own? Are they both supposed to?
Did you ever happen to get an answer? I’m having the same thing happen to me in between first and second gear. 2012 Focus SE 119,500miles. Usually when I start driving off a red light. Going up hill makes it worse. Did you ever find a solution?
2015 Focus, New Clutch, Forks, slave bearing. Reprogrammed adaptive learning touch points, drum,... everything reported as OK, reprogramming rekearn was successful. YET ! TRANSMISSION Is stuck in unintended Neutral, car rolls in park and still No reverse No drive. How do I get it back in park and drive gears ?
Quick question buddy, is there a way that the forks need to be adjusted? Having trouble getting the clutches seated deep enough to talk the snap ring. I do not have special tools.
Quick question you might be able to help me with I have a 2014 I replaced actuator B with a no reverse and actuator B code replaced with OEM Ford part everything worked fine if you leave it idling with the air running and let it get to temperature when you go to leave there is no reverse. It throws no codes but if you let it cool down, it will go in reverse, is this a known issue? Maybe something as simple as the actuators cycle them clean them with some brake clean or something and maybe shoot some PB blaster or some other type of lubricant up in there? I would imagine it’s worth a shot just wondering if you’ve ever ran into this issue thank you in advance.
I've got a 2016 Ford Focus Hatchback 2.0 Engine. Code P090C for Clutch Actuator B Low Voltage. I replaced Actuator B with a new one from the Ford Dealer in my area. Issue is still there. My conclusion was the TCM. I got my TCM replaced at the Ford Dealer under warranty. However, the issue is still there. The technician at the dealer told me that I need a new transmission. My question is, should I replace the forks and the clutch, or should I just get a new used transmission with low miles. My vehicle has 135k.
@schmick63 the rear main seal was leaking causing the transmission to overheat. I replaced the clutch, forks, actuators, and TCM myself and called it a day. The focus drives like brand new now. Also, I replaced the rear main seal as well.
Hello, do you recomand a software update for these transmision? Is it needed, after the update, to make the relearn and for the transmision to start making the adaptive learning? The transmision has no isue. Focus 2015.
When that tab snaps, does it always result in no reverse? I have a focus that won't learn calibration, and fails at neutral shaft learn, everytime. Making me nervous, when yours fails at the same time. I ordered a new tcm, and will manually turn the gears, when I remove my old tcm, hopefully it stops. I'm praying, anyways.
I got one I’m pulling my hair out with, clutch A fork was stuck. Replace the clutch, both forks, and actuators, with all new Ford parts. Put the car together and it won’t re-learn the clutch A touch point… and when you put it in reverse it, starts to back up until you fully come off the brake pedal then it lunges foreword and stalls… have you seen that before?
Could you please let me know what's going on: I turn the bolt the actuator turns and it doesn't spring back. I can turn the bolt in either direction infinitly, it feels like the bolt is not moving the fork forward or back at all. Does this mean it is fully extended and disengaged? Is it stripped? Snapped? Other? Thank you so much.
@@L8R-HP Thank you for the reply. I agree it likely needs replaced, but do you happen to know of a creative way to get the threads to engage again so I can manually turn the fork back to the fully retracted state? potentially remove the actuator nut and pull it back? use a pick to pull it back? drill a hole and push the fork down with a screwdriver from the outside? Thank you so much again.
I have a 2012 focus It had all the tcm codes and bad shudder eventually would shift into neutral while in drive and will not start once shut off. I already replaced the tcm twice and also did the dual clutch kit and was able to do the tcm relearn and the car now drives flawlessly but will still kick into neutral and not start unless the battery is disconnected for an hour. So frustrating!!
Great videos. Have a 2012 Focus I bought off a guy and has a brand new TCM he says he ordered off of Amazon on it, well it starts and runs but will not perform all three stages of the relearn, I have his original tcm i tried to throw back on it to see if i could relearn it but the car would not even attempt to start the dash lights would turn on, I also tried another tcm i had and it also would not start with it either, however if i put the new tcm he had on it from Amazon, it will start. Any ideas that could help me with this. Thx
I just did one where it was rebuilt and Reverse works but 1st gear sometimes jerks when shifting and 3rd gear is more so but it's random. Do you think there's an Internal Problem? My car starts and runs but won't reverse or drive. It jumped into drive and moved forward but wouldn't go then now it won't go into drive or reverse anymore. new battery. Cleaned the actuators rotated em counterclockwise. I'm at a loss at this point for what's wrong.

the retaining clips are for shipping only. they are supposed to be removed after they are installed, i dont believe they will work while they are in. did you try to see if they work after they were removed?
I think thats why they are in to prevent them from moving and i guess damage before they are put in.
not totally sure.
Yes for shipping only. Not only they didn’t remove them but the jammed them in there when trying to move the forks and broke both of them
Love the videos, I have a 15 & 16 focus mine 120k All OEM hers us on 3rd clutch. Mine just recently threw a code for p0452 so have to look into that as not sure where to look and gravel snow covered driveway mech.
I really dont want to spend the money for that tool but if it's necessary I will... be advise if you dont mind! i've already unwisely spent a bunch of money throwing parts at this at this point.. thanks man

@L8R-HP what do you think about the clutch slipping do you think can be a worn clutch is it possible to have this condition because of bad sensors ?
I had one of these but I felt the transmission slipping so I got rid of it. Didn’t want it to be my problem. Had relatively low miles too around 40k. Ford knew that these transmissions were a problem too but still sold them. That’s crazy 😤
8:16 “It’s very rare for this transmission to fail.” I really hope you’re right. I have a 2017 Focus that I drive normal. Probably 60% is highway. But after getting it i’ve heard so many horror stories about Ford’s dual clutch transmissions. So far I’ve only had to have the TCM flashed once. 🤞🏾🤞🏾
It’s almost never the TCM problem. It’s the forks

Clutch is skipping it’s getting hot 🥵. Need to replace forks and the clutch
@L8R-HP yep I replaced the forks but kept the original clutch
Hi I have a 2014 ford focus with the identical problem described in this video. Stuck in gear, no reverse. Don't drive much, 54,000 miles.
Also, it’s able to do all the adaptive learning with no issues
I had those metal tabs on the forks I ordered from Ford. They are to hold it from flopping during shipping.
👍😀 ok so those were ford OEM parts then. Thank you!
Hey there
If you have a minute, maybe you can help me
So I have no reverse. It barely goes back on a flat, also transmission is in trouble mode.
Code says Module B and that's it, nothing else
So I replaced bottom motor (element B ) - zero effect, spring look fine, it rotates back
I opened up top motor - everything looks good, spring returns the gear to it's place, as it should be, nothing stuck
I took out the TCM. Module looks fine - gears rotating freely. Return part is different:
Top hole (probably responsible for motor A ) turn counterclock wise with no pressure. Clockwise - I feel spring that returns it. So I believe that's how it should be
Bottom hole gear rotates freely counterclockwise, but doesn't move at all clockwise, when reaches the limit. I don't feel any spring, it just stuck and doesn't move
Probably this is the issue or is it normal?
The forks in your trans are sticking. Need to be cleaned or replaced
Hi and thanks for your very helpful videos.. I got 2012 focus with transmission code says can’t engage gear 2 What do you think that could be ?
I think this is the problem with the transmission on my Focus. No reverse. But moves forward in some kind of limp mode. A warning light comes on to service the transmission and the car drive3s ok. Not perfect but ok. No reverse though.
Great video! Any advice where I can start ? My 2013 Ford Fiesta is stuck on park. It starts but won’t get get out of park.
Hey buddy you solve your problem or not because i am facing same problem with my focus 2011
Yes I had to replace the TMC and then get it programmed.
They are both supposed to return on their own. If they don’t, lube them up and see if they free up. If not they need to be replaced
Did you ever happen to get an answer? I’m having the same thing happen to me in between first and second gear. 2012 Focus SE 119,500miles. Usually when I start driving off a red light. Going up hill makes it worse.
Did you ever find a solution?
So the vibration could be because of the clutch not being set correctly? Or lined up evenly?

Quick question buddy, is there a way that the forks need to be adjusted? Having trouble getting the clutches seated deep enough to talk the snap ring. I do not have special tools.
You have to reset the clutch, or it won’t work.
OEM have those clips too, every fork i got from ford has had them
Oem for sure. But not all aftermarket
Could you drill a hole through the housing and fabricate a nut and bolt to do the same job 🤷🏼♂️😁👍

Check the wiring and grounds, it's an electrical code
I think you installed the forks in the wrong side. I learned the hard way.
Could you please let me know what's going on:
I turn the bolt the actuator turns and it doesn't spring back. I can turn the bolt in either direction infinitly, it feels like the bolt is not moving the fork forward or back at all.
Does this mean it is fully extended and disengaged? Is it stripped? Snapped? Other?
Thank you so much.
That fork needs to be replaced
That TCM might need to be reprogrammed.
Clean the actuators though for real that helped with me
