    The caterpillar really is an amazing ship! I love it so much. Drake ships in general really hold a special place in my heart, they remind me of the early concepts of star citizen, that old and almost musty atmosphere of design style, one of my favourite feelings. Industrial ships in this game really are something else, and in my opinion really show the lived in part of this game.

    From what I've determined so far, bed logging is the key to getting the RMC to not show up as stolen. You don't have to change servers, just log out and back in. It's worked every time so far, and I have now come to preemptively bed log on my way to the TDD. This bug only occurs when using a cargo ship to sell the salvage, selling it straight from the vulture never causes this. -BenChillin

    • @AronStamnes
      @AronStamnes Год назад +4

      Can you use this technique to fill up a cargo ship with 2 or more different vultures? Like for exampel 4 guys with vultures filling up one catterpillar, can the pilot of the catterpillar bedlog to sell the cargo and share the profitt without getting stolen cargo?

  • @thomasmitchell4155
    @thomasmitchell4155 Год назад +3

    In regards to the RMC that was no sellable at the TDD. It is possible that during the incident where one of the party members got injured by a box, the cargo that was moved to the freelancer was considered stolen because of the temporary criminal status that was given by the member's downed state and connected bodily harm charge before the charge where declined.
    Unfortunately, there is very little official documentation (that I could find) explaining in detail the different cargo-selling factors that effect whether cargo is legal or considered stolen within party gameplay.

    I have a Freelancer (normal). you absolutely can stack 3 high in the main cargo area, AND you can stack 3 high in the secondary (Inner) compartment. You can tractor or hand carry SCU into the smaller compartment, you just have to hold 'R' to rotate the boxes so that the smaller side of each box is going through the door first.

    2 weeks old, but Vulture's have a Gimble with the miners (press G). Also hold Left Alt and mouse wheel till .10 or .12 (holding left alt and right clicking changes the beams from being vertical or horizontal and the wheel will space them apart or together.), this separates the beams more so their salvage radiuses aren't overlapping, you'll gather more faster.

    Great Video again, can't wait to be able to get a Caterpillar, By far an excellent cargo mover and unload and loader, love its design and it's very down to basics feel and great view out the tracker beam control area, built tough enough to get the job done and then more. I could see in the future besides the Vultures working on stripping alone a few people with the hand tools that are going to come into game play, You could use it as a space strip shop, I know they have a larger tractor beam gun coming so I am assuming they will have a hull stripping gun going into a backpack or feeding directly to a SCU container machine similar to the Vulture, 2 or 3 people then the could collect the hull pieces onto the Caterpillar pulling up to a savage site and using the tractor beams to pull in small or large hull sections into a bay depending on if the vultures are there as well as the vultures helping with using there tractor beams and start stripping them down like a mobil body shop in space and then storing the SCU cargo in the next bay and so on, When the vultures are done helping collect the small pieces, then they either strip the larger pieces or look for the next site to find for scrap. Seems like you need about 1 cargo handler between 2 vultures, to keep them moving lol, I noticed that you avoid making contact with the ships so as not to damage either ship, seemed like at odd angles the tracker beam constantly was hitting the interior and had trouble controlling the box, Wouldn't it be easier to get the vulture at the same level and straight back square to the cargo hold? Or was it just to maximize the time and not really necessary to have it that close? I have never done ship to ship tractor beam cargo movement ,that's why I am asking ,I not criticizing. I have a freelancer Max and it's very nice,it fits 108 in the back cargo hold, with that and the 25 each Vulture can hold that would be a total of 158 SCU = 1,195,428 Credits that's pretty good for 1 trip all 3 ships.I think that works. the MAX also has an additional 12 SCU in the 2nd cargo section which should have a decompression locking door thats big enough for a cargo container to fit through but it's not at this time, hopefully this will change in the Gold standard, but I beleive that will become the new EVA area with suit lockers and storage in the airlock section, docking collar,which is a huge upgrade for game play. The ship is suppose to also get wider all the way down the length of the hull, could be from from 1/2 SCU to possible 2 SCU in width, the main cargo area will be around 96 SCU to 144 SCU depending on the rework as for me I think by making the rear a 2 SCU wide, even losing a whole front row in the main cargo hold area of 12, you will pick up an additional 48 SCU in length of the ship now that its wider making it more viable to maintain a decent cargo capacity. If it ended up being 96 SCU, it would be to much of a loss and it loses the go between of the bigger hauling ships. The cockpit will be more along the line of the Hull A cockpit window view with a 3 person triangle pilot front and center all the way to the front window, two other seats to left back and right back of the pilots seat still with complete window view all around, proper eating and living area,Bathroom ,shower and bunks for 3 people instead of 4, I can't wait for this I hope they don't botch this one, Us Freelancer, DUR, MAX, MiSS.owners have been waiting a long time for the rework. BTW grats a on the 400 i win ,best of luck on your journeys. Keep up the great work, loving it all and good team work from your org. You should all be proud, I know we are, you all show us the way to achieve even greater exploits in Star Citizen and make it more than what it appears on the surface. See you in the verse.

    Great video, love the shot of the cat with the doors open and the ones with the vultures pulled up to the doors. Looked like what I imagine a real crew would look like. Another ship that I think will shine in group salvaging is the Constellation Taurus once its tractor turret becomes a thing that actually works. You can scoot up to a Vulture and suck those boxes right out of its cargo bay and stack in on your ramp without ever having to leave your ship and with two people manning the Taurus you can get combat ready with a not inconsiderable amount of firepower very quickly in an emergency.
    The Caterpillar has more cargo space but just filling up the Taurus with 3 Vultures could still take several hours.

    Wow the cat is so useful for that task! I was thinking you were mistaken and that a C2 would be more useful as you can load from both ends, and maybe it is when you only have two vultures, but nothing else could have handled 6 vultures so easily.
    We don't know yet how the loading equipment will work at major stations but just imagine how useful it will be if the Cat is able to load & unload every bay simultaneously while the C2 can only load from the front & back.

    I feel seen on the drake comments, lol! One of your m8s mentioned the vulture needs a bunkbed. Again, you need a corsair or two in that operation. They can act as quarters for players , lookouts, scouts, and can be a temporary hold while the catapillar returns to sell. I think it would really optimize the operation and allow for deep space long haul salvage ops.

  • @timothyt.82
    @timothyt.82 Год назад

    Ideally, you'd also want a Cutlass or two to run defense and also add more storage to your haul. You could bring some Buccaneers to add some more firepower and a Cutter to go to and from the local station in case anyone needs food, water, or a hospital trip. A Cutlass Red could also help with less serious injuries.
    Drake ships are seriously built to be versatile and have good synergy between them.

    i had a questional encounter with some stranger a few patches ago, he was in need of a freight ship and i had my cat at hand.
    i arrived at his location (relatively near karea) and there where a LOT of cargo boxes flying in the midst of space (back when there where still ship dropable boxes, yes a lot of patches ago), i and he started hand throwing the free floating boxes into the cargo hold so we could later on cram it inside his ship (avenger titan) until i had the genious idea to simply use the cat as a sort of comb and moove sideways with the according side of freight ramps open to catch most of the boxes in a low effort sweep, the remqaining ones where too scattered around and we had a second round at cargoholdball. to have an easier transpher of the crates we landed on the planet and mooved most inside his ship, a few remained as my share, we tried to sell it but 1. it was something so low in value noone wanted it and secondly either bug or stolen goods where already somewhat implemented.
    anyway i tried to appropriately dispose of the cargo of course ( blocking an entry way in port olisar) sadly a game crash did prevent it i think... it was a long time ago so i don't remember.
    Cats definetly a fun ship and i fell in love with its observatory, sadly the cargo bays are just too small to land any reasonable spacecraft inside or else i'd have used it as a pocket carrier already. Luckily i gotten that one, a reclaimer(i had the chance to upgrade a vulture and so i did a few years back), by now a liberator, and a constellation with lti so i hope there will be a lot more of those stories ahead, good luck to you, im out

    Star Citizen is getting so amazing lately. I've played since 2014 and it's really starting to come together, and still the majority of their resources are working on SQ42, I can't imagine once that's done or wrapping up how fast SC will move. I don't like to be overly optimistic, I long ago told myself that if SC crashes and burns I'll be fine with it, its all been worth it just for wat we've got so far. But it is amazing that almost 10 years in and SC still amazes me as if I just discovered it.

    I love series style videos I only pray that once (if) they add prospector saddlebag detachment in 3.19 you and your org does a similar series where you can push the possibilities of gameplay as you always have.
    One more thing, with the itemport tractor beaming shenanigans, you could theoretically keep the ballista always stocked up with missiles and do some crazy air area denial. Not to mention restocking an all ballistic centurion using all ballistic corsair running "ammo" for it. I can't wait for skunks dominating new JT!

    I have found that you can sell at the TDD if you are a party member with the 'legal' owner. So the real problem was that you were no longer in a party with the person who had to log out.

    I've come to the conclusion that this is definitely the way Vultures work great and Reclaimers work best for bigger wrecks, as moving that behemoth around for panels is cumbersome. Great video again.

    hud will show the stats of the chinch if it changes. for ex. watch the diameter of beam switch from 3.5 to 1.5 even though it says abrade. also the freelancer misc does stack three high! and you can get the boxes threw that door. just had to try, frustration clouded judgment

    Something I would love to see, when possible of course. Doing this and having your org plan an attack on the group doing salvaging with a protection crew around.

    i fully agree with the lights comment, the lights on an industrial ship should light it up!!! The darkest stormy night should be day, real world examples are multiple floods etc would be great to have that eventually and fix lights on msr and scorp while your at it lol. thanks for the great content!

    They need to put industrial lights on the top of the ship like farm equipment
    Oh. I have seen someone do medium service or high level beacons then salvage them. They got lots of salvage them.

    If they add an automated loading where you place the box in a designated area and the ship will stack the boxes it will increase the margins. Of course you will need to outfit the ship with such a system.
    One can only hope

    The Cat does appear to be ideal for this. But for those building up their fleet, I would think that something like a Cutty could be filled up, sell the load, and be back before the Vulture is full again.

      depending on how many vultures are in the group, maybe even a hull A or two for the fast loading with the external grid
