I really like how the mother can easily redirect Craig towards a positive area focus, I work with children with special needs and sometimes redirecting them when their upset can be a difficult and tedious task.... But as caregivers and teachers we learn different techniques that can redirect a potential aggressive or negative behavior... Good job Mom and Dad

Agreed! I was thinking the same. Its clear the parents set clear limits too and back them up as well to decrease interfering behaviors. You could tell when mom reminded Craig that dad said they would go home with no computer if he continued to talk about it they were definitely going to follow through by Craig's reaction . Great job, like you said!

Absolutely love Joe! I aspire to be a father figure in his image. How he was able to come up with such a fun alternative for Craig was very admirable. Such an amazing family and kind to EVERYONE! I’m sure it was not an easy road for either parent and figuring out how to navigate around Craig’s emotions and keep him as wonderful as he is, but man do y’all make it look easy. So patient and understanding. I have had small exposure with autism when growing up but never fully understood what goes on in the family life and everything it takes to stay functioning. Glad I found your channel, you’ve made a new Craig and Fam fan for life!

I have Autism. I am luckily able to live with my partner who helps me. I have a really hard time with letting go of things once I get them in my head, especially disappointments, or sudden changes in plans. It feels very difficult to stop thinking about them, and I get this overwhelming feeling. I wonder what works for Craig? And if it may help me. I think if I was in this scenario, it’d be hard for me to let it go.
You sound exactly like Craig in that respect. It is very hard for him to let go of the disappointment and I thank you for explaining it so well! We have to help him get over it by redirecting him to something else. We try different things to help with the disappointment like using self talk or offering alternatives. It’s always difficult. I honestly don’t know how he would get over the disappointments without our help and support.

Craig, you did super well dealing with the disappointment of Adventureland! Here's kind of a funny in-reverse story: we had a similar experience but with Bass Pro Shops not being open when we thought it would be! :D We live in MN and the closest (newest) one opened about an hour away and we didn't even have a good Plan B because it's in a small town, ha! Can't wait to watch the vlog when you do get to Adventureland.

@Autism: Our Daily View I understand. I believe that I mentioned to you before that my 2 grandnieces have autism and sometimes you just have to ride the wave. I truly believe that kids would love to sit and listen to Craig. His voice is very soothing. He is also very animated and would keep the little ones interested in his reading.

I grew up going to Bass Pro in Illinois and Iowa...a lot lol My dad fished in bass tournaments and we shopped at the Malls around also 😂

Good call on stopping the disappointment talk about adventure land in it's tracks, we do that because it almost always never ends well. Craig seems to feel deeply like our boy, fair play to Joe on coming up with plan B. Disappointment is so hard 😔, on Mama too as you have to help him regulate, been there many many times ❤.

I wanted to throw this in there in case anyone wanted to know. I found out recently that if you have the hiccups, and you remind yourself that you aren't a fish (weird I know just trust me), your hiccups will disappear.
I've been doing it to myself and using it on other people and it actually works and I'm shocked by the results.
We will have to try that!

Wow, I can't believe they aren't open yet! They've always opened at the end of April for the weekends. This was the first year we decided not to get season passes after not liking some of the changes the new owners made. We opted for worlds of fun instead and have already made the money back in visits.
Everyone that I talk to is surprised that they weren’t open. Worlds of fun sounds like a great idea!
They have a nice jump the line add on to the passes. Even with that tacked on for one of us, we still spent less than passes for Aland.
@@ourdailyview Lost Island up in Waterloo is also really fun too. We went there one of the first weekends their theme park opened last year.

my brother has tourrettes and other developmental disabilities but he wouldv'e reacted by cursing and blaming my parents for not making sure it was open, I know it seems like Craig gets loud but id rather much take that then the cursing, its seems like craig doesnt curse which is so wonderful that he doesnt resort to that stuff. Love your videos! and im glad yall were able to end up having a great day!
Craig almost never swears. He did say one swear word that day lol. I let it slide because I felt like saying one myself lol. The utter disappointment was so sad. I even tried to get Craig to blame me but he put a curse on Adventureland instead 😂

My husband loves Bass Pro Shop, talk about a kid in a candy store! It is a pretty cool store, but the ones ive been in didnt have a nice snack shop like that.

What did you do with all the Indian artifacts your dad collected?
We use to find a lot as kids. I have a lot of cherokee indian river cane baskets , pottery, carvings etc since I live next to Cherokee nc.
That is like something that would happen to me. I remember when vacation came out and seeing it at movie theater. Loved it!
After my parents died we auctioned the artifacts and we all bought some from the auction as it was too hard to split the collection between 4 siblings. It was pretty cool because a guy that used to hunt artifacts with my dad bought most of the collection. ❤
Im glad it worked out well and went to a good home.
Might end up in a museum one day with such a huge collection now that it’s combined with the new owners . That’s so neat about your dad being such an outdoor enthusiast.
