      I’ll have a video out in the next few weeks discussing this. I want to get through more cooks on it first. So far I love the front access grease trap and the fact that it’s under the griddle so the cover doesn’t get hung on it. I love the lid and how easy it is to lift and how it moves out of the way.

    Never had the Weber. Looks nice. Haf a Blackstone and hated it. Went with the Traeger Flat grill. Its a good one.

    I love my Blackstone. Mostly because I got a 4 burner for less than $300 around Labor Day last year. Weber makes legit stuff but the price point is my biggest deterrent.

    I'd pay the extra if it solved the uneven temperature problem. Difference in temp from front to back and over the third burners is way too much on my Members Mark, like 325 vs 415 and that is with all burners set the same.

    Wanted to like this since its way cheaper than the Traeger but on The flat top king review he measured inconsistent heat across the griddle, cold spots that wouldn't toast bread on high, and the temp only measures the absolute center. Maybe next year webber, fix your griddle!

      I’m not sure you will find any griddle that truly has perfect heat distribution since the hottest spot will always be directly over the heat source.

    I really like your new Weber! Congratulations! I enjoy your how to videos. I have a BS that I got from Lowes. It’s a 36” but just seems cheap. I’m very disappointed. Hoping to get a Weber when I can save up a little money.

    I've been thinking about getting a Blackstone for awhile bc I make a lot of smash burgers and tacos. I've just been using a stove top griddle but I always end up with a messy stove. Getting a bs would make clean up so much easier and I would have a lot more cooking space so I don't need to do so many batches. I wanna get the Weber bc I love my Weber kettle but it's a bit outside my budget 😂

      Yes! The Weber is best but check FB Marketplace and get one you can afford for now.

      @@GrillThisSmokeThat oh great idea! I actually got my kettle on fb marketplace and I'm so glad I did. I got a green premium kettle that was a little beat up for only $25. Then I just got new grates and spent a couple days scrubbing it down and reseasoning it. It looks really good now. Literally the best money I've ever spent.

    So I saw in another video that you apply avocado oil after each use. How often do you redo this full seasoning process (minus the soapy water)?

      Never. Once it’s seasoned properly and cleaned correctly after each use, you should really never need to intentionally reseason it.

    Can’t decide between this version or the Slate. Slate doesn’t have as even heat distribution but it is rust proof. What’s your opinion?

    How does it do against rust? I have a blackstone that has been outside with a cover over it and it’s a mess. I know I can reseason it but I’m not sure if it’s worth the effort

      If you don’t leave a coat of wet oil on it then it will rust.

    How has the lid been being right next to the griddle? I like the idea of having it connected to the grill but I wonder if oil splatters on to it or make a mess? Just a question

      I love how the lid slides out of the way. I didn’t have any issues with grease splatters.

    I’m not a big fan of cooking but do love good food…with that said…never understood these flat top units. Isn’t it just like putting a frying pan on a grill? And with this unit there’s no actual grilling over an open flame option. Any thoughts? Thanks

      I think you need a charcoal grill and a griddle. This is the same concept as a pan on a stove or on a grill but is a much larger surface so you can cook multiple things at the same time.

    Any advice between getting a dedicated Weber griddle unit versus getting a griddle insert for existing genesis II grill? I do have the space but just wondering if the dedicated griddle unit provides that much more value vs Weber griddle insert

      I haven’t used the insert but I assume the dedicated unit just has more even heat distribution.

    I saw what you did with the seasoning. You put the spoon on it to melt it and then it slides right off. I am going to use that trick.

      You can really use any cooking oil, but this time I used the seasoning that came with the Weber.

    I just ordered my first griddle but have a question. If you only use it 1-2 times a week should you still put oil on it after using it? Just not sure about the oil just sitting there for days lol.

      I don’t think so but I never checked. You can always use a flat washer.

      I use a canvas cover over the whole thing. That will help prevent dust and other things off of it. It also protects the whole thing from sun damage.

      It doesn’t. You have to cook with wood or charcoal to achieve a Smokey flavor.

      @@GrillThisSmokeThat The first time we used it an error code came up on the right side and it stopped working. For whatever reason you had to electrically plug this grill in. From what I understand they have discontinued that. But after inspection, the box of the part you plug in had completely melted. Having to plug a grill in is completely stupid. Why they ever thought that was a good idea is beyond me. But...I did like some of its features. The trash bag holder and paper towel holder was very handy.

    we bought the black stone and noticed that the cooking surface is not level! it rocks back and forth contemplating taking it back and we have herd from others they have the same problem. does the weber have this problem??

      Front grease trap is great. Even heat and you can actually cook on low without it getting up over 400.

    Wow. Awesome griddle. I was wondering about all the people complaining about the uneven temperature distribution. Why should that really matter (as long as you know where your hot zones are)?? It's not like you're smoking a frickin' brisket on that thing. Imho that's not a deal breaker at all.

    We got one for my dad for Christmas and we were so excited to use it we fucked up the initial seasoning. First we put way too much oil, and didn’t know how to clean it at the time. No matter how many how to videos I watch mine never comes out the way it looks in videos.
    I started working in a kitchen recently and we use a grill brick to clean the flat top. Anyone know if it’s ok to use one on the Weber griddle? I know commercial and the Weber griddles are made out of different metals so idk if it’ll be safe for the Weber.

    How much gas do you have going? I feel like my griddle is too hot even on low

      I had that issue with my Blackstone. Low was still over 400° so I had to alternate burners and cycle them on and off. That doesn’t seem to be a problem with the Weber.

      I say yes due to the oils left on it to protect it during shipping and you also don’t want the factory grime sealed in

      They sure do! You don’t want it to rust in the meantime though. Starting with a solid coat of seasoning using pure oil helps with longevity.

      I got it directly from Weber for testing purposes. They are $579 I think.

      That is for their new Slate griddle. I personally always add additional seasoning to any “preseasoned” pan though.

      Webers come preseasoned so the zones won’t be as evident.

      The Webers are preseasoned as well. I just like to add additional layers. The newest Weber is also rust resistant. Camp Chef does make a great product too.

      No. Very minimal smoke unless you have the heat above the smoke point of the oil you use.

      It says you’re not supposed to. I’ve closed one for a few seconds to melt cheese before, but I wouldn’t leave it down too long.

    Bro had a perfectly fine blackstone…. This is a major problem with “content creators” and products.
    Now Joe with his Blackstone and Traeger doesn’t have the newest coolest thing… gotta have the Weber/Traeger combo now.. because brands…

      The Blackstone was “fine”. You are correct. My brother is going to enjoy it now. The Weber solved some of the issues I had with Blackstones so I took the opportunity to test one out. It hasn’t disappointed. I also don’t have a Traeger…

      So do Lodge cast iron pans but I’ve never felt the seasoning was sufficient.

      The 2023 model comes preseasoned but still needs a few more coats in my opinion. The 2024 Slate model is different.

    I just don’t get the allure of,these griddles..I’m not going outside to make breakfast or fried rice or whatever. If they mad it as an accessory insert to the grill I already have then I’d consider it, but to go out and buy a completely separate piece of cooking equipment just to make smash burgers or whatever seems like a waste

      Most of the Pitboss griddles now come with a nonstick coating. I’m not a fan.
