@@Jj_fu I totally agree with you especially since we lost an amazing person and people wanna forgot about that and people wanna get mad over an joke
Was this on Twitter??
Let’s not forget how men use “being for the streets” as a derogatory term for women who date.
I'm a girl and we refer to men as 'being for the streets' too... and we call them fuckboys so people need to chill out with this unequal bs.... maybe you and yours aren't equal but I'm more than happy to call a guy a slut or a bitch. The only derogatory words that I don't use for both genders are 'douche' and 'fuckboy' and those are reserved for boys so who's the one getting unfair treatment really? Men are sexualized on a level that me as a female would neverrrr be and people just laugh and go along with it. Can you imagine telling a girl to take her shit off in front of a crowd of people and then having a bunch of guys scream and try and touch you.... that's what hot male celebs deal with and nobody gives a crap about them. People need to decide if they wanna be equal or if they wanna be SPECIAL because women already get far more respect in these times than guys do and guys have freaking feelings too and feel uncomfortable. Taylor Swift is an emotional greedy ass bitch. Who has freaking time to feel bad for that billionaire getting her rich ass feelings hurt.... NOBODY
@@zarablue2020 VERY INTELLIGENT COMMENT! Been waiting for someone to finally say it for years. Another part of it is that social media apps like tiktok literally mainstream women's rights or feminist acts so much that if a man or young man we're to comment on it, we'd just get a lot of shit about how we don't understand their pain and we should just stfu. It's sad, which is why I try to avoid those types of conversations because people aren't ready to forgive and listen, they just want everything to go their way. We can't be equal if we're all constantly blaming one another and telling each other certain problems don't matter just because they don't concern you as a person.
If I was in Taylor’s position I would’ve said the same thing. Imagine watching a show and they insult you in a joke. It’s a simple call out with a simple reply. The drama isn’t there. She doesn’t have to consider it a compliment or be above it. If she’s got the privilege to stand up for herself why wouldn’t she?

Racism is a big problem among swifties but that is applicable to all fandoms out there and no other celebrity like Taylor should be held responsible for her fans actions.
FACTS
Not Taylor’s Skype camera turned off 😂
As a black Swiftie, I feel like Taylor is probably tired of that joke of her dating many men and people always criticizing her for writing songs about her relationships when her male counterparts do the same thing and none of them ever gets criticized for that or for even dating. But I do feel like the fandom took the situation out of proportion by spamming stuff where it did not apply. Swifties never should have harassed or attacked the people that were involved in the show. But in my opinion, the show is not that good anyway. Did you all not see that olympics oppression scene???? It was just so wrong for that. Anyway. These are just my thoughts.
I respectfully disagree. I like the show (yes that Olympic oppression scene was a mess) but I think it’s entertaining. Also Taylor is somewhat at fault as well. Like she’s worth $365 million dollars, has one of the most successful music careers of the generation, and is engaged to the love of her life. Why the hell is she worried about some bad joke on a teen show! She clearly got trigged by the joke and instead of handling the situation appropriately, she used her privilege and power to make the show all about her & take away from the important topics that were being discussed on the series! Like the show had been out for 7-8 days and now all of a sudden everyone has a problem with it! Also the fact that she hasn’t condemn the racist actions of her fans who have been sending racist comments to the lead black actresses account for days now & disrespected Chadwick Boseman is absolutely ridiculous.
I think outside of the way it sometimes handles race in a cringe way, the show is good. Ginny was being rude and a brat when she made that comment. She’s literally 15 thinking she’s cool disrespecting her mum. It wasn’t intended to be a good clawback that made everyone laugh it was literally meant to show her sexism. Yeah I get how it might hurt when you’re name is called out but she definitely misrepresented the line in the context of the show and destroyed it for them. It’s actually anti sexist she could’ve spoken with them directly and said she didn’t appreciate it. Calling them sexist and effectively black listing a show that is diverse, with female writers and directors etc. Is hypocritical to me
What does you being black have to do with anything
The swifties are spamming Antonia Gentry ( the leading black actress), Swifts ignorance on race seeps into her fans who think they are being righteous when they are being racist little shits.
I honestly cannot name another major popstar (male or female) who has built their career of writing singles about their multiple exes, but that’s just me.
Zac put the disclaimer UPFRONT 😂😂

@@ayeshaarshad5096 It’s not fucked up because Ginny wasn’t malicious when she said that line and were talking about Ginny not anyone else who has spoke on that line so there’s no need to try to make this about others who have made jokes out of her bad relationships that are publicly known. And also Taylor took it out of proportion most of her songs is about her exes most of her hits are about her ex’s and Taylor ppl say this everyday so you need to control your fans and watch what they say because they be saying the wrong things
the way she’s getting canceled on twitter right now...

Why she is getting canceled?
@@beyonceknowles3884 well it started with her fans being exposed for being racist and misogynistic to female artists. Then her friend, Todrick Hall, decided to speak on the whole netflix joke situation and that went horribly. You can go find his tweet. Then old lyrics from Taylor resurfaced where she is slut-shaming. Then it was revealed she dated a guy while she was in her 20s and he was 17.
Lori harvey isn't even a ""celebrity"", I don't mean in a bad way. She is a socialite but the way that everyone makes fun of her on Twitter or just any comment section in general is disgusting.
If I had millions like her I wouldn’t care especially how she’s been going through this for 10 years now. And it’s never gonna end for her because she made it a major portion of her music. She did it to herself. Same thing with Ari she made it into money and moved on
Not yall think that if you have a lot of money, you can’t feel anything else but happy💀
@@sajibgibran2642 not what I said lol. What I meant was she is livin her best life sitting on the money she made ON HER OWN. She should not have to care what others say. @@sajibgibran2642 trust. I know money doesn’t mean nada
i think she did it more so just to prove a point that women in general receive criticism for their relationships opposed to men. not because she felt insecure about the joke, but she has the platform to express that women get criticized when men don’t.
Yes, women are more criticized. But no, Taylor was offended by the joke. I've been a casual fan since 2009, and it is known she takes stuff way too seriously.
it doesn’t change the fact she always use her white privilege for everything.
Yeah I think she tried to use the moment to be like “sexism bad, go women!” But it obv backfired lol. Even if the joke was really sexists, It wasn’t gonna work really because she doesn’t speak up enough I think about other issues, so it was gonna come off bad anyways since it was about herself.
@@LiterallyBotched i agree that she has used her white privilege, but it’s not like she’s used it in a way to harm any pov or discredit their struggles. every white person has white privilege so whether they want to use it or not they do, that’s part of their privilege.

I actually did watch the whole show, and it was one little joke, an outdated joke, but still, it wasn't all that. Her whole white feminist privilege is showing.
Right white feminism tears are crying again smh🤦🏽♀️

I am a SWIFTIE like SWIFT IE, and I completely understand and agree with you. She is waaaay too big and successful to be reacting about a small line on a show, she knows her power and influence and probably knew this was going to blow up.

She should’ve just either say nothing or be like yes I did and I had fun while doing it & WHAT?
She really didn’t think this through at all
You need to accept the fact that sensitive people do exist.
@Anne Day she’s too narcissistic to do that honestly.
They are gonna drag you lol But I'm with you. SNL does this all the damn time. She needs to get over it. You don't get to put your business out there and then get mad when people bring it up. THAT SHOW IS GOOOOOOD.
T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U!!!!!! Like can we bring back comedy and stop joining the Twitter trends that are hand picked by Twitter themselves. Jesus Christ.
completely agree with you! I hope taylor sees this.
PREACH ZACHARY!!! There are two explanations for this tweet. Either Taylor is so privileged she thinks jokes at her expense are unacceptable, or this is a marketing stunt. I’m leaning toward the latter, because Taylor is extremely skilled at marketing herself. I was scared Netflix or the show writers were going to issue an apology. None is needed. If Taylor is truly offended, she can get over herself. We can’t live in a world where people are terrified to crack a harmless joke.
As a Swiftie, i would to agree with you on the majority parts of the conversation. I do believe that Taylor actually took this joke way out of proportion. When i first learnt about this, i thought that Taylor would just laughed it all off or won't even say anything about it. I've seen some shows that dragged some people to mud for the shitty things they do or did, the responses are either non-existent or just something in the line of "LOL". This is supposed to be a scene from a mere show, not a talk show or a statement which actually targets a sexism topic. I do not exactly agree when you kinda undermined Taylor's feeling upon this matter since i do believe that it does hit home and if that thing hit, then you just can't help it but to feel it still. But i do also believe that she does make this more about her above in the narrative of women in general. All in all, this case is a flop for Taylor. I hope the show would still thrive so that those people would not lose their jobs due to a single comment by a celebrity as powerful as Taylor.
No one is undermining her feelings. Is the joke going to kill her? She’s a white woman. At the end of the day America will protect their whites. Taylor Swift will be fine.
@@vsteph3418 Stop making this into a race war it’s tiring ong. It was pertaining to ALL women. End of story. You are all being so dramatic pls ✋

@@vsteph3418 Actually you just did. Yes she got herself white privilege to sort of protect herself from harm but all those years especially circa 2015-2017 has proven to be the very hard time for Taylor due to all the negative narratives she has been getting. That's not fine at all to be in such position.
@Kerry Foerster Her private life is no one's business, yet she writes about it. If you put your life in the public, what does she expect?
Honestly, she overreacted. It was a small backhanded joke and I feel like she took her anger out on the wrong person. She knows some of her fans are crazy and will send literal *death threats* to these actors.
Well said, I agree
This is why Taylor is annoying as hell. Don’t like the show? Don’t watch it. Did she say anything about cuties which was ACTUALLY a problem? Nope.

Taylor is too famous to not know better! She knows the influence she has and how her fans respond when they are upset. Did you see how they said lady Gaga is got basic after a star is born. The Netflix show said that. Like didn’t she help take down turmp, vma awards, national anthem, oscars etc
i can see why she’s pissed off about it and why some others wouldn’t be. but it’s a joke made about her so she can react however she wants. although, her never calling out her fans for taking things too far is getting out of control. i understand that she can’t control everyone but even nicki had to yell at the barbs a couple of times when they took things too far. sometimes just hearing something out of their stans mouth telling them to stop would definitely get a majority of them to stfu.
i enjoy taylor’s music, but i’m not a “swiftie”. you are absolutely right about her not speaking up other women’s struggles. i understand that she isn’t necessarily an activist, but it wouldn’t hurt to see her stand up for other women being mistreated in the industry rather than tank a brand new netflix show. can’t really expect much of her though considering she is friends with racists 🤷♀️
I still remember watching Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars, the main characters talking about how cheap sounds and how crazy looked and even how dead her career is to Britney Spears (around 2007-2010) and that hurt even to me.
Taylor literally is using her AMERICAN SWEETHEART privilege because the OG white icons like Madonna or Britney were actually destroyed in every form of media back in the day. But I still think it wasn't a good quote to have in a WOMEN serie, blame her about her exes is so 2012.

One of my best friends is a writer for that show and it really sucks that it was so unfortunately blown out of proportion...she’s really counting on getting this show renewed for season 2 so she can keep her job. :(
Go off Zach ! Thank you for speaking out !
I don't agree with this, she was å Young woman expressing herself. I can see why she gets upset about this , her music is her outlet, her way of expressing and it must be frustrating to be seen like a joke when she has done so many things and that is the problem, she deserved to be seen for her success not as a joke... Ill be upset too, i mean she's still a person... Idk
She throwing shade on the boys she dated like in every songs, and now she is mad? Get out..
@@markfarago8846 if you don’t listen to her songs, why comment this? This is simply not true.
As a person of the minority, the show ACTUALLY speaks for women and what it is like for kids in a majority world. Real teenage struggles and I would hate for it to be canceled because of a joke that is like in episode 10, like you gotta watch the whole thing to even get to the joke tbh. Taylor Swift really shouldn't be ashamed, it is her ENTIRE career and she can do with it what she pleases, there is no shame in that. She is a smart businesswoman, and Idk if she even WATCHED the show, but if she did, that last thing I would call it is sexist and on the out for women. I feel she did use her privilege, but she used it for the wrong reasons.
I agree with Zach 1000%. It’s so true she made MILLIONS off of these boys in music. If it bothered her so much then maybe she should’ve thought about it before releasing all that music. 🤷🏻♂️

There is nothing wrong with running through men. Get that medal!
Agree with you, I find it interesting how Taylor Swift only seems willing to speak up on sexism when it benefits her. It was crickets when Monique exposed Netflix for racism and misogyny. She was more bothered about getting the bag from her Netflix documentary than actually calling out sexism back then, so what exactly changed 🤨. Also, I don’t think the show deserved to be cancelled just because of one line that had no significance to the rest of the show. Taylor and her fans blew this way out of proportion and trust me the harassment that these actors (and the disrespect to Chadwick B on that Netflix post) is far more disgusting than some joke about poor old Karen.. I mean Taylor.
Thanks for the tea cause I’m so lost lol

When I first heard the joke I thought it was so tired and such an old joke. It did feel sexist, because no one is going to joke about a man like that. And even though the show is written by women, women tear each other down too. But you did raise other good points. She does need to speak up more often for others and not just when it comes to her. I do think she’s been doing better at that over the past couple of years, let’s hope it keeps going in that direction.
Big Taylor fan here so I might be a bit biased when it comes to her because I understand her personality or character and it’s different, she’s pretty thin skinned lol.. I don’t believe she really means anyone any harm though 😅 but yes I agree with Zach, I would humor it too tbh.
There were multiple scenes in this series that made me have to do a double take and rewind, but I believe that those scenes and dialogue, including the Taylor Swift line, were in there for a purpose. I saw it as a chance for people to confront a variety of societal issues.
I wish you have Spanish subtitles for everyone on Twitter Mexico get the point 😩

I think that the point she is making is that no one would say that about a guy. Even if someone did say something like that about a man it would be a positive thing.

Her feelings over this joke is valid for sure. What bothers me is that, that line was a quick 2 seconds and kept it pushing. It was said on the last episode, I would've forgotten about it if this hadn't gotten blown up.
I absolutely loved this show, I'm a be bummed if it doesn't get another season.
The actors didn't write that line, they don't deserve to be receiving all this backlash. She made it all about her, not all women.
