The labels are drowning and they can take some of these geriatric pop nobodys with them. I will say this, i don’t like addison rae, but i love gayles song abcdefu, its so creative and it speaks of somth important which is independence. Let’s not pretend that Beyonces new album its art, cause its not, just like I love Taylor Swift, but damn this new album she tireeed. I'm sure a lot of younger ppl will call Aubrey jealous, gatekeeping and old fashioned... but she was absolutely right.
Ppl and studios these days do not prioritize artist development. Performers used to work their butts off taking dance and vocal lessons. Performers now want the fame but not the talent. They want a viral song or music video but not a GREAT album.
I know it's good to give exposure to lots of different types of artists and to change with the times but after a while it's just an excuse for mediocrity and we lower the bar more and more. What artists nowadays are evolving, getting better with age, producing more and the quality is better? I just talked about this with my friends. I truly wonder if the clock app is going to fade similar to vine. it’s easy to be disappointed from the clock app artists because they get popular/famous for the bare minimum. so for an artist like me who loves writing or music for the depths and instrumentation… it’s very frustrating. artists shouldn’t be microwaveable, we should be seasoned and slow roasted✨

I feel like this is happening in the arts as a whole. I am an amateur visual artist. Been working on my craft seriously for about 4-5 years now. Still feel like I have a long way to go but I am willing to put in the work. I'd go on IG an see someone who had mediocre skills with tenfold the followers of someone with a decade of skills and experience. Or how trendy dances overshadows well thought out choreography. Shit is getting ridiculous

These new girls can't even come close to what your Gagas, Beyonces, Christina Aguileras, Rihanna's, Avril Lavigne's, Katy Perrys, etc, Have accomplished PERIODT. I would really like to see Jojo get the proper attention and respect she deserves. She continuously puts out quality r&b music and I feel like it gets ignored because she's white. The difference with Jojo is that she's not a white woman trying to appropriate black culture, she truly just is a soul singer. She even said in an interview that she didn't want leave (get out) to be her first single because she saw herself as a soul singer and felt the track was too pop. There was just a variety of artist! You had girls in R&B, pop, alternative, rock, country, ska, neo-soul, etc. And I just feel sorry for this generation because who knows if they're ever going to experience that. It shouldn’t be to get some clout. It should be to share your beautiful art and inspire others. I have everything in me to make change and be a trailblazer, and that’s what I intend to do. nowadays is visible and sad that people are being rewarded for being mediocre ... and it becomes an even bigger issue, when you see the ones who are being rewarded for their mediocricy, and the ones who have to work twice as hard to even have some recognition...

I think the problem is labels telling and pushing their artist to make “tiktok viral “ songs , so they make and release a song with the intentions of “this has to be viral “ even though those “viral “ songs are usually just results if the artist making the music they want and being the artist they are , you can’t fake it , you can smell the plastic from a mile away , that’s why there’s a mediocre race going on , one of the biggest examples for me is dove Cameron , she made boyfriend , went viral and now she and her label are keep releasing similar music hoping that they too can be viral even though dove said herself she made boyfriend thinking no one would listen to it aka authenticity

The thing about manufactured entertainers is that they don't usually have longevity. There is definitely a platform and a time for them but once that time is up, its up. The artists who are more intentional and serious with their craft, who were actually born to do this, they are usually able to transcend, evolve, and remain relevant over a longer period of time even as trends and media platforms change. They can do it without the gimmicks, drama, and shock value too.

    Who actually makes amazing music.
I found amazing rappers, singers, producers
And i find them on spotify or RUclips
But its like the industry overlooks that and only give the ones thats already connected in the industry more push
Or the have a massive following on tictok but no actual talents
Tictok is a double edge sword like every other social media app
I don't knock it too harshly anymore now that im actually on the app, but i can always acknowledge the bad within it as well.

These new artists just don't have that anymore. you can tell they're label are literally in board meetings trying to figure out what going to go viral on tik Tok.....that's not a good thing because like Zach said you can have a hit today and gone and forgot about tomorrow. you not cultivating a true fanbase that will support your music after the "fad" and "trends" come and go.

I'm very much a music head as well, and I can tell/feel when a song is being made to be viral, played on tik tok, etc.. there's no emotions/feelings, and it barely feels like there's any type of care put into the music altogether. That's why I enjoy the HECK outta Beyonce's latest project, I enjoy SZA's latest project, and also Taylor's as well..But outside of a few other acts that aren't mainstream, I stick to the oldies.
