  • I profoundly apologize for Tucker's mildly janky hand movement.
    Also, I really need to make a better rig for the scorpion. Right now I'm literally just dragging it around as a physics object like gmod or something. But hey, better to have some jank then to wait another 6 years, right?

    As the show goes on you should make the models progressively dirtier/ less shiny to show wear on the armor, looks great

      Honestly not a bad idea. Behind the scenes, I did actually pay attention to levels of dirt. Simmons' armor is cleaner then the other reds because he's the only one who regularly cleans it, and although not seen yet, I have Sarge's model setup to be considerably more worn, but in a cleaned up way. He works on it, it's just old armor.

    This is incredible. I'm sure lots of people try to recreate RvB like this but they try to ape Monty's style too much. This seems original and also similar enough that complements his style well. Really hope to see more, thanks for the great work

      Figured the early seasons were a bit too low key for any high intensity action set pieces. Also, I mean, I'm doing mocap, and I am... *not* fit enough for any of that. Plus, I believe a lot of the early seasons derived their best humour from the fact that it's a video game where you can only really stand, aim, shoot, punch, jump, and drive. Trying to add too much physicality I believe would detract from the writing.

    I really appreciate your attention to detail on the tank on the rock shot. Is this created via unreal engine 5? What’s the process for animating the characters?

    • @IrrelevantNonFilms
      @IrrelevantNonFilms  10 месяцев назад +4

      Blender, actually. I'm using an Index VR headset and body trackers, the movements of which are recorded directly into Blender via a plugin. I then have to manually clean up some things (feet wobble, mostly. Elbow rotations, clipping, etc.) and reduce noise/jitter.

    Suggestion for the tank:
    See if you can rig it so the turret has head tracking. would make the movements a bit smoother if its possible

    • @IrrelevantNonFilms
      @IrrelevantNonFilms  5 месяцев назад

      Head tracking what, exactly?

    • @Gelgoog
      @Gelgoog 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@IrrelevantNonFilms The turret. if you could in theory rig the turret to track with your head you could make it look a lot smoother looking in it turning.
      or maybe track the body, so you can do the 360 degree turns easier

    • @IrrelevantNonFilms
      @IrrelevantNonFilms  5 месяцев назад

      @@Gelgoog I feel like that would introduce a lot of unnatural jitter that a large mechanical component would not have.

    • @Gelgoog
      @Gelgoog 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@IrrelevantNonFilms fair enough. it was just a suggestion for smoothing out the animations.
      Actually what if you rigged something up that was basically a stick that could spin around. mount the head tracking or w/e to it so you can negate the jitter issue. Think like a camera stand

    • @IrrelevantNonFilms
      @IrrelevantNonFilms  3 месяца назад

      @@Gelgoog I guess mostly I'm just confused about the notion that it's "not smooth enough", in hindsight, does the turret not look *too* smooth? Like there's no anticipation in the movement nor any overshoot when it stops moving. While tracking it to a real object (maybe a camera tripod, since that does get aimed like a turret) would probably work, there are other programmatic ways I can probably make the turret move more realistically. The shot at 2:00 makes me cringe when I see it, but in my defense I was mostly matching the timing of the turret movements to the original episode, where it kinda does move that abruptly - I think we just tune it out because it's a video game and that's how turrets in video games tend to move.
      But I digress.
      Animating tanks are still a pain for me (see: continued procrastination on episode 8), so more work and research is required.
